When we purchased our home, we inherited a very unique front stoop. We loved the round cathedral shape and large size but the original wood material proved very hard to keep in good condition through the seasons and so we decided to replace it with Pennsylvania Blue flagstone. We hired Leon to replace the crowns on two chimneys and related brick tuckpointing. I recommend Leon on all fronts: price, quality of work, and professionalism. Right from the start, I was impressed with his communication, responding within the day to schedule my request for a quotation. We are extremely satisfied with the work completed by Leon's Masonry on our patio. Before deciding to go with Leon, we met with several companies but none came close to the level of attention Leon provided. During the initial consultation, Leon took the time to really hear what we wanted while providing feedback and advice. At the beginning of the project, Leon went with us to help pick out the right materials (e.g. pavers, wall, etc.) for the work. Every single day of the project, Leon and his crew arrived on site early and worked tirelessly. We came across Luis from another contractor who does joint projects with him as we are renovating a mid-century home. He came highly recommended and since we have an older house with reclaimed brick we knew we needed someone who loved and understood what we were dealing with and our desire to preserve the character. He is very knowledgeable and is great at explaining. I don't always like the answers but I do respect that he is giving me an honest viewpoint. Old houses are like onions where you peel away the layers and he has been very helpful with us in prioritizing our projects, working with our budget, and creative with the ideas I have. I admit I am a demanding person, hopefully in a nice way, but we all want what we want... We are very happy and satisfied with all his work and the various projects he has done for us. Just to note, we have had him (so far) do chimney work outside that was restoration and repair, brick pointing work for our portico, install a new fireplace hearth and clean/repoint the entire fascia, as well as completely repair our fire box. I had a recommended contractor lined up to repair & point my leaky chimney. He said he would put a tarp on it to protect it from rain but he didn't show. It was getting ready to rain and I was about to try to cover my chimney myself when Luis Leon of Leon's Masonry Services returned my call on a Saturday morning. He came out about twenty minutes later to look at the chimney. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. He explained everything about what needed to be done. His recommendations were more thorough and extensive than the previous contractor's and he gave me a verbal estimate on the spot followed up later in writing. He then covered my chimney to protect it from the coming rain AT NO CHARGE before I had agreed to hire him. He told me he was very good at what he did and recommended I interview other contractors but that he would perform the most thorough and complete job. I hired him. He did what he said he would in a timely, courteous and professional manner. My chimney looks like new and I could not be more pleased. A previous review suggested he was arrogant. I would say if he was it was EARNED arrogance, more like confidence. The man knows his business and isn't afraid to say so. It ain't bragging if it's true! Leon's Masonry recently completed several restoration and repair projects for me; restoring several hundred square feet of slate around my swimming pool and on a 10 x 20 deck and repairing my chimney crown. Finding a high quality, reasonably priced stone mason can be a risky proposition, however with Leon's Masonry you won't go wrong. Thinks he is the best and prefers that the customer not get other quotes or do their research since (according to him) he and his crew cannot be beat in value or quality. I did not choose to go with him simply because of his arrogance. I like to work with humble people.
