On top of that, I hate wearing glasses because even after paying extra for the thinner lens, my lenses are so thick that I look ridiculous wearing them. This year was different. My insurance changed so I looked for a new eye care place near our home in Maplewood. I came across this location and chose it because they had Saturday hours and good deals through my insurance. My eye exam was quick and painless, and I came out with a new glasses and contacts prescription. I went to pick our glasses. Instead of searching through a ton of mediocre frames and waiting in line for what seems forever to get someone to assist you, I was helped quickly by someone that understands my style and need for a frame that goes well with my thick lenses. She walked me through all of my options and got me the cheapest set of the best glasses possible (anti reflective, thinner lenses, the whole 9 yards). After ordering them, I was led to the counter where I also ordered contacts and was given a rebate form to send in once I received them. A week later, my contacts arrived at my home and less than two weeks later, my glasses arrived. They are amazing! For literally years, probably 15 to give perspective, I've only worn glasses at night because I hate how I couldn't see as well with them and how bad they looked on me. Now I wear them whenever my eyes are tired or just for fun! It's so nice to be able to give my eyes a break, especially when I work overnights or long hours in the hospital. I highly recommend this place. They have a huge selection of awesome glasses, service is quick and painful, and the staff are all super nice and eager to help. So glad I came here!

Dr Alan…read moreLee (35+/-), educated at Univ of Wisconsin Madison Med School and the New England School of Optometry Boston, handles eye EMERGENCIES, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, pink eye, foreign object removal etc etc. I needed to have a very complex eye lense made because of an elevator accident 5 years ago. So it took a lot of research to find a SKILLED optician with full medical training. I wanted to AVOID at all cost going to a MASS MERCHANT like Pearle Vision, etc etc. I was shocked to find Dr Alan Lee's shop and practice so close to 94 East on White Bear Lake Road, and it was SPACIOUS modern with a carefully planned broad selection of glass frames from designer to moderate. (They also carry contact lenses.) I have a background years ago in fashion merchandising ( BloomingdalesNYC right out of college), and i found the selection surprisingly very good. Dr Lee majored in biology and neurobiology at U of Wisconsin Madison Med School and received his Doctor of Optometry in Boston at the highly respected New England College of Optometry. He was relaxed, friendly, not rushed and carefully checked all details of my prescription and exact placement of the various complex components of my special lenses. He has an assistant to help and appointments are advised. They accept all insurance and i had zero problems with this process. I received my new frames and lenses in less than 2 weeks. This is a rare find.

I came in with high hopes -- little did I know it would take almost 3 months to finally get my…read moreglasses. It started with my prescription needing to be adjusted, and the optometrist was incredibly condescending throughout the process. At first, Nikki was kind and said they'd remake the lenses with the new prescription. Weeks later, the lenses came back -- but with the old prescription. They remade them again, this time with the correct prescription, but then the frames broke, so they had to reorder them. When the new frames arrived, they were different from the original ones I chose. When I pointed this out, they insisted it was the same model and that the manufacturer "must have changed them." Instead of apologizing, they said they'd see which frames fit my lenses -- as if I should just accept whatever worked. By this point, I'd been back multiple times, only because of their repeated mistakes, yet they treated me like I was the problem. It wasn't until I insisted on a refund that they finally agreed to make another pair in the correct frames. This entire process was an absolute nightmare -- disorganized, rude, and completely lacking accountability. Steer clear.

My husband came home one day singing her praises and I was skeptical because, well, it's a MALL. I kind of expected a revolving door of doctors, you know? Then I met her. She's so cool. She explains everything that she's doing and she really takes her time with her patients. She's been helping my husband keep glaucoma at bay for a couple of years now and for myself, I thought I was going blind over the last few months. Turns out, my eyes are just extremely dry. She prescribed some drops and suggested a good OTC brand and within days I was seeing SO much better. I had mentioned that my arthritic knees were really bothering me. When I went for my follow up appointment, the assistant had two chairs for me to choose from so I would be comfortable! I thought that was so nice! She's testing a number of things to make sure I can get the proper prescription and that I can treat my dry eyes here at home. I have happy eyeballs once again. :)

I had my eye exam in early January and also had the Retinal imaging completed. At the time, I…read morerequested that the images would be sent to be by email for my records, which is what they did for me last year. The really nice staff said they could do that again, however, they needed the manager to send it to me. That was about 20 days ago, and I have called to follow-up 3 times since then and the staff said they would let the manager know to send it to me. I have not received the same and it appears that the manager is not following up on it.

When I got to the store I seen Cas A she was very kind and understanding and said she could probably fix them as long as the metal don't break when I bend it back in place. She got to work and within 10 minutes I walked out with repaired glasses that fit better than when I purchased them new. Watching Cas work was like watching a surgeon operate, she was swift and knew exactly what she needed to do.
