Buchmyer's Pools - They quoted over $9000 to replace the 16x32 foot pool liner. Absolutely disgraceful!

Buchmyer's Pools

I recently moved in the area. Buchmyers seem to be the only pool service available…read more I have used Buchmyers to install a heater, open the pool and cleaning once. The pool opening was great. I am also satisfied with the actual work to install the heater. Their scheduling leaves a LOT of room for improvement. I was told I would receive a quote in a couple of days. After a week and a half, I asked again. A few days later I received an apology that they had been busy and the quote was attached. The attachment was for a pool liner. When I pointed that out it took another few day to get the right quote. Last Tuesday I asked to schedule some service so my wife does not need to take care of it while I am out of town. The auto-response email said they would email me a confirmed date within a few days. Today is Monday. I am still waiting. I guess I was spoiled at my last location, the people would actually get back to you promptly. But when your the only place in town....

HOLY SMOKES! They replaced the liner for my inground pool before so I called them to do a new liner…read morereplacement quote for my pool. Thought they might give me a reasonable price because I would be a repeat customer. NOPE, their quote was $5000 more than I paid before, and over $4000 more than the other 3 swimming pool companies liner replacement quotes. Erin explain their prices really increased due to COVID. (Is Covid pricing still in affect?) Do not buy a swimming pool liner replacement from BUCKmyer (emphasis on THE BUCK!) as they look to be PRICE GOUGERS! Every other swimming pool company will provide a quote to save you THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. These guys are a bunch of pirates looking to make a chest of gold on every customer.

Goodall Pools & Spas

If you've never installed a pool previously, you better find someone who has so that you can ask…read moreevery question in the book because they offered up absolutely no proactive information or planning for our project. I am trying to like these people as they install our inground pool, but they seem to want every step of the way to be a surprise and half finished. Communication would have gone a long, long way but they completely and utterly lacked in informing us of what to expect, when to expect it, and made clear attempts at excuses for things that could have been straightforward communication and I would have understood. The subcontractors they used were very nice and seemed to do a decent job. My impression is that Goodall failed at project planning to complete the job efficiently, and communication was at best reactive to our constant probes of questions to figure out what was going to go on at our home with this large project. It made it very difficult to plan our own parts of the project (ie landscaping, etc) and wasted a lot (a couple thousand dollars) of our money with wasted materials and I can't even tell you how much of our time has been wasted that could have been prevented if they provided a clear plan, design, and information. I will update this review when we're all said and done to hopefully a better rating with full details.

Van Dorn Pools & Spas - 16-x-28-radiant-semi-inground

Van Dorn Pools & Spas

This company is operating as a Jacuzzi reseller (independent Sales Organization - ISO)…read more After complaining to Van Dorn, I have since found that Van Dorn is the only registered provider of Jacuzzi spas in the state of Maryland. I know this because I contacted Jacuzzi directly and they gave me a secondary provider in Hagerstown, MD that is subsequently cut-off by Jacuzzi since Covid, 2019. This means that Van Dorn is the only seller and provider of maintenance in the State of Maryland. Hence, Van Dorn knows they are the only registered provider of Jacuzzi Sales and Maintenance. They use this advantage by charging exorbitant fees for new and existing Maryland Consumers that purchase a Jacuzzi spa. With that said, it is obvious that this company is acting like a 'Monopoly' for the Jacuzzi spas purchased by consumer in the state of Maryland. In other words, we the consumers are FORCED to work with Van Dorn for our proper Jacuzzi maintenance. Van Dorn, (knowing that have a monopoly), in turn charges exorbitant prices to conduct basic maintenance that is as little as 30 mins for $205.00. This works out to $410.00/hr. I just experienced this (super charge) of $205.00 for a tech to 'open up the COVER OF THE spa," tighten some pipe unions and then LEAVE within 30 minutes, and this was after I waited 30 days for him to come out to me in the first place. How is that verifying that my Jacuzzi tub is working properly and not leaking (which was the main part of our service call in the first place)? With this complaint, I already know, that Van Dorn will use the excuse that the Spa was not filled with water so they cannot test things, but that is bogus since for the last 5 years they have been using an 'external pump' that quickly extracts water from a nearby pool and is used to fill the spa (fast - usually in 20 mints or less). It comes down to whether THEIR TIMETABLE for the day will use the 'external-pump approach' to ACTUALLY fix the problem, OR use 'the excuse' that the Spa is not filled to justify their 20-30 mints "service." They love to use this 'external pump approach' to benefit (or not) their schedule to handle all Jacuzzi needs across the State of Maryland. excuse where the spas are filled (or not). This is their "bufffer" that they use for charging $205.00 for the visit. It is a shameful approach to business, and one that is manipulating Maryland Code. With tha said, over the years I have seen how they like to manipulate the use of their 'external pump' as an excuse that the spa cannot be tested (since it is not filled - when they come out) to determine whether the spa works or has leaks. I have seen thier use of this excuse for many years now. All the time, they could be using ther external pumps to fill the spa, run the spa and determine operation and/or leaks. As an educated citizen of Maryland, I need/want/alert the state of this egregious use of monopoly that is happening in the State of Maryland, of which I was born. I am tired of small dealers extorting the Citizens of Maryland and I ask that you crack down on this 'Monopoly' that Van Dorn has on Maryland citizens. In closing, If I cannot get recon stance from your department, I will be taking this to the Maryland Supreme Court. Thank you, Stephen J. Twice have they failed to have our electrical box and light switch box in the appropriate area and had to be replaced due to water damage. Pool cover continually coming off after closing by them. we had a new liner installed on our foxx pool a few months ago from another company who offered a…read morebetter deal and warranty. i was in the pool when the old liner was removed and there was no wall cracks or seams and it was inspected thoroughly. the new liner was installed. 3 month later i saw a little bulge in the shallow end and it felt like a rock somehow penetrated the wall. since it was a foxx pool i called them to see if the could see whats wrong and fix it once i drained the pool for the season. the following is truly Foxx pools at its finest. many years ago they quoted me $1100 for a 1.5hp pool pump that was $129 on amazon. Now Foxx emails me that because I did not buy the liner from them that they wont fix it and told me the liner company (who only sells liners) should be the one to fix it. Here is their email: "Thank you for sending us these photos. Unfortunately, we would not know what's going on until we removed the liner. Since we did not install the liner, we would only be able to get behind the liner if we were doing a replacement. If you would be interested in a liner quote, I would be happy to send you that. When we do liner installs, we always patch the wall if needed. Which is what we would have recommended whoever installed your liner do. Since the liner is already installed there is not anything we can do unless we were to replace it." its always been something with them. overcharge for everything, if you buy a house with a foxx pool you do not get the warranty transferred (that was directly from them) and now apparently they dont have the skill to pull the liner away from the pool wall when the pool is empty to see what came through the wall and fix it. Apparently they need the entire liner removed so they have enough room to maneuver in order to fix what looks like 2-3" Compromise in the wall. But the REAL VALUE of Foxx as your pool partner is the $7000 you get to give them so they can throw out you new pool liner and replace it with one of theirs Why would anyone ever choose someone other than Foxx Pool!!!!!!
