I have been doing business with Leslie's since 1978. Recently I visited the store looking for an o-ring for my pump pot lid. They didn't have it and their advice to me was order it from Amazon. I don't want to order it from Amazon. I would expect this location to carry at least one $8.99. o-ring on a piece of equipment that they sold me for close to $6,000. JJ is an amazing asset however, JJ's supervisor informed me that they can't carry a part for everything they sell in that store and I shouldn't expect it. I do expect it and I would think that the solution to that issue was to tell me they could order it from their distribution center and I can kick it up when it came in. So this location on Manzanita will no longer enjoy my patronage. I will go to their store on Hazel avenue if I have to. My experience with JJ I rate at 9 because of his advice to order my part from Amazon. His supervisor and I don't know his name. They do not stand behind any of the pool pumps that they sell. The pool pump I purchased was $4,600 with installation last November. The pump stopped working and should still be under warranty. I've been in contact them for the past two weeks while giving me the run around. Contacted customer service and sent me to the manufacturer. After speaking with the manufacturer of the pump, I was told it was the company that installed it that should be responsible. Leslie's refused to fix the issue that they installed and now I've spent $4600 for nothing. read more

I am a new homeowner with a pool, and the manager JJ has been a huge help in learning how to take care of it. Whenever I come in the store I am greeted by the friendly staff. They are very knowledgeable and great at explaining any situation with my pool. I like getting the water test in store. They have helped me repair my pool sweep multiple times with quick turnaround, helped me find parts for outdated pool equipment, guided me to keep my pool looking great, and even suggested pool companies who could install new equipment. I am a new pool owner with with a very old pool. I was overwhelmed (even thinking about filling-in the pool). I took my old Polaris into Leslie's and now it''s running like new. I have read about the high prices at Leslie's, and yes you can find parts cheaper on Amazon, but I want the Repairs done right. Leslies usually does not charge extra for installation when parts are purchased in stores. This is money well spent! Pool sweeps are more complicated than they appear. With Leslie, I don't need to worry. I know they are done right. Thanks to JJ, a true professional who helped me navigate this new world of pool maintenance, (specifically what to worry about and what not to worry about) Now, I look at my pool and can't wait for summer. Years ago, I was a proud pool owner and thought I knew everything there was to know to keep it clean. I'd been a homebrewer and a fish tank owner and thought my chemistry knowledge was pretty solid. Be that as it may... Keeping the pool clean was always a battle. I am realizing now, that part of the problem was that I had not yet met JJ from Leslie's pool supply in Carmichael. This guy is a genius, and after 30 minutes, talking to him, I learned more than I ever learned in all the years of being a pool owner. When I think of the time and money I could've saved myself if had just met JJ sooner... Well, it's just depressing. Suffice it to say I will be going to see him with any pool questions I have from now on. I cannot recommend him and Leslie's pool supply in Carmichael enough. If you have a pool or are taking care of one, save yourself a lot of time and headache (and money) and go see JJ at Leslie's pool supply as soon as possible. You will be glad you did! read more

There are closer pool stores; but no one gives better service and help than JJ, the store manager! Countless times he has saved us money and time with his advice and products. Today he sent out Joel to estimate the repair of our panel. He efficiently checked it out the system, and with JJ tracked down hard to find parts. These guys are amazing! Over the years they have provided much advice and helped me keep my pool in top condition. They never try to sell me things I don't need. They are so honest and helpful I have no problems sending my wife Fran to them. They patiently answer all her questions and provide much needed instructions on all aspects of pool maintenance. While I typically am not in charge of our homes pool maintenance, I have taking over temporarily. In an effort to fix a leak in our pump, and "reset" out Polaris vac, I stopped in at about 15 minutes to closing. Josh was a HUGE help and suggested I leave the vac with him, as he thought rotating the front wheels with the back wheels might solve the issues I was having. I asked if I could bring it back in so I could watch what he did and he was happy to accommodate. When I came back in there where other customers coming in and out but her handled everyone with excellent customer service in a timely and smooth fashion. He was clear that his boss JJ, was the expert, and made me aware of when JJ would be in, if I preferred to have him look at it (I stuck with Josh). It was obviously that JJ had trained him well and that he takes pride in his work and genuinely wants to meet every customers' needs. Upon following up via phone with JJ, I was able to get a bit of advice an issue I wasn't quite able to solve (the leak in the pump- not anything Josh could have done) and he was very helpful, both in listening to my thoughts and providing feedback. I was in need of a 5x10' solar pool cover remnant for a crafting project, so I stopped by the Leslie Pool Supply store on Manzanita Ave. in Carmichael, Ca. to see if I could buy one. I didn't get the salesman's name, but he was a "gem"! He only sold full sized covers, but offered to look in the backroom to see what might be there to help me out. He found just what I needed then proceeded to give it to me at no cost! How often does that happen in the retail world!?! I am truly impressed with the quality of generosity I received at this store. I've already spent more money there than I should. I thought once I told him (who I believe was the manager) what I purchased he would pay a little attention. we went to one Leslie's pool supplies off Arden then weren't very help full so we called this one told them we needed a new pump system and they said they had some in stock. we headed over talk to a younger employee that once we showed him a picture of what we were working with said he could get us on the right path just to show up the next day to talk to the store owner so he could brake down a bit more between the two filtration systems they had on had, told him I wanted to buy one ASAP. I gave him my number, got a phone call the next day asking if I was stopping by from the young employee. I told him I would be over once I was off work. So I headed over both the owner and the employee I spoke to were with a customers. No big deal I waited after 10 mins the owner said hello.... well that was it we waited for 20 mins another man walked in to the store and both the owner and employee went to the back room with him never asked if we needed help or give them a minute ... after this we called another store that were able to get us a system put on Monday this all happens Friday so that's why I gave them 2 stars we ended up getting faster installation better system for a better price so I give them a extra stars because with out them I would had to have waited most likely a week or longer to get the system put in . Oh yea I set up a service called with them because they wanted to send a tech out to evaluate my pool after this even I called to cancel it they told me No problem they would take care of it then in July 4th a tech called me from Leslie's saying he was 30 mins out from my house so clearly they didn't cancel it like they told me they would read more

I've read most of the reviews here and they're all from 2009 or 2011, so basically 3 to 5 years ago.. I can't speak to that, but I can speak to 2014! This place is "Excellent" ! Led by store mgr Terrence James who is not only exceptionally knowledgeable and very friendly but is obviously a great trainer and crew leader too, as his staff is quite knowledgeable & offers outstanding customer service as well.. I recently moved to a home that has a swimming pool and I have never owned or managed a pool before, and it can be quite tricky to say the least.. Store Mgr Terrence James always tests my pool water for free every time I've gone in and gives me a detailed step by step print out of what I need to do &/or add to my pool water to get it sparkling beautiful. Always very patient with we and explains each step on of print out to make sure I am clear on how/what to do. I wouldn't shop for my pool supplies anywhere else!! read more

Spent $1200 on a great Polaris pool cleaner 9555... WORTHLESS, the long cord tangles in minutes and stays that way. keeping it from doing it's job. I have contacted Leslies, I contacted Polaris no return calls or emails... I have tried everything that the tech line suggested. The staff have caused me more problems than I've gone there with. They don't know how to fix pools. They seriously lack in so many basic areas of pool mechanics that it is pathetic. They regurgitate water chemistry from a computer analysis and that's the extent of their knowledge in that regard. The only reason I go there is that they're the only pool store nearby. They are excessively expensive and the staff are inept. I really dislike having to go there. read more

I love this store - the service is excellent. I get my pool water tested weekly and my pool looks great. Terrence is not only knowledgeable and helpful, but I've noticed that he knows most customers by name. Chad always gives excellent advice about products and he saves me money by recommending the correct solution if I notice a little algae or cloudiness. Tyler is friendly and very efficient. These guys know how to listen and they give consistently good service. Parking is easy at this location and I can go to the grocery store without having to move my car. Two errands - super easy. 5 stars + for the Carmichael Leslie's. read more

I've been to a couple different pool supply stores and I always come back to this Leslie's at Manzanita. I really don't know why I go to other places, other than I'm passing by and they're convenient. Last week I literally, walked out of a store when the worker said "I think..." and went to the Manzanita store and got the help and answers I needed. The professional knowledge and friendly service is what brings me back. When getting advice on my pool, the last thing a consumer wants to hear is "I think if you try this..." I have never heard the words "I think" from these people, they know what they are talking about every time time I have questions. I strongly encourage anyone that's looking for solid advice on their pool to visit the Leslie's in the shopping center on Manzanita. read more

Horrible place! On the surface, they can be nice and helpful and have a nice looking store, but it turns out they were happy to sell me the wrong sized equipment for my pool - TWICE. I basically wasted $1,500 on equipment that is completely wrong for my size pool and thought I was buying from a company that you could go into and get the right parts even if you're not an experienced pool owner. WRONG! Also, when you actually get work done there or require some research from them, their customer service drops significantly. Three different times I was waiting for a call back from them regarding a pool light (pre-paid for by the way) or for repair work on my sweeper and they have never, never called me back. I've always had to constantly call them to check on the status of my items. Even after my pool sweep had been fixed for several days, they still didn't call me back. I've had similar experiences at another Leslies in the area and have finally wised up enough to 1) research, research, research and lookup pricing online and 2) go to a different pool store. I found Best Pool Supply in Sacramento and they have much, much better pricing and very knowledgeable helpful people, especially Jim. But this review is about Leslies, so I'll stop here - Just do yourself a favor and save the 40% markup and bad advice and go to a different store or research and purchase online. Either way, you're dollar will go further and your much more likely to get the right product for your pool. read more

i am so impressed with these guys. Every individual who has helped me has been kind and helpful. I have had trouble with my built in pool because of all the recent fires in the area. I drained the pool and they walked me hand in hand in getting it back. In fact it is better than it ever has been. They are not very honest about warranties. Bought an expensive robotic pool sweep less than 3 years ago. After the first six months had to have the control unit replaced, but it took almost 4 weeks. Now, either the motor or power cord is out. I was told it had a three year warranty, but then was told by the staff (after the unit was in their shop for two weeks) that it was not covered under warranty and would cost almost as much to repair the unit as the original cost. They always seem to be short staffed. I will never do business with this company again read more

Their staff are poorly trained and most are too sloppy to perform accurate water tests. (Miscount the drops of the reagents, let the reagents fall outside their container used for the tests, slosh the pool water sample outside the container as they mix it...(these guys obviosuly failed their quantitative analysis chemistry course). I recently had wide swings when they measured my pH, Calcium, Alkalinity and phosphates...too much to be reasonable. I took the same water collected at the same time into two different stores and you guessed it, widely divergent results. Consider me a former customer. read more

The girl that has helped my husband and I (I think it may be the Hillary Swank double that Tiffany mentions in her review) has been EXTREMELY helpful on multiple shopping trips. She is super knowledgeable and helped two new pool owners understand how to care for a pool. Upon moving to the area and buying a home with a pool, I realized that at this time we can't afford a pool cleaning service and that I would need to do it on my own. She made me feel confident that this was something that I could do and not feel nervous about it. She set me up with all the right chemicals and explained exactly how to test my pool water myself. After a month my pool is still in really great condition and I know that if I need help with anything someone at this store will be able to help me figure it out. read more
