I have had my issues with service (with the technicians) in the past, but over the last couple of years it has improved. (Don't get me started on the prices, though...you need a second mortgage to afford glasses these days!) My high rating is for Dr. Philippe. She is amazing! My husband came home one day singing her praises and I was skeptical because, well, it's a MALL. I kind of expected a revolving door of doctors, you know? Then I met her. She's so cool. She explains everything that she's doing and she really takes her time with her patients. She's been helping my husband keep glaucoma at bay for a couple of years now and for myself, I thought I was going blind over the last few months. Turns out, my eyes are just extremely dry. She prescribed some drops and suggested a good OTC brand and within days I was seeing SO much better. I had mentioned that my arthritic knees were really bothering me. When I went for my follow up appointment, the assistant had two chairs for me to choose from so I would be comfortable! I thought that was so nice! She's testing a number of things to make sure I can get the proper prescription and that I can treat my dry eyes here at home. I have happy eyeballs once again. :) read more

This location is located in Maplewood mall and they do not have a restroom that customers (who are spending lots of money) can use? My husband is blind in one eye. He went in for a eye exam. Doctor said time for a new prescription. Three pair of glasses later the bill was over a thousand dollars. His vision is very important and we were ok with the cost. After three return visits in a month and a half glasses are still not correct. He decided to return all three pairs and go elsewhere. Pearl charged him 80$ for each pair of glasses returned! They called it restocking fee. This is absolutely ridiculous. Do not go to Pearl! read more

Although Austin was very helpful and pleasant to work with, my experience here was horrible. I came in today to get prescription lenses put into my ray bans and to order a new pair of glasses (frames + lenses). After weighing out options and pricing my total was over $680. I thought this was a pretty good deal considering the brand of lenses and frames i was getting and all the add ons. They even had my prescription in stock and told me to come back in an hour to pick up my new glasses! Once i returned however, my experience started to go from good to bad. The glasses were crooked so a lady adjusted them, and adjusted them, and adjusted them. This process took well over a half hour. Once they felt right she went back to get me a case. As i sit there examining my BRAND NEW glasses, I notice a huge dent where it looks as though she accidentally melted the plastic on the side or dug into it too deep with her pliers when adjusting. I showed her the obvious blemish and she quickly responded by ordering a new frame and me coming in at another time when they were ready. Ok, fine. I was disappointed nonetheless, but stuff happens. Next - Austin who was very helpful with ordering my sunglasses approached me saying that the color we had agreed on isn't an option. He took me aside to look at what was available, but i didn't want gradient lenses, so i asked to be refunded. This choice was based on a $360 investment i made earlier to get the lenses in the correct color. He seemed very understanding. I decided to also get a refund for the botched glasses since the deal was because of there being two products ( in my case, it was cheaper to buy a new pair of glasses and the lenses). He again understood, but made sure to tell me that i would have to pay a RESTOCKING FEE OF $45. I was completely taken back, how is it my responsibility to pay a restocking fee for a product they don't even have ( the sunglass lenses) with MY OWN FRAME (what are you restocking???). He agreed to drop the fee for the sunglass lenses, BUT NOT THE BOTCHED GLASSES. I asked again, "why do i still need to pay a restocking fee when your employee botched the frames?" I hadn't even left the store with anything, yet I'm out $45. Wow. Now i would understand paying a restocking fee if the product was undamaged, however whether i decided to get a refund or not, YOUR EMPLOYEE DAMAGED THE GLASSES. That has nothing to do with me, and now i feel taken advantaged of and disregarded for all of the troubles this place has caused me. I will never return here, nor will i allow anyone of any importance to me to have to experience this. Completely unprofessional and dishonest. read more

I have COVID. I cannot go in for my eye exam to renew my contacts. Offered to purchase contacts from them instead of 1800-contacts even though it's more expensive, but they wouldn't let me purchase contacts from there either and now I'm left with 4 days left of contacts and no eyes. (No I wouldn't go in with COVID- ever) Second time I pleaded on the phone with them, the person helping me was unfriendly when they're realized it was me calling again. read more

I have been going to this Pearl Vision for over ten years. Recently I discovered Coastal.com, which is far cheaper, and has a larger selection of frames. Getting my prescription from Pearl Vision required three phone calls. And they blatantly refused to give me my PD number. While I understand they are losing money by their customers shopping online, they have also lost a customer going to them for eye exams. They were rude and uncooperative. read more

They are the WORST!!! Everyone serving customers except the Doctors truly hates their job. Don't expect a warm greeting, expect ZERO eye contact and rudeness. You have to wave someone down to help you, to only tell you they are helping someone else... If you go, expect to bite your tongue. read more

I had been going to Pearle for years. Had issues years ago. (That I forgot about). This time I went in for 4 appointments. Still couldn't get my glasses right. Said something about dry eyes. Ok. Why can I see so well out of my old glasses? Anyway. Finally decided to just end the chapter ad return my contacts and my new glasses that were made without my astigmatism correction in them. No wonder I had issues. Anyway, I was refunded all but $60 because I had to pay a restocking fee for glasses that were defective!! This is a predatory business. I went in for an appointment and the eye doctor forcefully suggested that contact lenses were a secondary option and made it clear that I needed glasses for full time wear. I was then led to a sales person who explained they only have designer frames. After spending much more time than I wanted to looking at overpriced frames, we sat down and I was quoted over $650 for a pair of glasses with the basics. I asked for my prescription, was handed my paperwork with an exasperated eye, only to find out that the prescription was only valid with a signature from the eye doctor. I got nowhere on the phone and finally returned. Though in Minnesota contact lens prescriptions are good for 2 years, the prescription I finally received showed my prescription expiring in just one. They made me wait 15 minutes to receive one signed paper and then I had to ask them to return and get both prescriptions for me. It was an awful experience I don't wish on anyone. read more

I've been going to this Pearle location for several years now and I take my kiddo there too and we usually have a pretty good experience. I recently went in for my annual eye exam. Something I typically dread but the exam went very well and Dr. Philipp was professional, thorough and she's so incredibly nice. After the exam it was time to pick out some frames. I always seem to have the hardest time finding a pair of frames that I like so after looking for what feels like forever I usually end up settling for a pair that I'm not crazy about because I get frustrated and I just need to pick SOMETHING, but this last time I went to Pearle I worked with Alvin. And Alvin, well, he changed everything. Alvin was such a pleasure to work with and he not only helped me find some discounts that I didn't even know I qualified for to help me save a little money but he also helped me find the perfect pair of frames as well. After I left the store I later changed my mind about one of the coatings I had originally chosen so I called to see if I could have the lab make some new lenses for me and Alvin took care of everything. Now I finally have a pair of glasses that I'm really happy with. read more

Rude and no customer service. The products are less than great and over priced. They will not stand behind what they sell and or what they tell you. After spending $900.00 on 2 pair of glasses you would think that when both of your lenses are cracking at no fault of your own they would care. BUT THEY DON'T, you are required to prepay for your glasses and when they are wrong upon pick-up to bad that's what you ordered! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! read more

I went for an eye exam today. The exam went well and the doctor was amazing and really listened to my concerns. This good visit quickly went south,all be cause of Blake, the most incompetent inept employee I have ever met. He had no what he was doing and had 2 other people help him and he still couldn't get it right. He kept trying to talk to me about disposable contact lenses. I told him 3 times I don't have disposable lenses and on the third time he said "you don't?" like it was a surprise to him. I was so frustrated I told him to cancel my glasses and contacts and process my exam so I could get out of there. He told me that my eye insurance wouldn't work, even though I know I have a copay, which was confirmed when I got home and called the company I have eye coverage with. So he charged me full price and now I have to go back and get a refund. This is 2 hours of my life I won't get back and now I have to find somewhere else to get glasses and contacts. read more
