While there are many cultural institutions in the Museum District, this is still one of my favorite destinations in the city. The building's architecture is incredibly unique, which is often the reaction from most people who come across it for first time. The modern and elegant touches are the work of renowned Japanese architect Yoshiro Taniguchi. The entire place feels peaceful, with a unique combination of stone, wood, gardens, glass, and natural light. It feels so simple, but yet is so sophisticated. The gallery spaces are beautiful. There is also a performing arts theater that is intimate and memorable. It's a fabulous place to attend an event, explore on one's own, and more importantly, learn something interesting and new. All visitors to Houston or even locals to Houston, owe it to themselves to experience the Asia Society. This isn't simply a museum or a place to check it out a play, it's really an opportunity to engage. There's always something interesting happening here and it's a great way to soak in a bit of history while embracing the many learnings through connection, art, architecture, and culture.

I'll say my kids were confused and disappointed that it was a really train that moved but they loved the inside and had fun traveling to also the places even if it was by tv screen. With Houston hosting matches, I imagined fans from around the world chanting, singing, and creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. The biggest disappointment was the lack of energy. People wore jerseys representing their teams, but there was very little cheering or interaction. Surprisingly, the festival seemed to feature more NASA exhibits than World Cup exhibits. As an engineer, I enjoy anything related to space, but it felt out of place at a FIFA Fan Festival. Note the Houston Hall was the best place to watch the matches because it was indoors with air conditioning. There were long lines throughout the venue--for entry, exhibits, and giveaways. The Bank of America bracelet booth regularly had 30+ minute waits, and I was shocked to later see those free bracelets listed on Facebook Marketplace for over $100. Food and drinks were also expensive ($8 for a Coke and $6 for bottled water), and most food trucks didn't display prices, so you had to wait in line just to ask. Similarly, prices weren't listed on the football jerseys so you had to keep going to the check counter to ask how much; pretty annoying! On the plus side, you can bring an empty clear water bottle (remove the label) and refill it at the free water stations. They also provide complimentary sunscreen, which was a thoughtful touch. I also want to recognize the staff and volunteers, who did a great job keeping things running smoothly. Many were friendly, helpful, and happy to answer questions throughout the day. If you plan to visit, arrive early, especially for popular matches, as capacity is limited. I also recommend parking at the Harrisburg Metro Garage for just $1 after validating a METRORail ticket, then taking the train two stops to the festival. It's much cheaper than parking nearby. I'm glad I went once to experience it, but I wouldn't go back and don't recommend. I'd much rather enjoy the matches at home with air conditioning and an ice-cold beer in my hand. More than anything, I wish the festival had embraced the passion and culture of the World Cup. Instead of feeling like one of the world's biggest sporting events was taking place just minutes away, it felt surprisingly dull.

This place ideally works best in groups of 5, but we saw many combinations of families, friends, date nights, etc. We simply reserved online, checked in at the desk, put our stuff in a locker, scanned our wristbands, then went crazy trying all of the different game options. There is a variety of teamwork based games, competitive individual games, strategy, physical, speed, and mind games available. My personal favorites were mega grid, sequence, asteroids, and basketball. I won't give them all away though because that's part of the fun is seeing what all Activate has to offer. Overall, Activate is guaranteed to be a good time. My friend group can get competitive so we got into it for sure. My only small complaint here is that when this place gets busy, you'll have to wait for a room to open up. Come during off peak times and it's literally endless fun, enjoy!

The environment was nice and welcoming, the events were fun, and for the first time in my entire educational journey I felt inspired to actually learn. Never once did I feel unsafe in this school. Ms. Westbrook, Mrs. Samuelson, Ms. Fernandez, Mr. Brunsell, Mrs. Lumpkins, Ms. Cabana, and Ms. Ezzell were all WONDERFUL teachers who I will forever hold dear to my heart.
