It didn't affect my vision or hurt so I didn't even know it was there. He got me an appointment with a retina specialist, Dr. Cook, at the Retina Center in Culpeper the very next day. Dr. Cooper said it was a good find on Dr. Hoover's part because it was in a difficult place to find. He referred me to UVA for further evaluation. The girls in the office are very caring and cheerful. Picking frames is the fun part and they do an excellent job. I'm sorry but I am having trouble remembering the optician's name (embarrassing) but she is so sweet and fun to work with. Can't wait to go back and get my new glasses. Wasted an hour of my time here that I can never get back. When scheduling the appointment the gal…read morethat helped me was very pleasant. I made it very clear that I only needed a contact lens exam for my daughter as she had just previously had a glasses eye exam with a different optometrist location separate from my eye dr.. she told me it was no problem and we scheduled the appointment. We went in today for the exam and Ashely checked us in. She mentioned something about a glasses exam and told us that she crossed it out on the intake paperwork because the notes were showing our appointment was for contacts. I reiterated that yes, we just had the glasses exam done somewhere else and only needed contacts. Ashely told us it would be $99 but there may be some promotions depending on which contacts we were prescribed when finished with the exam. The Dr saw my daughter and was fine. Very thorough in his explanations of everything. The exam is finished and we go to check out and schedule our mandatory contact lens class due to my daughter being a minor and first time contact lens wearer. They give me my total and it's $199. I asked the lady about the price difference since Ashely said it was $99.. I was told that there was a glasses exam charge on there. I reminder her that we didn't need that and already told Ashley that we didn't need it and she said she remembers that and would ask her manager to take it off.. We wait for her to go talk to her manager and she comes back and says it's up to the Dr. She goes to talk to the Dr. and comes back with Ashely in tow who tells us that because we didn't have the original exam done at a my eye Dr location that we are required to have both done and have to pay again for something we just did a month ago to which I ask her why she didn't say that upfront.... Had that been the case, we wouldn't have wasted our time there. Ashely basically tried to blame it on us not hearing her? Then blame it on us not understanding her. Then said that she asked us why we didn't go back to the other place (as a hint to extra charges ???) to which I repeated what I told her when she said that the first time and reminded her that she should have been very clear that we would be required to have both done thus paying for both. To sum it all up, I feel it was completely outrageous on Ashely's behalf to not be direct and tell us from the beginning that we'd be doing both especially when she went over the fact that our insurance had already been used and that we'd be self pay. Then add the fact that the Dr. wouldn't even consider doing just the contact portion of the exam was really frustrating. I've been going to the Manassas eye Dr location for years and have never encountered the slightest bit of inconvenience as I did here today. Would NEVER go back.

I called to ask for a receipt to confirm a service on my FSA. I was asked to provide documentation for a transaction a few months ago. I told her that I would need the receipt for a specific transaction. She replied that they would mail it out to me and she would also call me. This never happened. No letter, no phone call. The lady was probably busy playing on her phone when I called in. Unfortunately, all the good vibes I got from my first visit are now gone. Pleasant experience! I called in to inquire about my vision insurance benefits and a store associate called back and communicated the details of my plan. The eye exam was swift and Dr. Johnson confirmed my old prescription. Very approachable and great to talk to. I was very surprised to hear that I needed cataract surgery and even more hesitant when I heard how…read moreit would be done. (I really thought I was seeing very well for my age - almost 79). After having my worst eye done first (left) and on the very same day of surgery, I tried comparing my eye sight. I was looking at a large black & white picture with my right eye and it was perfectly clear to me with my prescription glasses on. Then I took my glasses off, closed my right eye and looked at it with the left eye. It was an "OMG" moment for sure. The picture was a bright white and sharp, clear black. I looked again with the right eye and realized I was seeing a cream color, not white, and a dark gray... not black. I have had both eyes done now with very positive results (as they expected) and the difference is amazing. I must say that dealing with Dr. Jani and his staff was a very good experience before, during and after the procedure (which took only a few minutes). It was also very educational and everyone, including Dr. Jani, treated my questions and concerns with respect and understanding, while taking the time to answer fully, until I was comfortable with the answers. Dr Jani even explained (when I went for my followup) the weird sounding music I had heard and commented about while he was doing the very painless procedure... it was the various tones the machine was making while he was working on me! Sounded like chamber music to me. We had a good laugh about that. I would and will recommend Dr. Jani to anyone in need of his expertise. He is an excellent doctor and I have absolutely no complaints to pass on to anyone. In fact, I'll kind of miss going to see him and his staff.
