Vibey 30 somethings and those of us tourists that have begrudgingly figured it out. It is close quarters inside, but when in Rome. My bestie from middle school and I shared the escargot (bless you) pasta, which was delicious, and the duck, which was exceptional. We split a very fairly priced bottle of wine and ended the night with the scoop of mousse. If they could figure out how to do that intravenously, that'd be great. The mousse reminded me of a great guilty pleasure, which is eating straight out of the can of Duncan Hines chocolate frosting (ask me how I know, I do this often, going to rebrand it to me being European). Loved it here.

Paris has a talent for making lunch feel accidental in the best possible way…read more Chez Janou sits quietly in the Marais, just close enough to Place des Vosges that the entire experience spills naturally into wandering afterward. No real plans. Just walking. Cigarette smoke in the air, scooters passing narrow streets, old stone buildings glowing under soft afternoon light. Online, this place feels impossible to book. But show up 10-15 minutes before opening and suddenly you're seated like you knew the secret all along. Inside, the room hums. Tight tables. Warm walls. Loud enough to feel alive without becoming chaotic. Nobody rushing. Nobody flipping tables. Just the rhythm of Paris doing what it's always done. The menu is entirely in French which, honestly, makes the experience better. You stop ordering with certainty and start ordering with curiosity. My wife had the risotto d'épeautre aux St. Jacques. I ordered the Magret de Canard au Romarin. The duck was solid. A 3.5/5 kind of dish. Rich, savory, comforting after a long day walking through the city. But the risotto surprised me more. The scallops were delicate, the spelt added this earthy texture that made the dish feel substantial without ever becoming heavy. And then there's the mousse au chocolat. The famous one. Served from an oversized bowl with this almost excessive "all you can eat" energy that somehow still feels elegant instead of gimmicky. We only needed a few bites. Soft, luxurious, lightly bitter chocolate balanced perfectly against just enough sweetness. The kind of dessert that doesn't ask for attention. It quietly earns it.

This review might be a little confusing…read more I was looking forward to coming back here more than any other meal on my entire trip! The first time I ate here last year, I had the most wonderful meal that I have thought about many times since. So why 4 stars instead of 5 stars? That is such a tough thing to explain. 4 stars instead of 5 b/c the meal is a little pricey and because the quality of veal is not super high, but it is still good. So here are the things that are exceptional about the restaurant and the food. The service is really friendly. Probably the most outgoing server I had all trip. He was really warm and welcoming to me and to everyone who came in. He also spoke English and was just really nice. I got a dish that has potatoes and cheese and mushrooms and veal and ham on top. It is a southwest french dish called Escalope veau camp agnarde. It is such a good dish. There were really nice duck specials of the day which tempted me, but I had my mind made up on this dish before I even departed from SFO, it was my last day in Paris and I was going to have this dish no matter what and I told them that, lol. It was funny b/c the other waitress who worked there overheard me say that and understood that and came over to drop off the check at the end of the meal and commented on it. She said she also really likes that dish and it was a memorable delicious meal for her too. It was nice that she did that. It helped me express my happiness about the meal. She was also cute! Bread comes free with the meal and so does a bottle of tap water. My meal was 20.40 euros and I was full and happy when I was done. Oh, the dish was dropped in a cool pot. Definitely give this place a try. I saw other people with burgers and other dishes all of which looked really good. Oh I just remembered that I got a really generous portion of salami and toasted bread as an appetizer to munch on while I waited for my food. What a nice touch!

It open late which is great, my whole family went to eat there for dinner. We ordered burger, streak and everything foie gras. The foie gras and the duck meat is perfect, it was a big plate full of duck meat and foie gras. The steak was so so and the burger was so so, definitely come here to eat duck and foie gras. Service was nice, the place is clean and people are friendly. I would recommend this place for foie gras and duck meat

Years later I still think about how the staff of this restaurant abandoned me. I have come to believe this restaurant shouldn't exist, it is one of the worst restaurants in the world. A restaurant is not merely a place you go for base sustenance, but a temple of cultural communion. To severe the social contract between the diner and the staff is to lose every aspect that makes restaurants aesthetic temples; it desecrates any sense of beauty that they might have contained and gifted to the world. There is no beauty at Le Servan; only expensive food. Do yourself a favor and never go.

The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with an energy that made the meal even better. I had a bottle of champagne, which was the ideal way to unwind before the next flight. The mussels were fresh and flavorful, the boudin wonton had the perfect crispy bite with a rich filling, and the duck was cooked just right--crispy skin, tender meat, and a sauce that brought everything together. The owner even came over to check in, adding a personal touch to an already great experience. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at home, whether you're a regular or just passing through. If you ever have a few hours in Paris, Le Servan is worth the stop. Great food, great champagne, and a perfect way to break up a travel day.
