Superb French restaurant in a French town. Everything from service to dessert was excellent. We got reservations couple weeks in advance for a busy Saturday night and luckily the sun was out for a sweet patio experience. The wine and food menus are very limited, the former a bit pricey. Scallop ceviche was a highlight along with lobster cavatelli. Skate wing was flakey and delicious. Portions were all remarkably sizable. Oh, and the peach Madeleine outrageous. We had walked by this place a couple times without much notice. On our last day in Moncton I found it on Yelp and we decided to try it out based on their reviews and proximity to our Airbnb. First impressions -it had a very laid back, yet chic Parisian cafe vibe. The servers were very friendly and attentive, fluttering around refilling water, asking if we needed anything. It wasn't like the typical kind of restaurant where you have one server and all the others ignore you. We had one main server, but others came by to check on us as they passed by. We felt like we were at a friend's house, and were very comfortable. They have a small menu that changes daily, based on what local ingredients are available and freshest. There were 2 Appetizers and 2 Mains, so we ordered one of each. The first appie was Grilled Steak over a beautiful salad. It was a very generous portion, and would probably have been enough as my lunch. The beef was grilled perfectly and the salad was a delightful combination of fresh vegetables. The second appie was the Pork and Duck Terrine. It a generous portion and plated beautifully. We expected it to be softer, like a spread, but it was a more dense substantial meat. For mains we had Beef Confit over veggie chili and Salmon over risotto. The beef was amazing and so tender, melt in your mouth delicious. Even our 4 year old couldn't get enough. It paired perfectly with the lighter veggie chili. The salmon risotto was cooked perfectly as well. The salmon was cooked just enough to be done, but not dry at all. Had a light taste where the fish shone through and wasn't overpowered by seasoning, but wasn't bland. The risotto was creamy and had great texture, not too soft and not too hard. I'm someone that tends to steer away from processed carbs that are not in dessert form and don't normally eat rice or noodles. But I couldn't help myself from eating the risotto. It was definitely worth the calories. Overall, we were blown away by our experience by this small trendy looking restaurant. It looked like the kind of place that you enjoyed going to because of the ambience and amazing servers. The younger, casual staff didn't make us feel like the food would be anything that wowed us. But we were wrong. We were delightfully surprised by combination of fresh local ingredients and artful presentation. Hats off to the chef for cooking everything perfectly. read more

FOODGASM. OK, on to my regular review methodology. Location: Close to the downtown core - for us, it was a 6-minute drive from West Street. Street parking is available but limited so I'd get there a few minutes early in case you need to circle. The place: The space is great - it's small, with bar seating and about a dozen tables or so. Very hip, casual vibe with great tunes. The goods: Well, where oh where do I start? We ate our faces off is where I'll start. I ordered the shrimp as a starter - these were served in a ceramic, covered pot and I think they had been cooked in the oven but I don't know. All I know is that they were served in butter or oil, they were NOT cheap on the serving, and I enjoyed every last one of them along with that delicious crusty bread. But wait - I'm not done. I actually ordered another starter (yes, I am a pig but I shared this one) - olives and anchovies. I'm generally not a fan of anchovies but these were so, so good, with lemon and this nice zest of flavour that initially startled the f*ck out of my taste buds. My friend also approved. In fact, the first words of her mouth were 'Oh my God, WOMAN.' She had the beef tartar and loved it. As a main, I ordered the squid ink risotto (yep, you read right - risotto) with baby turnips and seared scallops. Jesus, Mary and Joseph was it ever good. There's not one thing I didn't like about the dish except for the fact that I had a little too much risotto! My friend ordered the homemade pappardelle with Portobello mushrooms. She didn't say much while she ate which means it was a hit. Then, because we hadn't eaten enough already, we ordered the chocolate tart for dessert. I'm shaking my head as I write this because I'm a) in disblief that I ate that much food and b) I am still in awe of that tart. Service: Great! Our waitress even gave us tips of places to go the next day, and drew us a map of a secret beach spot. Price point: $117 including tip, for all of that deliciousness. I loved everything about this restaurant. It was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The atmosphere is chic without being pretentious. We sat on the patio and the chairs were super comfy. We had a beef Carpaccio for an app. Every mouthful was delightful. Deep-fried capers were the little yummy extra. We both had scallops with gnocchi. Delicious. We were so full but the dessert was a brulee which is my favorite. It was a lemon brulee with cookie crumbles and the most delicious strawberry coulis squares. Each was a flavor explosion in my mouth. The waiters were super friendly and very good at explaining the menu. We will be back! read more

Ok, so it's been a little bit since we lived in the area, but the wife and I visit often due to family and friends. I can say that without a doubt I was excited when Les Brumes du Coude popped up on my radar several months ago. Thank you Facebook. Their main online presence is on Facebook where they post the daily ever changing menu. While the menu is limited to only a few lunch options to go along with a slightly expanded dinner menu of 2-3 appetizers and entrees, everything is at its freshest and prepared on the spot. It's like being invited to someone's house for dinner and they make everything fresh and seasonal. Now, I basically eat anything, but the wife does have some diet restrictions. Either way, we ate there 3 times during our week long visit and returned once to pick up some donuts on Friday, which is typically donut day from what I understand. Each time, we were there with at least one fussy eater, and you know who you are. The chef even made an improvised option from ingredients that he had on hand since none of the lunch options worked for one person. Now, the chef is still limited by what he has on hand, but the effort and option was greatly appreciated. I will give a quick rundown of what we ate. Mussels, salmon toast, smoked salmon app, scallop entree, smoked salmon salad and risotto. We also tried the donuts which were great and they had 3 different flavors when we were there. They have an in house pastry chef who makes all the desserts and pastries, as they serve coffee and pastries throughout the day. The s'mores inspired dessert that we had was phenomenal and that's coming from me, who is not a big fan or dessert or s'mores for that matter. I think that says a lot. We had a good dinner. This is not a high end restaurant but we did have a good dinner. We finished and paid for our cheques and were finishing drinks when one of the waiters came over to say could we please leave because they had people waiting. I had the best meal of a recent 10 day trip to the Maritimes at this fantastic, casual restaurant in Moncton (apologies to those of you in Moncton who want to keep this slightly out-of-the-way gem to yourselves)! We shared a salad with shrimp, avocado and orange; the plat du jour, which was stir fried vegetables with kimchi and a delicious sausage; and hand chopped tartare de boeuf served with large pieces of country bread. I love a good beef tartare, and this is the best one I've had. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the restaurant appealingly rustic, and the food excellent. If you like good, modern French fare, do not miss this place. I only wish it was close enough to where I live to visit it regularly. I love this restaurant. read more

We loved this place. We were visiting Moncton for just a day and our Airbnb host recommended coming here. The food was amazing. The staff was really friendly and explained all the menu items to us (since it was in French and we don't speak French). Very hospitable and high quality food and drink. We came at lunch and I had the tuna with gnocchi and my husband had the pork with potatoes. Both were five stars. Their main website is their Facebook page, which lists their daily menu. This is a diamond in the rough. Oh and it is located in a larger building. We just asked someone in one of the rec rooms where the restaurant was and they point us in the right direction. read more

Extremely cute restaurant inside a re-purposed old school (with a art gallery inside). We were also on a 11 day trip to the Maritimes and this was one of the best meals we had on the entire trip. The service was great, menu was small, concise and well thought out. We shared three dishes, the beer tartare (one of the best tartars we've ever had at a restaurant). The clams and chorizo (home made chorizo) made for a delicious broth, the staff attentively brought us over more bread when realizing we had some broth to soak up. Lastly we had the scallops that were perfected cooked over a bed of green beans. We were extremely happy to have found this place, not many reviews or info online, however 100% worth the visit and money (fair prices). read more
