Every time I see a new medical professional, it can come with a lot of anxiety, because I have not always gotten fair or compassionate medical treatment, but I feel really confident in pursuing treatment options here. My blood pressure went way down after my appointment, and I left feeling good about next steps.

After that, any communication, which will be impossible to get in a timely manner, will be with a medical assistant. I waited 2 months where I messaged them multiple times with no reply. I also went into the office twice to ask why my messages were not being responded to. They suggested I get a call from the physicians assistant to answer the questions. Of course they didn't mention they would charge this as a specialist appointment, which my copay is $85. I submitted a complaint and got back a generic 'we coded it right, pay up now' response. I have had billing issues in general with Sutter but I am absolutely done with the after this. Next step is contacting insurance because they're up coding appointments like crazy here.

As a patient, I am probably the worst when it comes to anticipating stress, pain, and that feeling of not being in control. Yet at Stanford Medical Center Emeryville, I found myself actually relaxing before surgery. Every member of the team took the time to get to know me, understand my needs, and help me navigate what could have been one of the toughest experiences. This breast reduction has changed my life for the better. Knowing that the maestro of reduction surgery was on my side has made my future feel lighter, healthier, and more fulfilling. With the expert precision of Dr. Miller in Plastic Surgery, I am living my dream without the constant back pain. As a surgeon, he is exceptional. As a human being, he truly cares. He listens, he understands, and he gets you. I would do it all over again -- especially knowing my Stanford Medical team would be there beside me. Forever grateful. #K9JenniferSharpe #StanfordMedical #BreastReduction #PlasticSurgery #LifeChanging #Grateful

I've been trying to reach the clinic for nearly a week and NO ONE PICKS UP THE PHONE. Where are all the operators? I try calling in all different hours of the day hoping to get someone. I've only gotten someone to pick up the phone ONCE. They transferred me to the wrong department. I call back again and they AGAIN transferred me to ANOTHER wrong department. I gave up for that day. Since then, I have been on hold for nearly an hour each time I call in, and no operator will pick up the phone. I've had an urgent referral sent over and can't even reach anyone to make an appointment. I've been to other Stanford Health clinics and didn't have this kind of experience. Too bad this Emeryville clinic location is the only one that has the center that I need. I am shocked at how horrible the staffing is here and I haven't even visited this location physically yet. Absolutely despicable.

I came in for sensitive lab work and had specifically been instructed by my doctor to make sure certain testing details were confirmed with the lab. When I tried to explain that, Darlene cut me off mid-sentence and said, "We have everything we need," before I was even able to finish what my doctor had told me. Earlier in the interaction, when I asked a simple question about the testing instructions, she also responded in an unnecessarily sharp and dismissive manner. Her overall demeanor was curt, abrasive, and made me feel like asking questions or trying to communicate relevant information was an inconvenience. I became so uncomfortable enough that I asked if someone else could assist me. She told me she was the only person who could, so I said I would go to another location instead. To make matters worse, as I was packing up my things to leave, she sarcastically said, "Bye." I've generally had positive experiences with Sutter, which is why this stood out so much. If you have the option to get your lab or bloodwork done at another location, I would strongly consider it.

I don't trust them otherwise! A nurse practitioner (Stephen?) did a "heat test" meaning he used his hands to feel for a heat differential on my low back tissue pain before deeming me releasable from my any further treatment despite my chronic & ongoing pain. OK -- WHAT KIND OF VOODOO CRAP IS THIS. I'm still experiencing pain. Unacceptable and deceptive. One of the receptionist has attitude that needs to be checked. She is hungry for power and will make you weight. The other one (Kristina) is very pleasant and actually does her job. So it goes. I've gotten "Physical Therapy" (PT) here. While the PT was very pleasant, my PT was less active and more passive. It was 30 minutes maximum of getting my injury gently massaged and gossip. This delayed strengthening vital muscles that could actually help in recovery, which is what I did when I switched to another PT provider at a different organization entirely and experienced less pain. I've seen enough here and am very disappointed. If you want adequate and ongoing care, run away from here go elsewhere!!!

Additionally, Anita Hackman, the Client Liaison, is an essential part of the process. She is the one you communicate with regarding issues like pharmacy delays or appointment changes, and I find her to be excellent--she perfectly balances professionalism with understanding.
