Fields Family Eye care was the closest optometrist so I went straight there for help. Not only were they THE friendliest business I've had the pleasure to have visited...they put new nose pads on, cleaned the glasses & tightened all the micro-screws too. We visited a bit and there was NO charge. I asked them what they wanted for Christmas and was on my way in just a few short moments. This staff was so wonderfully proactive, beautiful office I can only say that I've already recommended them to my son & his entire family! WOW does NOT even start to say it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

And not that any of that matters but being a kind individual does. I called at 10:20 AM and spoke to Charity and told her that I was gonna be 15 minutes late to my appointment. She said she will communicate that with the office staff for me to drive safely to the office. There is bad weather in traffic so I appreciate her kindness and making sure that I drove safe. When I arrived at 10:42, I waited in the line and then a person asked if they can check me in now and about that time is around 1045 from waiting. At that point the lady told me that I'm passed my 10 minute grace period and then I wouldn't be able to be seen. I explained to her that I was told that I can still be seen by Charity and she just reiterated the 10 minute policy. After that, she got the assistant manager, Jennifer who just regurgitated the same to 10 minute policy. If there was a communication breakdown and there's notation that I did speak to Charity I feel like for professionalism that should've been honored for me to still be seen. And that could be a training moment for the staff later. But I drove half an hour to this appointment in the rain for them to tell me that I wouldn't be able to be seen. I asked for her name and last name she wasn't comfortable giving me her last name and that's fine. I didn't like her condescending facial expressions, but nevertheless, that could just be how somebody's face is. I look for professionalism and care. And like I said, I did the due diligence with calling way ahead to let them know I was late if there was a 10 minute grace period. I wouldn't be able to be seen. I would've much appreciated being communicated that on the front end before I come out all the way over here. It's unfortunate that it's come to this. I know that she gave me Justin's card because I asked for the manager information. But none of the ladies even seemed comfortable with dealing with me for whatever reason. I probably said a few words ask for my card back ask for the managers information but from start to finish, I remain calm as I always will be because professionalism goes a long way, another training moment for them to take.

In the span of my visit, not only did they assist me, but they managed to fit a patient in who had arrived on the wrong day and moved a car for a patient who had difficulty getting out of her parking space. These people genuinely care for those who walk in their front door. I have recommended Dr. Church many times over the years, but I have already mentioned Premiere Eyecare to friends who are looking for a new eye doctor. Fantastic office.

I told them over the phone I have VSP. They went ahead and scheduled my appointment without saying a word. I went in for the exam. That went very well. I got to the checkout and it cost $90. I thought that was odd but paid it and went home to check my benefits on VSP website. Everything I looked at said I should've only paid $25. I called the office. She looked at it again and verified she charged me correctly. She was clearly looking at a different set of benefits than me. I called VSP for clarification and VSP confirmed WALMART IS OUT OF NETWORK. Really? Then why does Walmart have a huge sign out front that says they accept VSP?! So now I am out $65 which is quite a significant amount to me. I realize it's my responsibility to check who is in network for me. But I chalk this up to poor customer service. How could you let someone use services without even letting them know? Never going back.

Once I was finally called back, I was told I needed an updated glasses prescription as well--and, unsurprisingly, was informed I needed new glasses that would cost around $500 after insurance. When I explained that I wasn't interested in purchasing glasses and was only there for contacts, the staff member helping me was rude and dismissive. I also found out the doctor had recommended a different brand of contact lenses that was significantly more expensive than the brand I currently wear. After I asked to switch back, the manager said she needed the doctor to approve the change, which took another 20 minutes. To make matters worse, even though the trial lenses were the exact same brand I already wear, I was told I had to return for another fitting. Then, the trial contacts weren't delivered in time for the appointment they scheduled, and when I tried to reschedule, they couldn't fit me in the next day--only a week later. Between the long wait, the pressure to buy expensive glasses, the unnecessary delays, and the poor customer service, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this office.

One of these tests costs an extra fee, but they explained what the benefits of the test are and were clear on what the fee would be. They gave me a printed quote so I could shop around which was helpful. I'll go back next year for my exam.
