It took them three full remakes to get my last glasses working. This time they screwed up twice in a row, and then the incredibly rude assistant manager acted like she was doing ME a favor attempting to correct their incompetence and mistakes. Each mistake means another round trip to this mall wasting my valuable time. And when I finally gave up, they had ZERO interest in why I was cancelling my transaction, no attempt to win me back or make me happy. I was clearly just the problem for not being willing to accept shoddy mediocre work at luxury brand pricing. Not only did they keep messing up the lenses, but even their sales associate couldn't be bothered to adjust the frames to fit my face properly, and kept telling me they fit fine when they absolutely didn't. Don't trust them to put the correct prescription in your glasses. I had 2 issues. I bought Ray Ban sunglasses. They put progressiv lens in. I don't wear progressive. I came back because I couldn't see out of them and they made me dizzy. My everyday frames I asked them to update my new prescription in those frames . They put my old prescription from TWO YEARS AGO!! It was the SAME prescription already in those frames!!!! Then charged me. read more

Last week I had made an appointment for today 6/2/25. I got a message saying that they don't take vsp vision insurance as it's out of network. Then a store clerk says she recommend I pick a different frame (waiting three weeks by this time) when I ask to speak to manager, manager says oh Maplegrove has them. I have been going to the Southdale LensCrafters location for years, both for eye exams as well as for my glasses. Dr. Gilmore, O.D., does my annual eye exam, and is professional, friendly and polite. Their equipment is state-of-the-art and up-to-date. I'm amazed at what they can do these days in comparison with the eye charts we used to use. The same can be said for LensCrafters' Digital Measurement System called AccuFit. It's pretty slick how they can fit your lenses by measuring your eyes. Most of the employees are knowledgeable and friendly and willing to help you out. As a marketing director, I totally know the importance of branding. Companies aren't the only ones who can brand. You can brand yourself. How I do that is I use Ray Bans not only for my sunglasses, but also for my indoor eyewear. Yes, LensCrafters and other eye care professionals can do that for you. It opens up another realm of glasses for you. You're not just limited to the styles as you see them. Okay, so why not five stars? I have to ding LensCrafters one star for their inconsistent customer service. Last year, I needed my new frames in time for my 30th high school reunion, and did they deliver. (Not to my physical address, but in the service department) This year, I waited for over 10 days to pick up my new frames. I finally stopped in and they said they had broken the pair or something happened, so they had to reorder. Fortunately I have three other pairs of glasses, so I wasn't desperate for these. However, a call would have been nice to let me know what was going on. As for my prescription sunglasses, they came back with regular lenses. Again, I have two other pair of sunglasses, so I was fine. They had to send this pair back, too. As long as I can continue to get some cool and unique Ray Ban frames from LensCrafters, I'll keep coming back. The location and hours work with my schedule. My other tip is to wait for the 50% off lenses with frames sale they run once or twice a year. You'll save a little bit of money. read more

Awful...that is the only thing I can say. I walked into Lenscrafters to get a pair of glasses. I had not worn glasses in years (because of corrective surgery) and now had to get a pair. I provided the prescription and was told to pick out glasses. They did not provide any insight into the type of glasses I should consider given face and eye features. I was not necessarily asked what I might want to consider given the prescription the doctor had given me. I did think I wanted the glasses that went from indoor to outdoors and turned into sun glasses. When all was said and done, they charged me over $500 for the glasses. I was stunned and asked if my insurance paid for anything. I asked what was the cost impacts, they didn't really share. I reluctantly paid and left very frustrated. Upon returning home I compared the receipt to what the insurance would cover and had dozens of questions. I spent time with the insurance company and decided to challenge the costs when I picked up the glasses. Now the glasses...I put them on and couldn't even walk without feeling sick (I tried them for a week inside and outside.) The lens, when in the sun, were not dark enough for my light eyes and I just could not wear them.) I then challenged them on the costs and they preceded to explain that the receipt they provided me did not lay out the costs in the right way???? They handed me a completely different cost layout from their system. Since Lenscrafters has a 100% guarantee and a return policy within 30 days of pick up. After the 1 week I tried them I returned them for a full refund. Told them I felt like I was not given insights as to why the prescription would make me sick and the cost was out of line. I went to two of their competitors and after step by step discussions I understood what could have been making me sick. It was they had given me progressives (top part was for distance, middle part was for computer view and bifocal for reading). No one at Lenscrafters indicated that it can be a problem for people. It seemed like they were looking to create glasses that took the most money from me, not the best result for me and my vision needs. Very very frustrating! read more

Before I made an appointment, I called and asked how much they charge for an exam and kids glasses. They told me about a $100 for each, $200 total. But when the time came to pay, the bill was over $450! I told them how their receptionist told me just an hour ago that kids glasses would be a $100 but they said that's just for the frames - the lenses are $250 more.Then they just repeated, robotically, that it's $100 for frames and $250 for lenses, as if the problem was not that they lied to get me through the door but that I don't understand. I am near crying right now... I did not want to spend a lot of money and did everything I could to know the cost ahead of time, and they just lied to my face! Oh, and they tried to get me to pay another $25 for a protection plan which is also a scam (just google it). So basically, scamming people is how LensCrafters does their business. *** UPDATE 2/18/2018 *** I just received an unsolicited phone call from the same office. The woman stated that during my visit last year, their "computer has generated a time slot" for me, and would I like to turn that "time slot" into an appointment? Went here for my annual eye exam and lens fitting. Was greeted by a friendly staff member. Jonathan (the assistant) was affable and knowledgeable. Made me feel very comfortable! He did all the prelim stuff then got me right into Dr. Tamara Legg. Great experience with the doc. Exam was thorough but efficient. Exam room spotlessly clean. Dr Legg knows her stuff. The always super friendly James rounded out the experience by filling my contact prescription and processing the paperwork. Temporary lenses...And on my way! Great job by all. In and out in about an hour. Awesome selection of glasses and frames although I didn't need to purchase any. Bam! Done. read more

I needed to get some sunglasses for riding my bike but my prescription does not allow me to get the popular brands like Oakley or Rayban. I went to Lenscrafters in Southdale and asked if there were any options. They came up with a pair of safety glasses that had all the features I needed, i.e., light weight, snug to my face including the sides and attractive. They were able to put sunglass lenses in these safety glasses. I love them. They look and fit great and can ride my bike feeling that my eyes are protected. read more

I bought some glasses, but it turned out the lenses had to be custom ordered. They told me this after I left for an hour. But they were cool about it and gave me a regular pair while I waited a few days for the other lenses to come in. They also re-did the prescription a different LensCrafters had messed up on some sunglasses I had. I'd have given them a 5, but I'm not 100% sure my new lenses fit on my frames right. That said, I'm sure they'll be cool about fixing it if it becomes a problem. Much better experience than most other glasses shops I've been to. read more

I've been a LensCrafter customer for 20 years and you want my honest opinion...go somewhere else!!. Their glasses are expensive which I wouldnt mind if they gave great service but they don't. My last pair of glasses which I paid well over 500 dollars for lasted me 2 years then the screw fastener mechanism broke and now they want $200+ to fix them. Then as a quick fix they glued it back together w super glue and smeared the glue all over the lens...then handed back dirty pair of glue smeared glasses and thought that was acceptable. These people are worst than plumbers. It doesn't surprise me that theres an independant website with a ton of complaints about this company read more

"In about an Hour" is their slogan. It has been over three weeks and my glasses are STILL not in. The communication is terrible - no one has called me with any sort of status up date. I called an each date they said they would be available by (4 seperate dates) and each time they were not ready....clearly they had no intention of letting me know. Try another store. On the whole, they're ok, but their promise to fix it if it's not right is a sham. I got trifocals that were too low on the lens. The first time I took them back they tried to fix it by pinching the nose piece together so they sat ridiculously high on my nose. The second time, they put them in a drawer for a few days and gave them back to me. Not good. I have to hold them up off my nose to read. Not happy. read more

Store used to be good. There is one long time employee named Jim I believe who is very helpful and genuine and takes all the time you need. All the newer employees have a horrible bedside manner and are pushy and unreasonable. My fitting was done by a young immature kid with a long greasy beard. Each time I commented how my glasses weren't right he would take a loud deep breath and shake his head. It was very uncomfterable and the glasses continue to give me trouble. read more

I have been to numerous lenscrafters locations: Maple grove, Eden prairie, and Burnsville. All of these locations have been so great, hopefully there is a way to see which associates helped me because i always left there thinking to myself "they must have a really good customer service training team" However, my last lenscrafters visit was in Edina and the guy that helped me was not the brightest bulb. he gave me a contact prescription that was -0.75 instead of my prescription of -7.50. those who are pretty much blind like myself knows- this is a huge disaster. i was on my last pair of contacts and threw my old ones away, put in the ones he gave me and started to panic ( i was at work). deep down before i left i had a gut feeling i should have checked the box because he kept getting other information confused and he just didn't seem to know what he was doing. Funny thing is right after i left the store and was headed to work i was telling my friend how i always get such great service here and have been meaning to write to the company, and then half an hour later, i experienced this mishap. i will still go to lenscrafters, just maybe not that location. read more

One of the most pleasant experiences imaginable with the exam itself. Doctors were very friendly and helpful and made sure I understood what they were doing and why. Getting the glasses not nearly so pleasant. I've been given four separate dates when they were supposed to arrive, and I'm still waiting. And when the glasses arrived with the wrong lenses... how is that even possible? ... and they had to re-order, they didn't even bother to call and tell me. I was running a bit late for my appointment so I called from the car to be polite. A terse staff member told me that if I was more than 15 minutes late they'd have to reschedule because they are so busy. Okay, I thought, fair enough. But when I walked in, THREE employees were standing there, waiting for me, looking down at their watches like they were timing some kind of a race. You got it, three employees just standing around counting the minutes because, you know, they are so busy. One of the employees begrudgingly took me back for my appointment. The doctor couldn't have used less of his training if he'd tried. If I had walked up to a total stranger sipping coffee and reading the paper at Starbuck's and said, "Hey, Sir, can I ask you some questions about my vision?" that guy would have been more helpful. Especially if I'd of let him do a little googling first. It was a total waste of money and I walked away knowing nothing more about my vision or my options. My distance vision is accurate enough to hunt bison though. But don't let me drive anywhere because I can't see google maps on my cellphone. Thanks Lenscrafters.
