To the Homestead restaurant, thank you very much for the wonderful time and meal that you made us yesterday on the day of my wife's funeral, you had upwards to 40 people to take care of and you did a great job and your bread pudding was wonderful so many people have never tried it until yesterday and everyone that did try it loved it.I have a funny feeling that you may have just earned yourself forty new customers, as everyone has told me that they will definitely be back from the hand written menu to the beautiful decorations in your restaurant everyone was so truly happy with the way it all turned out. Nice interior wood paneling and lots of booths. The food was boring. The scrambled eggs weren't mixed enough (white and yellow) and what they call "home fries" are nothing more than cubed potatoes with no flavoring and lots of oil. If that's what you like, then this is the place for you. read more

Arrived at 9 a.m. On a Friday. Seated immediately and coffee was on the table before I settled in. +1 for that. Waitress took order quickly and was a very attractive middle aged woman. +2 for that. ( the speed, not the looks, I'm not that shallow, just think she deserved the compliment) Breakfast pictured came in 5 minutes!!! Food was good, homemade brown toast very good. I've been eating here for years. I have never had a negative experience. Every time I've been at the Homestead, the staff has been super friendly, fast, and they know their menu inside and out. Any time my order was going to be "slow", they have always let me know right away. But usually "slow" means 10 minutes instead of 5 to get a fresh meal. Their prices are fantastic, their portion sizes are big, and their food is always amazing. If you're looking for home-style food, eat here! It's incredible! read more

If you're looking for a taste of home cooking, this little diner is the place to go. Great staff, and amazing food. Good portions ensure you won't walk away hungry, and the prices are reasonable. Don't pass up the home fries. If I'm honest, I'm not a fan of home fries ... but these are to die for. My only (complaint?) is that depending on the time of day there'll be a lineup to get in. We went for breakfast last week end. I ordered the $11.00 omelet with a side of hash browns (which was extra $$) and the mister had some sort of hungry-man's platter with two of everything. It took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive, but it was really busy, and we took that to be a sign of awesome food to come. When I cut into my mushroom and cheese omelet, all this hot grey fluid came pouring out and soaked my toast. I mean, ALOT of water. I think the mushrooms were from a can and the liquid wasn't even strained from them. I took a bite, then dug around for a bit...no cheese. None. I decide to stop eating and send it back. So I sit there, watching my husband eat his breakfast, with staff buzzing all around us and no-one came to our table. It was only when he was done eating our waitress appeared and I was able to tell her my mushroom and cheese omelet had no cheese. She takes it away and promises another. Moments later she comes back to inform me the omelet did in fact have cheese, but it's processed and tends to melt away into nothingness when inside an omelet. I say that I'm quite certain that there was no cheese, processed or not. She tells me, plainly, that I'm wrong but the chef is making me a new omelet with cheddar cheese and in the future, that's how I should order it. Wow. Does anybody go to Montana's and say, " I want a burger. But not with the imitation beef you serve everybody else... I'm in the know! I want the real beef!" So the new omelet arrives and this time I know to move the toast out of the way. I cut into it and grayish water spurts out like before. The eggs are prepared well enough, but the filling is tasteless and soaking wet. By this point I'm starving and I don't care anymore. So I eat about a third of the plate while my husband gets to sit there and watch me eat. TL;DR: Canned mushrooms. Processed cheese. Overpriced. Bad service. Nothing home-style in this home-style restaurant.. Also, the dusty deer's head wearing hunter's garb in the dining room is kindof weird and gross. read more

I hate to give a poor review when the staff was so friendly and personable. But the food was really awful. I ordered the fish and chips, and what arrived was a few frozen fish patties and frozen french fries, canned peas, odd-tasting coleslaw, frozen mixed vegetables and a scoop of something orange I didn't recognize (which was actually the only thing on the plate I ended up eating). With a restaurant so close to the ocean, I thought we'd find at least fresh fish and hand-cut fries. Coupled with the shabby, dated interior, it would've been a total loss as a dinner experience, but the wonderfully pleasant waitresses saved the day. Not enough for us to ever want to return, though. read more

The breakfast here is the best. They bake their own bread and it's super tasty!

Great home cooked style food. Very consistent. Gone many times. Even the fries have a great taste (not just a generic fry flavor). The deserts are excellent. I usually order the peanut butter pie, but after sampling the cheesecake and white cake with white icing, I may try expand my choices next time. Went to The Homestead Restaurant for breakfast with friends today. The homemade bread toast is delicious and our eggs were cooked perfectly. Our waitress Debbie was very attentive and fun. We were joking with all the staff and they were picking on our friends who are regulars. Always a pleasure to eat here! read more

I just left here with a bad taste in my mouth. We went for breakfast. We were seated quickly & brought our coffee. Nice with the exception was there was a nice blonde hair floating in it. The hostess apologized & brought a fresh one immediately. I appreciated it & said so. Our food came super fast. Too fast. Mine was cold & my husbands order was barely warm. The waitress only came back to see if things were okay after my husband was done eating. Mine wasn't eatable. She did offer to get a replacement but we were ready to leave so it wasn't an option. At the cash we did tell the lady that we were disappointed in the food & lack of attention by our waitress. She apologized & took the price of my meal off the check which I appreciated as well. At that point our waitress appeared & said that the reason she didn't come back was because a lady spilled her tea and she was cleaning it up. We were two seats over. The clean up took less than five minutes & she had time to clear & reset tables after that. I've spent many years as a waitress so while I was grateful for having the bill adjusted I was disappointed with the waitress appearing & making her excuse ONLY when her supervisor was talked to at the cash. She hadn't made that apology to us before that. We used to enjoy eating here but this will keep us from going back. It's not the first time this sort has happened to us at this establishment. read more
