You're literally welcomed into their home and invited to sit around their kitchen table for cake tasting--such a personal and memorable touch! They prepare multiple flavors for you to try (and even pack them up to take home). Their cakes are absolutely stunning--beautiful piping, elegant decoration, and flavors that are out of this world (try the cinnamon roll cake!). Our guests loved that we had a variety of little cake cups with different cakes, fillings, and frostings. Every single one was delicious! But what really sets them apart is who they are as people: kind, genuine, and so easy to work with. They're the kind of people you just feel good having in your life. They are truly the whole experience.

After checking the trusty yelp app, Baker's Dozen was the obvious choose for a quick bite to eat before I unknowingly fell asleep for another two hours. This place is pretty dang big and seems to have a few locations in eastern Connecticut. The staff was nice, the donut selection was even nicer, and for a donut shop, it was a great looking shop too. I settled on an Oreo cookie donut as well as a chocolate sprinkle donut with some milk to wash it down. Both donuts get a big thumbs up from me and I made sure no crumbs were left behind. They tasted fresh and I can't help but think people should absolutely be choosing this over another lackluster Dunkin' location. Overall, I really enjoyed Baker's Dozen and I would absolutely indulge in some donuts on my next trip.

Sometimes you are driving through a small Connecticut town and you simply stumble past a small…read morecandy and dessert shop, so what are you supposed to do? Well, you stop and give it a try. I was passing through Brooklyn yesterday when I stumbled across Sadie's Sweet Shop with just a little bit of time to kill. This small shop had a ton of candy that seems to be made by then (I got some rock candy for my wife) and of course the main reason I stopped, ice cream. I ended up getting a two scoop cone with some sort of almond joy scoop as well as the flavour I look for everywhere, Cookie Monster. Both flavours of ice cream were solid and I have zero complaints. This might be the first time I had almond joy ice cream and I thought it was pretty good. Overall, this was a small review for a small ice cream shop. Sadie's Sweet Shop had small town vibes and served simple and tasty ice cream. Can't really ask for much else can you?

Buck's provides a perfect example of what happens when great value, exceptional service, family…read morefriendly atmosphere, and a superior product all combine to grant patrons exactly what they're looking for. An evening at Buck's is a kid's dream. While waiting in line for their favorite treat (more on that soon) they are free to wander and check out the farm animals on site (chicken, goats, etc) as well as run around and play, as there is ample room to do so. Speaking of lines, you can certainly expect them....but don't be scared off and turn around. The long lines speak to Buck's greatness. However, they move quickly as the staff is masterful at helping customers, processing orders, and keeping things moving along. After making your order be sure to peek behind the window to take a look at the crew as they concoct the most amazing looking (and tasting) creations you can imagine. Definitely check out the menu as the offerings are numerous and far too many to name here, but in short you can get anything from your normal cones, ice cream sandwiches, and banana splits, to their famous 'nor easter' which blends ice cream and mix-ins of your choosing. There is also a stocked freezer with products to bring home for later. Prices are more than reasonable, and you receive a ton of value for what you pay. Picnic tables are available for you to sit and enjoy your ice cream as you watch the sunset and maybe feed the goats, or maybe take a cue from the many others you'll see sitting on their tailgates or relaxing in their cars.
