Location: About a 10-minute drive from the downtown core. They have a parking lot but street parking is also available. The place: As another reviewer said, it's pretty dated in terms of decor but it gives the place character. It's got more of a diner feel to it - very casual and nothing pretentious about the place at all. The goods: I had the early bird which included eggs, a meat of your choice, potatoes and coffee. The eggs were great, the sausage was also really good and so was the coffee. The potatoes didn't have any seasoning so I resolved that problem with ketchup. Overall, it was a solid breakfast and our waitress frequently topped off our coffee. Service: The first woman who sat us came off as pretty grumpy. That said, our actual waitress was great. I haven't been to Hynes in a while, but I went again on a gift card. I always like the waitresses because they are so friendly, however this particular time the service was a little slow. I ordered a Hot Hamburger Sandwich, which was tasty, but considering the complexity of what I ordered, I did expect a little quicker service. The dish had plenty of fries , gravy and peas, but I could tell the patty on the sandwich wasn't very large and was slightly overcooked and a little tough. I am giving this visit, however 3 stars because the detractors weren't exactly the restaurant's fault. It was pretty crowded for 2:30 PM, which speaks to the fine reputation this place has. One off day isn't going to kill it for me. Prices were also a tad high, but that's due to inflation. read more

This place is dated in decor but it's just the kind of home cooking we were looking for after several days of travelling around the Maritimes. I had the all day breakfast option of eggs, bacon and pancakes while my husband had the turkey dinner. It was just what I expected, well made home cooked food. I don't get why it's so busy. Predictable home style food. Their breakfast portions aren't big, and I leave wanting. If you want a hot sandwich and french fries, this might be your place. If you want something uniquely different, there are lots of other great places in town that would fill that need much better. Run down building. read more

Came on a Sunday morning, was packed, and had to wait, but not for long. The turn around was verrrrrry quick. They have a lot of options, a lot of things to try. I got eggs benedict which was decent but not outstanding. The potatoes, I shoulda gotten onions on them, but overall it wasn't bad. My friend didn't really enjoy the corned beef hash, which was more like mashed potatoes with a bit of beef. Their baked beans were yum. The service was great and the wait staff was extremely speedy, I thought they might crash into each other. They take American $ and I'd come back again. read more

There was a lineup but we only waited 10 minutes. Great food, good service and reasonably priced.

It was our first visit to this restaurant and at first I was hesitant but as soon as I opened the door we were greeted by a very friendly host and promptly seated. immediately our server came over to as if we wasted anything to drink. moments later our server then re-apeared as friendly as could be to take our order and she even recomended a few items which we decided to have. within a very short time our meal came out together which was great time appreciation on the kitchen staff for cooking as I have over 27 years in the food industry. the restaurant was full and they have about 6 or 7 servers which work and communicate like a Olympic team and they are are always asking if the customers need anything on a regular basis. in all my experiences in all the different restaurants I have been in, this one tops my list, the food was hot and looked great, the meal was so delicious and generous portions. I was totally impressed with my dining experience that I had to write this review as I am an experienced and seasoned professional in the hospitality industry. well done and keep up the great work and enjoy the reputation you have built. This is one of the origionals in Moncton. They've expanded a few years back due to long line ups at the door to get in. Service is always excellent and they cater to the want of good home cooking with reasonable prices. Great breakfast specials and wholesome food. read more

I have been going to Hynes fir 40 years. It's a very good family restaurant; it's always busy but you usually get a seat in 5 min. The menu is good and includes specials, home made pies and breakfast all day. The service is fast and the food is good. Not good service when something is wrong. Went on a morning it was pretty busy, I order eggs ham and potatoes. It took over 45 minutes for me to get my food and when the food came my potatoes were cold. I decided not to say anything then since it would take another while before I got my food. When the waitress came to bring the bill she never asked how the food was and I had not eaten one of my potatoes... It was full and pretty clear there was something wrong with them. When I complained to the cashier, she had to go find the waitress that served us which took 10 minutes then when she did find her, she told her that I was complaining and then said who and saw us at the cash she then proceeded to give us a dirty look. At the end they just took off a dollar for all this trouble... Will never eat there again. Not a good way to treat clients... read more

My wife and I are 2 of the "dreaded" seniors that eat there whenever we are in Moncton. How we love to sit down in a booth and complain, make our selections slowly and lengthily finish our coffee after completing our meal. I especially enjoy the clams and chips. My wife usually has the fish and chips. Sometimes we go really wild and have roast beef dinner or whatever the special is for that day. IWe have never had a bad meal or service when there and reasonable prices. If someone is not imoressed by the decor piss off to somewhere else. read more

If you are looking for a cheap, filling breakfast, this is the place. This place is well known by everyone. The decor of the place is very outdated as well as the menu, but the place is always buzzing with mostly seniors. I had the eggs benedict, which is my favorite kind of egg dish,but Hynes version of it failed to impress me. The hollandaise sauce was bland, floury. The texture was not very appealing, it was separating. It was there, but without purpose in my plate. I was looking forward to some and I ended up very disappointed. The pan fries I regretted not taking deep fried, my pan fries looked like overboiled potatoes sauteed with onions. The food was not all that appetizing when you looked at it. But considering the cost, I shouldn't complain, but I won't be going there again for eggs benedict, it could just be that kind isn't their specialty, but I might try something else from the menu for lunch or diner. The person with me very much enjoyed the Breakfast special. I have to hand it to Hynes, the eggs were cooked like we wanted them. My eggs benedicted were medium soft as I asked and the person with me got very nice sunny side up. read more

Things have gone down hill recently. We went for breakfast and the food was mediocre. No garnish in the plate just a couple of overcooked sausages and cupple of too well done eggs. Still it's busy some people must be satisfied. We were not and will not be returning any time soon read more

I have eaten here a couple of times. One time I went the fish was the best that I ever tasted. Then the other times it was just average. But the last time I went the fish was horrible. My sister got a one piece fish and chip (kids meal) and I gotta 3 piece. My sisters piece of fish was perfect but mine were horrible. Outside was burnt. Inside wasn't fully cooked. I told the waiter. She came back to give me 3 more pieces of fish that was just as horrible as the previous 3. I had to pay for the whole meal. That's the second time that happened. What I'm saying is the fish is extremely inconsistent. Sometimes it is awesome. Sometimes it is terrible. I don't go there anymore cause it's not worth the risk that it's going to be cooked correctly. The fries were awesome only because I had to ask for them to be cooked a little bit more. I would not go there if you plan on getting fish. read more
