Public tennis courts which are basically the high school's tennis courts are fantastic. Parking is easy and across a not busy street and the courts are well maintained. I don't think the bathrooms were open but why would they be? Had a tennis lesson here for my kid and they were excellent. read more

Graduate of 2025 here! I absolutely loved James E. Taylor High School. The environment was nice and welcoming, the events were fun, and for the first time in my entire educational journey I felt inspired to actually learn. Never once did I feel unsafe in this school. Ms. Westbrook, Mrs. Samuelson, Ms. Fernandez, Mr. Brunsell, Mrs. Lumpkins, Ms. Cabana, and Ms. Ezzell were all WONDERFUL teachers who I will forever hold dear to my heart. My high school was built during a time when sunlight was thought to distract students from focusing on their work and make them less cooperative with the Authority. The result of this idiotic thinking was the omission of windows in every single classroom and hallway in the entire campus. There were many other issues as well, but I'll leave it be. It was the darkest four years of my life -literally! I will not be coming back. read more

Great school, staff and very mature friendly students- excited to become part of this campus

There is very little actual learning here. The teachers cannot teach and do not know their subjects. They spend every class period grading, while the students silently work on whatever meaningless assignment was assigned for the week. In addition, there is no discussion of the books read in class, and the students, after reading, are to immediately begin writing in-class essays on the book that do not address the meaning of the book, but its literary techniques. This is not a learning environment. read more

I wasn't crazy about the super competitive grade-grubbing. It got tiresome after a while. And there were some people (courtesy of the AP system) who DID get highe than the 4.0. I could not WAIT to leave for the real world and prove my stuff Hindsight puts it in perspective though. It's nice not having to worry about bills--or how to make rent. Everything here now seem so small, and oddly not as intimidating anymore :) Yes, you will miss it after a while. read more

I wish there was negative stars for reviews. I hated this school and the almost all of the staff there. They only cared about test results and school work a.k.a. "busy work" that keeps the student(s) occupied due to the teacher's incompetence. I mean seriously, I had a guy who was an architect major attempt to teach me algebra who hit on my classmates my freshman year until I dropped into an almost remedial course to actually learn the subject. Drugs and stupidity run rampant here. But I guess that's what happens when you mix lower class kids with upper-middle class and upper class kids. The wrestling and history progams here were good though. So, I guess that's alright. But other than that, I hope this school gets a staff overhaul soon. I had to drop out from here and re-enroll at a different KatyISD School just to get away from it all, and at that I spent two weeks out of school in attempt to transfer records, then re-enroll at Taylor for one day, just to leave and wait 4 more days at the other school just to get in.
