This review is a double review The Costa Mesa Store is all Stars the Fountain Valley Store is One star.. I have been to the Fountain Valley location on three times and two of the three times was very disappointed. I first needed to get my gate valve replaced cause it was leaking. I showed a picture of the valve to a guy there whom later to find out is Gino he didn't pay any attention to me and what I needed and he ordered the wrong part. He was too busy trying to upsale on chemicals I didn't need at the time cause my Spa was EMPTY. He also sold my wife a manual filter pump which is a piece of garbage. When the part can in I went home and tried to use it only to find out it was the wrong part. When I went back to return the part the young man who ( not Gino ) was very helpful and handled the situation and got my part returned. I then tried the Leslie's in Costa Mesa and Customer service was superb.. I went back to the fountain valley branch today to get some aroma therapy and There is Gino I was giving him the benefit of doubt he asked how I was doing as he was coming from the back and I said good. Then next thing you know Gino is up in my personal space asked me if I needed any help. I said nah I'm good and put down the product and started to leave Gino says I was just asking you if you needed help. It's not what you asking it's how he was asking you were in my grill. With that said I replied I will not be coming here anymore and left. I then called Costa Mesa store and informed them if the situation and described who I was referring to and they new who it was. Costa Mesa store is Top Notch.. Fountain Valley is below par. Gino if you pay attention to the customer needs then you will gain a customer for life. As it stand you didn't pay attention so you lost a customer for life.... read more

The lady with short hair that is usually working, is usually very rude and cold, I could let one time slide, but it's every time, makes me feel like I'm bothering her, she should try smiling sometime, the store can sell a lot more, I was gonna buy a whole bunch of things, but I left , I think her name might be Andrea? I went in to have my water tested and to purchase the Zodiac Scrubbing Brushes; Item No. 604228 | Manufacturer SKU: R0714400 I picked up the brushes from the shelf, went to the line where a young man was assisting another customer. Around me comes another employee who walks around me to the front of the store and greeted another customer who walked in, ignoring me. After he finished, he proceeded to help me. When I asked about price matching Amazon, I showed him that online it $20.99. Mark, refused to price match stating that they don't match business prices. He said he would only match "regular people" Amazon prices, at which time I showed him the "regular people" pricing of $20.98 on Amazon. Mark then proceeds to now say that the two items are different as the packaging at Leslie is in a Baracuda packaging, even though they are the same company that merged together. Also, the Leslie website list this item as the Zodiac brand, same SKU and ITEM number. However, Mark refused to match saying it was not "apples to apples". I have been going to this store forever and this is the first representative from Leslie's that has had the worst customer service ever. He had a face like he didn't want to work, he not once greeted me after I greeted him, nor did he honor the price matching guarantee. In the end, I purchased the item despite them not honoring the price match as stated clearly on the website. I honestly felt at one point he walked over to help the older "white" gentleman who walked in after seeing me in line and left me to wait. I really didn't want to say anything racial, but it is how I felt. Otherwise I have never had any issues at this store and everyone else has been friendly and helpful. I was taken care of by David Geddes. David is very friendly and very professional. He is always helpful in letting me know what my pool needs are based on the pool test results. He is always checking to see if I have points available and letting me know what my options are when making purchases. He always seems to go out of his way to make sure he has covered all of my pool needs. He was instrumental in fixing my Hayward Navigator which now works perfectly. He simply charged me for the replacement of a few parts and the unit was up and running perfectly. I definitely recommend seeing David at this location for all of your pool and spa needs. read more

This Leslie's is the best in the area. David is very knowledgeable and helpful. The pool tests at the other nearby store have been off, especially on pH, not sure if they calibrate their machine. It's been almost Four a weeks since I ordered a gasket for my spa filter. The clerk struggled to find the Hayward part, but after 20 minutes said they had it at the Mission store. Called this place on a whim, looking for beach balls. Who would've thought in sunny California where it suns everyday it would be so hard to find one! I called the store and they had them! Two types to be exact, a large one for $5.99 and a small patriotic one for $2.59. The guy was very friendly and helpful, this store has everything. From chemicals to everything you would want to either lounge in or play with in the water! Prices seem pretty reasonable, especially since most places clear out their summer fun toys after Labor Day. Really unhappy with Leslie's. There is a HUGE disconnect and ZERO communication between the Leslie's Service Center, the Local Store and the Service Technician . After 3 visits to the Leslie's store and 3-4 calls to the Service Center (800-Leslies) I have still not received my warranty part after THREE months. I have lost valuable lunch time during work dealing with this issue. Each entity points at the other and tells me to contact the other entity. Seemed to me that the Service Center person who tried to help me on the phone did not understand what a warranty claim was and the was after the assistant manager told this person that a warranty claim was needed to be placed. I am truly disappointed with Leslie's level of Customer Service. read more

After purchasing a water treatment kit that requires specific chemical levels before application from them, they refused to test my pool water unless I gave them much personal information. All I wanted was to get the water tested and purchase chemicals to adjust where needed. I did not want to sign up for some marketing campaign. Very poorly run business. read more

Called on 6/28/20 looking for someone to repair or replace a spa pump motor that was making noises. I spoke with Shana, who spent a lot of time to patiently asking me a series of questions about the problem. She then said that Leslie's doesn't do the sort of work that is necessary to fix the problem, but she recommended two people who do. I contacted the first person that she mentioned, and have had a very positive experience with that person - ultimately replacing my monthly maintenance service as well as addressing the repair of the pool equipment. Shana was very knowledgeable, courteous and generous with her help. Based on this contact, I would call Leslie's first for any swimming pool or spa needs. Steve read more

I recently started maintaining my own pool rather than hiring someone to clean it and I would have never been able to do it without Andrea the manager of Leslie's on Harbor. The free water testing is helpful because it gives you not only a diagnosis but also some sense of what chemicals will help fix water issues. That alone is worth the trip but Andrea has literally transformed me from a pool novice to something closer to reasonably competent. She explains the water quality issues and how they work together and what chemicals to add in which sequence and without overselling you on products you don't need. I go in almost every week and Andrea always greets me by name and never balks at doing yet another water test for me. She has replaced broken items for free and given advice about fixing pool equipment as well. I've found Leslie's products to be very effective at managing my water quality issues. They are a little overpriced but considering the technical support and service I think it's still a value. read more

Like most Leslie's this branch has high prices and smells like pool chemicals most of the time. I periodically came here to get my water tested until I started doing it myself (for the most part). Anyway, I came back from vacation a few weeks ago to find some algae in my pool. I knew what I needed (and I was out of a few things) and came to the store. I was immediately confronted by a "helpful" employee who immediately decided, after hearing what I wanted, that I didn't know enough about my pool to buy chemicals from Leslie's. He actually refused to sell to me. As I left he said "Next time bring a water sample, boss", in the most patronizing tone imaginable. I went to Home Depot to get what I needed, for less money, and my pool was clean and balanced within 48 hours. When I went to the Leslie's on MacArthur later that week I just missed the 'Congratulations' result for the test (cyanuric acid... what'cha'gonna do?). So I guess I do know a little bit about my pool, boss. I also know I won't be coming back to this Leslie's, and that I've been telling my friends about the lousy service at this branch - and the great service at the MacArthur store. read more

There are wonderful concerned people in Fountain Valley atorr but no such luck with the Costa Mesa location. I went in last Saturday to get products to help me with my pool get started with new fresh water and was basically confronted by the young man who helped me. He repeatedly asked why I was going to drain my pool and wouldn't listen to me. After a great deal of research I had decided to do this and had already rented a pump. The young man working was disrespectful, questioned all my motives and ended up selling me products I didn't need. He told me he was going to be a manager soon, which scares me. If he wants to be a manager, he needs to learn people skills, listening skills and how not to bully a customer. I ended up walking away from him. Very disappointed. I will return to the Fountain Valley Location next visit! ! read more

I've been here several times now and I will always go back even though it's a bit out of my way. They have everything that I need for my pool and most importantly they always have expert advice on exactly what I need. Sure, you'll have to pay a bit more money for some things then you would on Amazon, but you actually get knowledgeable customer service and warranties. Whereas, with Amazon you get 30 days and that's it then you're screwed. I highly recommend these guys! read more

Online return department is a joke. I have been contacting them for 1 month regarding an order that they shipped with the parts missing. I just want a replacement on the missing part and apparently they can not be bothered with this. First time purchasing online and easy to say I will never do that again. The Leslie's Costa Mesa service guys I've worked with have all been great; very knowledgeable, patient & sincere. Once again I experienced service exceeding my expectations last night with all the hard rain filling up my pool. I called close to closing time in need of a sump pump. Gregory Kearney answered & said don't worry, come on in, I'll be here. When I arrived I realized I didn't have my rewards coupons, he took the time to look them up & my purchase was covered. have visited the shop a few times. First I was told to buy the wrong light for my spa. The light I needed was a different bulb but no questions or statements that there maybe a couple of options. Then not telling me that I should buy a gasket I purchase a $200 LED light and it goes bad because I did not replace the gasket. Third I go to now buy another $200 light and find out the manager Phillip sold me the 2 G light and this one does not have the best coverage. I should have bought the 3G light. But now since I already have a 2G I cannot mix them. And here is the crem de la crem.... I go in today and the shop is very hot and I ask if the AC went down. Gregory who is on duty today for 10 hours says no the manager Phillip went on Vacation and shut down the AC to help his numbers with the store financials. REALLY at the expense of the staff and the customers this nut is going to turn off the AC for the entire weekend???? Someone needs to visit their decision on letting this clown run a store. ITs cost me $250 already and a very bad taste in going back there.... read more

I was happy when this store went in, I bought supplies and got on their e-mail list. My pool heater became unreliable so I investigated replacing it. I was put off by the $2,500. price so delayed until I got an e-mail offering a $99 installation price. I called and set up an appointment and ordered the heater on line from another source, no delivery and no sales tax. Later I received a call that the girl who made my appointment didn't know what she was doing and that they would not do the installation. The call I had made was to an 800 number, the return call to cancel the deal was from Arizona. After ordering a heater for $1950 I called the local store and was told again they would not install it. The lessons are clear. Only deal with phone numbers and people who are local. Get off the e-mail list so you are not deceived by come-on ads. read more

Worse pool company I have ever experienced, can't believe they are still in business as far as repairs to pools and spas. By the time they schedule an appointment to assess the problem, order parts and then reschedule again - 30 days later the problem was still not fixed. Same exact delay when we used them 2 years ago! They don't have very many techs in the field (at least here in Orange County) to get the jobs done in decent amount of time. The experience we had was absolutely unexceptional!!! read more

He is encouraging, knowledgeable, friendly and positive. I trust him and feel like his main priority is helping me and not selling me things I don't need. One star may be too many. I bought a MX8 pool vacuum from here. 3 days in it stopped working as it kept getting clogged with leaves. I needed to exchange it for a different model. Called and spoke with Phillip and he said as it wasn't defective he could only exchange and would be so kind as to wave the 15% restocking fee. Thanks, but if it doesn't work it's defective!!! Upon going in to return it a few days later there was a sweet girl in there that couldn't help me as only a manager could do returns. The "manager" for that day ALEX was no where to be found as he left and she wasn't sure when he would be back. He called and said he was almost there so I waited. Let me tell you, this guy is anything but nice and helpful. I honestly don't knelt how he is called manager. He rolled his eyes at every question I had and was short with not only me but even the girl that worked there. When I told him that Phillip said he would waive the restocking fee he was rude!!!!! He had to call Phillip to be sure I wasn't lying. Just beware if you go in and buy this vacuum that has HORRIBLE reviews online because it sucks and they will fight you the whole time to even exchange it for something else!!!!! If you go in and ALEX is working I would suggest walking right back out as he will do nothing but be short with you and roll his eyes!!! I went in there with my damaged pool pump on the 1st of July. I was assisted by a young man named Alex. The moment I walked in, he was as helpful as helpful gets. I had to leave my pump so they could order some parts. A few days later they call me that it's ready and I go pick it up. I picked it up, set it up, and it didn't work. So back to the store I went. I had to do this 4 different times and every single time I went in there... Alex and another gentleman named Phill were as professional as professional gets. Ultimately, they could not fix my issue and they new I was frustrated. I finally went back one more time and asked for a refund. These gentlemen gave me a refund and were empathetic to my situation and felt bad that they couldn't fix my issue. I will have to take my pump someplace else but in regards to any other pool needs I may have, I will definitely visit this store. Customer service is number one in my book and it will be a pleasure to visit that store again because of the type of personnel they have working there. I would go without before spending a dime in this business. I called looking for a part for my Jacuzzi brand jacuzzi. I named, then described the part and provided the jacuzzi brand part number on the part. The person on the phone did not understand what i was looking for. I informed him the part was located on the Internet using the jacuzzi part#. He was either incompetent or ignorant. I do have some sympathy for the business owner if that is the best employee they could find. read more

My heater went out I scheduled a service technician they told me it would take 2 weeks to come out. They called after waiting 2 weeks and they couldn't make it on the schedule date. The service technician would be out 2 days later he shows up on Thursday and told me he would order the parts and be back on Saturday that was not true he didn't show up and I didn't get a call. The following week I get a call from Leslie in Phoenix and they are going to show up on the weekend between 1 and 5. The technician show up tries the parts he ordered and it didn't work. The technician removed the new parts and reinstalled the old parts and gave me a good luck and took off to his home in Arizona. No call to schedule a new technician or nothing I would not recommend Leslie pools to service or repairs anything do with pools. I will never go to that store location or deal with incompetent people. Leslie pools nice job. read more
