These are just a few words that describe this awesome guitar instructor. I highly recommend Jim, and if you were to sign up, I don't think you would regret it for a minute. I got my grandson started in guitars about a year and a half ago. I became extremely tired of seeing nothing but the top of his head all the time while his beak was buried in his phone doing nothing but playing video games. We started down this journey together. I already had an acoustic guitar I had bought for my son many years ago. So, I bought another one for myself and started taking him to guitar lessons. My thought was we would do this together... like a buddy system. I became very frustrated because the instructors we used didn't seem to have any plan and had zero organization. Don't get me wrong, they were great guys and good musicians, but weak instructors. When the primary instructor was no longer available, I started looking for a new one. I did an internet search and came across Jim's name. I gave him a call and he talked with me for the better part of an hour to determine if he was going to be a good fit. Well, he was... absolutely he was! We've been going to Jim for a couple of months now and my grandson's interest has been renewed. Now he Is motivated, practices more, and really likes Jim. Not to mention, I piggyback off of the lesson and practice the same things he is teaching my grandson. To sum it up what I like about Jim Maguire is he is genuine, and I feel like he really cares about his students. You can tell just by looking at him during one of his lessons. He's always smiling, but his face really lights up when my grandson is hitting the notes and chords they are working on. A very inspiring and motivating instructor. Please note that CFMA does not follow the Cy-Fair ISD or any school calendar year for that matter. If your lesson doesn't fall on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas, expect your kid to have a lesson that week (instead of an opt-in for a camp like before) and you pay full rate regardless if you're out of town for break. I voiced my concerns several times having noticed this change since the departure of Ms. Nancy, but CFMA said that "this is their policy going forward". Well, you lost a customer x2 the way this was handled, having had my kid enroll for the past 4 years and my youngest this past year. No more trophies, no more incentive wristbands, no more workbooks avail for purchase - you buy your own and well, you get the picture. Teachers are great; management, truth be told, could improve on their end.
