We love picking a place and taking back roads to get there. This was an hour off the highway drive from Coventry. It was Soooooooo worth the trip. The best soft serve ever. We had Noreasters. The menu is massive and flavor combinations endless. Animals on site and you can feed them. There are machines that take quarters for the feed. Lots of parking and plenty of picnic tables to sit at. We cant wait to take the trek in the summer time.

Yummy

Best ice cream I ever had. So much to pick from. People working there are so nice. Go with the family feed the animals

Bucks Cookie Monster Nor'Easter w/ Peanut Butter - Small (9 oz)

Sooo...Did not expect something awesome in the middle of nowhere...Kudos to you Buck's! This place is tucked away off a 2-lane highway in the middle of a forest. The road leading up to the place is a single-lane road with no markings. Though they have signs showing how to get to them, they are small, have their name and a single picture of an ice cream cone. Make no mistake though, the locals all know this place to be a mecca for good ice cream. So as soon as the weather took a turn to the balmy, my girlfriend and I made the trek to this small nestled nook to get a nice little sweet treat. I did like their choices for the locale. It's effectively some guys larger house that has a small trailer where the ice cream is prepped and ordered from. They have a small petting zoo of animals. Bunnies and chickens are on the outskirts of the line so curious kids can see the farm animals while their parents go over the gigantic menu. Their ice cream flavors are simple, they do soft serve only and they do vanilla, chocolate, or twist. The toppings are what make it memorable, and they have Tons of options. Syrups, cookie bits, fruit, candies, they have an immense selection and loads of ways to load up your ice cream. With so many options, it's tough to come up with an answer with what you want right away. So they provided a list of common mixes and what they contained, also a flavor profile list to help even narrow it down even further. Really cool for them to do so, made choosing a lot easier. I did the "cookie monster" Nor'easter. Kind of like a blizzard, without the copyright issues. Ice cream with mixed cookies and candies, up to 3. Mine came with oreo's, cookie dough bits, and brownie bits. Also did a peanut butter drizzle, because the diet was already ruined so I might as well live it up. The ice cream is sweet but not overly sweet, not icy nor dense. It's very solid soft serve ice cream. The mix-ins were soft and flavorful, also very plentiful. There was lots of bits in the single serving I got, pretty much each bite had at least some bit of oreo or brownie or cookie in it. The price is awesome as well. 3 bucks for a small is an amazing deal, and the portion size is just right for a treat. They have larger sizes for those with a bigger sweet tooth, but for me a small is about right. Overall, an amazing little local locale with its own charm and very tasty ice cream treats. If you ever manage to find yourself in this area, or if you want to make the trek out to see this neck of the woods, please feel free to go out of the way to give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

We stopped here during a camping trip because my brother and sister-in-law rave about their icecream. The line was a lot longer than I expected, but it was helpful that there was a menu in the back so we could be prepared to order and keep things moving smoothly. And the line definitely moved smoothly. We placed our order at the first window and were served fairly quickly at the second window. As promised, everything we ordered was delicious. They even had my son's favorite pistachio Icecream. The farm animals were a nice touch to keep the kids busy and there were plenty of picnic tables and garbage cans.

A soft serve ice cream stand in a rural area of Connecticut. Off the beaten track, but worth the drive. The small sundae was way to much to eat at one sitting. Really a fun place to enjoy your favorite ice cream.

I've been to this area many times but never to Bucks nor knew this place existed until today. It's a cute little building next to their home and farm in a rural residential area. When I first pulled in I couldn't believe how long the line was or how busy the parking area was! It's kind of funny to see such a hopping, popular, busy ice cream place in the middle of a quiet, scenic, beautiful rural area. While waiting though they had adorable goats (each labeled with their name, and there was a feeder so you could feed them), chickens, bunnies, and cows to look at. They did have a grab and go area that would've skipped the line, but I didn't mind waiting. If you don't feel like waiting in line though I highly recommend the grab and go though bc they had LOTS of flavors and sizes of soft serve, fruit bars, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cakes, etc all ready to go without any line or wait. Their menu is extensive--pretty much every combination of soft serve in drink or sundae form you can imagine and sooooo many different soft serve flavors! They have gluten free cones and non-dairy options available too! There is a picnic area for eating, and I could see kids loving the petting zoo area. The portions are huge! I got a bucks/kid size cone of the cotton candy and it's what would be a small elsewhere--delicious, smooth, but tasted mostly like vanilla. I also tried the rasp fudge nor'easter which was chock full of toppings and everything! The explanation of a nor'easter I heard today which captured it well is it that instead of a sundae with all the fun stuff on top, a nor'easter is a layered sundae with the sauces lining the cup, layered throughout, with more of the toppings and sauces in with the ice cream. I got a small and it was a full meal--quite a big size, very good. When I compare Bucks to the soft serve place 20 min away in Ashford, the soft serve smooth deliciousness is probably similar, and while the other place has some food (burgers, hotdogs), Bucks ice cream menu is better as they definitely have more soft serve flavors, toppings, combos, drinks, nondairy and gluten free options. I would definitely return to Bucks as they have a great quality ice cream in a beautiful setting, making it a really fun experience. Really glad a place like Bucks exists out here in Woodstock!

Great soft serve ice cream. Lots of flavors and add ons. My partner picked a cherry chocolate with vanilla ice cream, I got a peach crisp with vanilla ice cream. They had tables to sit at outside, but it was raining so we ate ours in the car.

Vanilla in a cone with toasted, coconut hard shell.

This is probably the best soft serve I've ever had. You could do their plain old vanilla and it will fully satisfy. I frequently get their vanilla in a cone with toasted coconut hard shell. They also do a 'bucks' size which is only a dollar and perfect for kids.

Yep, they are still making The Heather for those who have a serious ice cream problem, like my husband!!

After all, they make their own 16% premium ice cream in dozens of flavors. You'll see a long narrow building with an ordering window and a few menu boards advertising the flavors and serving options (cups, cones, sundaes, frappes, floats, and cakes). On the right side of the building is a country store selling pre-packaged beef, pork, dairy, groceries, and clothing. We did see a pretty good sale on $10 sweatpants! But on this rainy day we stopped for ice cream and picked up two cones for under $10. My wife went with Cricket Crunch (Vanilla ice cream with mint cookies and chocolate chips) and I went with Ayrshire Chip (Strawberry ice cream with chocolate chips). We both thought the ice cream was extraordinary, with a creamy texture, excellent flavors, and yummy chocolate chips. There isn't any seating inside, save for a bench, but there is plenty outside under a tent. Today was raining, so the tent seating was drenched, and we had our cones in the car. The rainy weather and muddy grounds also discouraged us from walking over to the barns to see the animals, which surely are a big hit with visiting children. So, if you' and your loved ones are ice cream nerds like we are, head on over to Connecticut's Quiet Corner and enjoy a sweet experience.

Love going to this place year round!…read more THE CREAM My go to is a classic chocolate soft serve in a cone. Very tasty! I've also had milkshakes from there that are very good. Tonight my partner got a strawberry milkshake and it was so delicious and refreshing!! Will definitely be getting that again in the future. THE STAFF Typically we go here on weeknights and I feel like it's usually just one girl working so if you got at a busier time there might be a bit of a wait. THE LOCATION Love the seating that they offer. There's a handful of tables with umbrellas but also plenty of really nice and colorful Adirondack chairs. It's very relaxing to sit in them in the nice grassy area and enjoy your ice cream! One thing I will say is I wish they allowed you to tip on credit card purchases. We almost never have cash on us and the young girls working (especially when hustling by themselves!) really deserve tips. I bet they lose out on so many because they aren't able to get it on card purchases from the outdoor walk up window.
