Nice and helpful. Tried to listen to my concerns and put me on the right track for care.

I am out here in VA getting to do childcare for my 10 month old grandson from birth so I wasn't relishing the thought of finding/searching for my ugly backup glasses for the remainder of my visit. Fields Family Eye care was the closest optometrist so I went straight there for help. Not only were they THE friendliest business I've had the pleasure to have visited...they put new nose pads on, cleaned the glasses & tightened all the micro-screws too. We visited a bit and there was NO charge. I asked them what they wanted for Christmas and was on my way in just a few short moments. This staff was so wonderfully proactive, beautiful office I can only say that I've already recommended them to my son & his entire family! WOW does NOT even start to say it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I was on the phone with the staff while pulling into the parking lot and asked if they could still accommodate me. I genuinely hoped for a little flexibility, especially after waiting three months for this appointment. But they refused and were told to reschedule. The next available is 1.5 months out. This was already a rescheduled appointment, since my first appointment had been cancelled when the doctor suddenly became unavailable. Very frustrating experience.

I told them over the phone I have VSP. They went ahead and scheduled my appointment without saying a word. I went in for the exam. That went very well. I got to the checkout and it cost $90. I thought that was odd but paid it and went home to check my benefits on VSP website. Everything I looked at said I should've only paid $25. I called the office. She looked at it again and verified she charged me correctly. She was clearly looking at a different set of benefits than me. I called VSP for clarification and VSP confirmed WALMART IS OUT OF NETWORK. Really? Then why does Walmart have a huge sign out front that says they accept VSP?! So now I am out $65 which is quite a significant amount to me. I realize it's my responsibility to check who is in network for me. But I chalk this up to poor customer service. How could you let someone use services without even letting them know? Never going back.

I scheduled an appointment for my daughter, my husband and myself. My husband had his appointment and wasn't too concerned at away with the service he just cared about getting the exam done. I had my exam done and notice the office was very small, let any personality or welcoming vibes and the receptionist had very little conversation to offer even during the checkup process. When I had to I exam done, even though I had Lasik, the doctor asked me what I was in there for because I don't need glasses. Newsflash, just because you don't wear glasses and have had Lasik, you still should get your eyes checked! Nonetheless my daughter's appointment was supposed to be right after mine. I explained to him that she had gone to an eye specialist previously and he then refused to see her. Initially he said that she was under 18. They knew that when I schedule the appointment. He didn't stated that I should just continue to go back to the specialist. I told him that she was cleared from The specialist and just needed to maintain regular eye exams. He then said we'll go back to her previous eye doctor. Rude is an understatement. Of all the eye doctors in Virginia, go anywhere but this place.

Once again, I was significantly overcharged for a contact lens fitting because the wrong billing codes were used. This has happened before, and the insurance company had to intervene to correct the errors. We are now back in the same situation. I even directed the staff to the proper billing information, yet I was told they had no idea what I was referring to. This lack of understanding of CPT codes and the insurance provider manual is the root cause of these repeated mistakes. Because of this, I was unable to complete my contact lens fitting and have to involve the insurance company once again to correct the billing. On top of that, I now have to take additional time off work to address an issue that should have been handled correctly the first time.

The first provider was a gentleman who told me my glands were not working and sent me home to do over the counter drops and wipes on my lashes. I see the second provider who was supposed to be the specialist in dry eyes who told me I has zero eye glands like she was telling me to pick up milk on the way home from work, like it was nothing. Offered me no treatment and sent me on my way. I have since been seeing Dr. Cremers in MD for my dry eyes who confirmed I DO have glands, actually I have now twenty something in both my uppers and lowers after starting with only 13 working in the uppers and lowers from getting multiple IPL treatments from her. She is very far from me, however, has been a life saver to me. She is caring and truly wants to help her patients feel better. I called this office back to see what they might charge for an IPL because Dr. Cremers is so far and books up fast. I was told it depends on what you are getting. I explained I am asking about IPL treatments, it is one treatment and not something that changes depending on the patient plan unless you are purchasing a package of some kind. The front desk girl could not help me with the cost of one or a package. I come to the conclusion that the entire office is incompetent, and I don't want them touching my eyes ever, so it was time to write the review. If you are told you have no glands by this office, chances are you do and the provider just did not want to be bothered. See Dr. Cremer in MD, it is a drive but worth it.
