ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE OF A SCHOOL!!!! My toddler was enrolled…read morehere for THIRTY days! I should have read the poor reviews before considering this school. From the very beginning it was chaotic. At orientation the principal announces that the pre-k teacher was no longer employed, and they were putting in two interim teachers who had been with the school for years. School started the following week so of course by this time it's too late to find your child a different placement. First week of school both interim teachers quit in the middle of the week, which led to two pre-k classes being combined and being taught by the teacher's aide. They then hired an uncertified "pre-k teacher" with only a high school diploma. Of course I wanted to meet her so I walk my child into the classroom and the new teacher just stands there, not even attempting to greet me or my child. After standing there for several minutes I decided to go ahead and introduce myself and my child. Second week of school I notice my child's lunch keeps coming home untouched, which was odd because I packed all his favorite foods. I then realized the school was not assisting him in opening the containers, so he was going from 7:45am-5:45pm with no food just a snack. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they denied not opening the containers, however, after that conversation I noticed his containers would come back with the food eaten. The following week I noticed when he would have toileting accidents, he would come home in someone else's pull-up even though I would pack additional underwear and pull-ups in his backpack. One day I picked him up from school and he reeked of urine. When I changed his clothes, I noticed he had on a dry pull-up, was put back in the urinated pants, but his change of clothes was still in his backpack. On his fourth week, the school had the audacity to call CPS on my family with claims of physical abuse. On this day I went to the school to pick up my child and was approached by a CPS investigator. Two nights prior my toddler decides to climb into my infant's activity chair and gets his legs stuck inside causing a bruise on his legs. Thank goodness I have cameras throughout my home and was able to share the video footage of the incident from start to finish with the investigator where it shows how it took me five minutes to pry him out of the chair, and me putting ice packs on his legs to try and reduce the swelling and bruising. The investigators statement was "this was just a boy being a boy," (my exact thoughts). However, the thought of what could have happened had I not had that footage is devastating. Not to mention both my fiancé and I hold professional state licenses working with children. The issues this could have caused us professionally had we not had video proof is insurmountable. To add more to the embarrassment and humiliation the investigator had to do her due diligence of contacting my nanny and other friends of the family for statements. If you are a parent looking for a nurturing, positive learning environment where your child will flourish and has a low staff turnover, I recommend finding a school with trained, certified, and professional staff.

Unqualified, low qualified, non fluent English speaking teachers hired to teach AP classes, coaches teaching AP Classes so as the students are not prepared for AP exams. Minimal oversight on teachers. Teachers creating their own policies that are not compliant with district policies. Students that want to eagerly participate in sports are discouraged by coaches behaviors, tempers and failure to follow district policies about training in outdoor heat in access of 100 degrees. Coaches pick and keep "favorite athletes". The tryouts are just to go thru the motions to keep an" appearance of fairness" Some Clubs are fictional on the website, where most don't exist, the ones that do exist are disorganized and poorly run (teachers canceling last minute and late to their own meetings). The school is absolute garbage. Support staff are a joke and the counselors have little knowledge on how to advise the kids. Parents and kids will get the runaround if asking questions. If you are new. Good luck to you and your kids finding out when anything happens. The school staff will tell you sign up for Twitter to find out. For the amount if taxes to go to this school, save yoreself the grief and go to another district l together. #LCISD IS GARBAGE.

This is most evident on chilly winter nights when Stratford plays a home football game at the adjacent Tully Stadium. I know it's time to pack up and head over to watch the game when I start hearing the Stratford band's drum section and the sound of the announcer's voice reverberate throughout the neighborhood. It is the single most important cohesive force in the area. Everyone goes to the game. It's three generations now: grandparents, parents (many who attended Stratford themselves) and the kids. Other neighbors who have no affiliation with Stratford at all go because it's where everyone else is on a Friday night. For hardcore Stratford fans, Stratford's 1978 Division 5A State Championship team will always loom large. Visions of more football glory of this sort cropped up again during the 2007 fall season because a phenomenal athlete, Andrew Luck (son of Oliver Luck who was a quarterback for the Oilers and is currently the President of the Houston Dynamo), was able to hoist the whole football program on his shoulders, quarterback them to the district title and then power the team through several early rounds of the state championship tournament. Now that Stratford's football program is back to its normal mediocrity in the post-Luck era, Stratford fans are content when the team beats its arch-rival, Memorial High School. In many ways, it's a pity that, here in Texas, the football program defines a school's identity. At Stratford for instance, the girl's volleyball team is much more of a perennial contender in the city and state than the football program ever has been. I've had one daughter graduate from Stratford, another currently is a student there and I have son who's in the queue to attend Stratford when he gets out of Middle School. I believe my kids are lucky. Stratford is consistently one of the highest-ranked schools in the United States per Newsweek magazine. It has an outstanding orchestra program. The Stratford Playhouse puts on productions of which many college programs would be very envious. Its Academy of Science and Engineering provides a unique opportunity for America's future technology leaders to flex their mental muscles. The best endorsement I can give the school, however, is to repeat what my daughter (who just completed her first semester at UT Austin) told me after making UT's honor role: "Dad, Stratford actually prepared me very well for college." Good job, Stratford. Go Spartans!

The environment was nice and welcoming, the events were fun, and for the first time in my entire educational journey I felt inspired to actually learn. Never once did I feel unsafe in this school. Ms. Westbrook, Mrs. Samuelson, Ms. Fernandez, Mr. Brunsell, Mrs. Lumpkins, Ms. Cabana, and Ms. Ezzell were all WONDERFUL teachers who I will forever hold dear to my heart. I wanted to enroll my kid for reading and math and he said "honestly you don't want to overwhelm him with to much" I would do just math. Mind you, you pay per subject... So I also liked the fact that he made us aware of that. Came in expecting to start my son with fractions and found out that he needed more work that what I thought. He reviewed the tests in front of us, we had my son tested for reading and math. The place is small, clean, free of distractions.

Unfortunately, today I have been informed that she is no longer apart of the building, which is so sad to hear. Certainly she was not fired for anything if she was allowed to continue the full work day, which I feel is very unprofessional and even the hardest thing ever for her. This quickly changed my view on this Lighthouse. They have no care on how things affect people, parents, or children.
