I have been coming here for years, over 10 in fact. I have an eye condition I call R.F.E. , it stands for Really Effed-up Eyes. Sure there's a more technical name for it, but I won't bore you with the details. So, R.F.E. means they have to contour map the surface of my eyes every few years and I have to see a doctor who looks at the picture and makes thoughtful noises. At one point they told me that it could be degenerative and I might have to have a corneal transplant. The corneas would come from either a pig or a dead person, both sounded AWESOME. So imagine my disappointment when they told me a few years ago that my eyes had stabilized. My hope of being featured on some sort of horror movie where I see dead people or start squealing like a pig were dashed (yes I know those stories have been done). Truth be told, I was leaning towards the pig eyes. I imagined how having an inhuman glare might work to my advantage! Anyways, I get to keep my messed up corneas and this place has been keeping me in glasses and seeing pretty well. This year they put me in some medical contacts that corrected my vision to almost 20/20. For me, this is like walking around seeing the world in HD after watching it on an old 1970s console TV like the one your Grandparents had. It's great! The staff and Doctors have been great to work with. Even though they use a bunch of fancy words, they are willing to dumb things down so this dim wit can understand! Quite nice of them! So, if you ever get R.F.E. or just need a great eye Doctor, check this place out. read more

I'd give a zero if I could. She was physically aggressive with my daughter and traumatized her. its interesting to read that other children have had similar experiences with her aggressiveness. She was physically holding my daughter down for eye drops and I had to demand she andk her to stop. I accidentally saw her today for an eye emergency situation. I was in extreme pain. she didn't care & told me to "open my eye for insurance purposes." She is inappropriate, inadequate. and provides dangerous care. All while repeating that she's been a doctor for "35 years." I left with no instructions, she provided me nothing and my eye has gotten worse, I've been a nurse nearly 20 and have never encountered a physician that talks about herself more. She lioves to talk about her "accomplishments," l but treats patients, most importantly, children terribly. Bottom line is don't see her. read more

Do NOT go here. You'll experience super long wait times on the phone. No one responds to your online contact form. And since I am self-pay I shop around. The YAG laser surgery costs 33% more here than at Minnesota eye consultants. Plus twin City I forces you to set up a clinic meeting whereas Minnesota I would take the results of my Walmart optometrist. I'd been going there for a while, so when my husband developed a skin condition close to his eyes, I made an appointment for him to see Dr. R. He was supposed to be that kind of specialist. We were billed $284 for his introductory appointment. When my husband returned for the actual procedure, which took less than 5 minutes, we were billed $328. Both amounts were before insurance. We also received a bill for over $500 ($240 after insurance) for the biopsy he sent in. I was advised when I made the appointment that he usually does an office visit first and then schedules the procedure. But, really, he couldn't have removed the simple skin tags on the first visit? He also failed to remove a third one that was close by. And he couldn't have found a less expensive lab? What a rip off!! Actually, in my first visit there, I'd seen Dr. N for my annual eye exam. He was in such a hurry. At the end, he apparently forgot to view my eyes through a special lens, so he's standing up 3 feet away from me pretending to view my eyes?! I complained to the receptionist/scheduler on my way out, because I didn't want him to see him the next time. She told me that he actually has races in surgery, competing with other doctors, to get the fastest times for completing the procedures!! Races, with a person's vision at risk?! I did choose another doctor, but on my last visit he suggested I had symptoms of cataracts. If he'd read my file, he'd have seen that I already had cataract surgery on both eyes. Wow, such personalized service. After this latest incident, we're taking our business elsewhere. People need to wake up. Just because the business is in Edina, doesn't make it the best - - just the most expensive!! read more

I took my brothers here to get an eye exam. The eye Doctor who does the exam, she's like 80 years old and is a mean bitter lady. She has no patience and grabbed my 6 year old brothers head and propped it up herself (she made him cry) and I just took my 17 year old brother there and she legit opened his eye for him without any warning or hesitation. I had been going to the Edina office for several years when my eyes became red, swollen and puffy. I worked in healthcare and thought it was pink eye. I didn't want to give it to my patients. Initially I went to urgent care and they told me I don't have pink eye and I should see my eye doctor which I did. This clinic also told me I don't have pink eye but they couldn't tell me what I had. My eyes continued to be red and puffy. I checked Dr. Google and saw a picture of someone whose eyes looked like mine. It was an allergic reaction. I had started using a new face cream. I stopped using it and the problem went away. Why couldn't my long term eye doctor tell me I was having an allergic reaction? read more

Have had an ongoing problem in one eye for over 2 years. Keep going back every so often for re-checks. On my last re-check I had a problem in my other eye and also needed to schedule a complete eye exam. Was told to make that appointment for 1-2 months out (this was early July 2021) - when I made appointment the soonest I could get in (at one of two preferred locations) was on October 2nd (a month later than the Dr. requested). Today (August 25, 2021) I received a call that the Dr. changed his schedule and now the earliest I can get in is November 23rd. I took the appointment but am definitely going to switch to another Dr. as soon as I can. I realize with Covid they got behind but I made this appointment for early October back in July and now because of a Dr. switching his schedule I have to wait practically another 2 months - hopefully my eye doesn't get worse. read more

My seven year old daughter had a routine eye exam with Dr Chous. During the eye exam, attempted to put dilating drops in my daughters eyes. I noticed Dr Chous had a very firm grip & aggressive hold on my daughters jaw & lower face. My daughter was terrified and crying has her head was being forced upward. Instinctively I walked over to the patient's chair & I attempted to pry Dr Chous's hand down & away from my clearly distressed daughters face. Despite my intervention, Dr Chous continued to forcefully lift my daughters head upward & continued to attempt to administer the drops in an aggressive, forceful manner. In shock that Dr Chous did not let up I released my hand hoping that she would stop. Dr Chous continued to force my daughters head up for a few more seconds before I attempted to pull her hand away a second time. Drops were then spilled over face & eyes and in her mouth and. She was crying & distressed. I then ended the exam. I took my daughters hand we walked out & left immediately. Side note my daughter has a congenital heart defect. She's been in the cardiac ICU for 6 weeks at a time, intubated & sedated, in out of the hospital for echocardiogram's & EKG's. Never once has my daughter cried in fear like this with a doctor that's performing a service on her. Eye drops sure as hell would not faze her considering everything she's been through!! Also come to find out our new eye doc mentioned he has had several patients that saw her, but no longer because again, the terrible experience they had with her. It was a very traumatic event for my daughter & for myself to go through. As a parent it is my job to protect my child. I would highly recommend thinking twice before letting your child or yourself see Dr Chous for any eye visit. read more

We recently moved to the area, and a friend recommended Edina Eye for the annual school required vision check. We made the appointment, and had Dr. Saiyid Hasan, whom was excellent. We went on our way, and didn't think much of it. A few weeks later, we received the bill for two vision checks...$730! We immediately called and they informed us for the first time that they don't take insurance because they are considered a specialist. At no time when making the appointment, checking in for the appointment, or checking out was this mentioned to us. This practice is extremely shady, and unfortunately we are on the hook for the full amount. I would urge caution for anybody who is considering Edina Eye Physicians and Surgeons of this practice. Very unfortunate that we found out this way, especially for a very simple vision check. Please beware and don't make the same mistake we did, and spread the word to everyone else. We have already relayed the information to our friend, and they have since taken their business elsewhere. read more

More than disappointing experiences bringing my 87 yr old mother to the Edina and Burnsville locations on multiple occasions over the last 4 years. They diagnosed her with a 1) major case of macular degeneration, 2) controlled glaucoma and 3) dry eye. Their emphasis was ALWAYS on the macular degeneration, always, and nothing else. We were told her there was no possible way to improve her vision even slightly with any type of corrective lenses and pretty much blew her off (87 yrs old...get the picture?). Both doctors, O'Neill and Gullingsrud were EXTREMELY FLIPPANT and quite abrupt and unprofessional with their answers to her questions. Example: Q: Should she continue with the ointment? A: "Well if you want--go ahead. If you don't want--then don't". What kind of answer is that from a supposed professional??? She has since seen a retinal specialist who has informed her she has a significant case of dry eye, very well controlled glaucoma and "very, very little macular degeneration". I believe this was a case with Edina Eye doctors simply "blowing her off" because of her age. If a 35 year old woman had her same symptoms, I highly doubt the doctors would have behaved in the same manner. I have spread the word to friends and family, who have also confirmed their poor experiences with this firm. I'll also mention their front desk staff are less than pleasant to their customers. I recommend you find a different source to your vision needs. This is a VERY unprofessional physician's group. read more

These are the best doctors you could even meet. I have bad to be seen on an urgent/emergent basis due to loss of sight in one eye. They got me in that same day, complete exam to determine & confirm diagnosis, and then the doctor explained everything to me. Dr. Schaefer is the best - even took time out of his busy schedule to call in follow up, and he & his staff were able to get me scheduled to see a neurologist the same week! (I hadn't been able to get an appointment for a few weeks). Thanks to the staff and doctors - your level of service is unparalleled. read more

Awful customer service. I call in to get my prescription again and they make me get a new exam, and then scribble the prescription on a card. When I call in again to ask what the new prescription said, they tell me that they don't keep records of it and I would need to come in to see my "chart". Why wouldn't you be able to tell a customer their records over the phone? Also, very rude front desk staff upon arrival for my appointment, very rude about helping with insurance. I had the worst experience today at the Edina Eye eyeglass dispensary... Last week, i chose a light weight metal nice reading glasses. the man in the bright orange shirt kept moving the glasses around and said why don't you pick the plastic ones. My Medica insurance pays for glasses every 2 years.. he noted that i got one pair in 2009. I was treated differently then... I am a college educated woman and have had a career in health sciences doing Hematology, Chemistry etc. I am also a retired college professor... the woman in the 6 inch high heels spent a lot of time with a man and i waited and saw another lady taking her time helping two women.. when the 6 ft woman in 6 inch heels came over to me and made me sign papers in three places before showing me my glasses and did not have the time of day. She did not adjust my glasses. and would not look at my glasses that i purchased there in 09 for driving... After signing the papers, she brought out some rectangular glasses that i would never pick. the design was not for me. she shoved them in a plastic case and pushed them over to me and dismissed me directly... i could not believe... she treated me like i did not have any memory... i said where is the tray i chose from and she brought it to me and one space was missing... she conferred with a man in back and the pulled a fast one on me... She did not treat me with respect like i came in there for them... People can be out of a job, retired and have no cash and need help... She immediately sized me up and dismissed me. I immediately went to Allina Health clinic next door and told the appt person there how i was treated. we were both shocked about how i was treated... the bottom line has proceeded to interfere with lack of respect for Seniors and other.s... They evidently did not want to make the glasses that i chose and figured that i would not remember. I know eliptical shapes from rectangles... I am an artist and have taught many silk painting workshops and have taught ARt History.. Now i wonder where she got her training... I do not have street smarts and trust people and expect people to treat me with respect... they were so rude and dismissing me and running off leaving me there sitting... Had iLASIK here and would NOT recommend it. Found out after wards I was not a good candidate due to blepharitis/dry eye conditions before surgery that led to permanent dry eyes and blurry vision post surgery. There was no excuse for any of the doctors at Edina Eye to not recognize this and put profits before the health of a patient. Wish I would have seen a good surgeon before doing iLASIK that would have told me the truth and warned me about the real risks of LASIK. It is not a simple procedure and should not be treated as one. Do not ruin your healthy eyes by cutting them! And do not trust even the experienced surgeons, I will suffer the rest of my life because I trusted them and their staff. Anyone that doesn't believe this review...don't sign the informed consent and see how far that will get you. The surgeons know that the real LASIK complication rates are much high than what they tell you and they would go broke with lawsuits if they didn't have that informed consent waving all your rights. read more

I scheduled an full eye exam for my teenage son in August 2014. The exam was performed in less than fifteen minutes and was then I was billed $335.00. When I contacted the business office on two separate occasions to get a better understanding of the charges and exam results I was told twice that my son was given a full one hour exam. This is a blatant and utter misrepresentation of the truth. Schedule your appointment at your own risk. I am not covered by vision insurance and I pay 100% of the cost. Now you get an idea why your vision insurance premiums are so high. This clinic just bills for under performed exams and just thinks it can pass it along to your insurance carriers. I called them on it and just got the run around. I would look else where for your eye care. I will not be returning under any circumstance. read more

Hello, I have never written a review before. I don't think I have had an experience so great or horrible to warrant a review. How ever, the service and attitude I experienced at Edina Eye Physicians and Surgeons located on France in Edina was so horrendous and rude and insulting that I just had to say something. My son who is five years old was referred to this place by our family doctor. The doctor my son saw was nice and helpful, but a little cold. It turned out my son needed glasses and this is where the story gets ugly. The opticians were rude to say the least. They argued with me about what type of lenses I wanted for my child and then after we ordered them, they were not in after almost two weeks. I phoned the store and asked about my sons glasses, apparently they were never ordered. Then when I complained they argued with my about when they said they were to be finished. I didn't care what they said in the beginning, THEY WERE NEVER ORDERED! After we finally got the glasses they didn't even apologize for the rude behavior I experienced. The manager was no help either and was basically the same. Now, six months later my sons glasses broke. I assumed they had some sort of warranty on the glasses and asked them to reorder the frames. They wouldn't reorder them unless I drove all the way there so they could look at them. Once there i received the same treatment as before. Two weeks went by and still no glasses. Finally they told me the lenses were ordered wrong and they had to be reordered again. Still no apology! Now, I have worked as an optician myself for almost 16 years off and on. I know the business. I don't understand this attitude. I don't see why they treat me as if they are doing me a favor. What happened to customer service. I am opening my own optical shop and I can tell you I will always treat my customers with respect and never argue with them. I still believe the customer is always right. I understand that when someone purchases somethng from you it is an honor to have the patronage. I hope I will never have to deal with this place again. If I didn't need a pediatric ophthalmologist I wouldn't have even bothered after the first visit! read more

I was charged repeatedly for my one visit to Edina Eye. I paid my copay in cash the day that I was seen, and stupidly, I didn't save anything showing that I had paid. Weeks later, I was sent a bill. I called to fix it and they refused to believe that I paid in cash, so I paid it again, just to get it over with. This time with a card over the phone. I didn't think anything of it after not hearing anything again, until I found out that my credit report showed that I had something in collections through them. Turns out, they were still showing that I hadn't paid, AGAIN! I gave the collection agency my card number and paid for the third time, easier than having it stay on my credit report out of anger. This time, I saved everything, and made them send me an e-mail confirming that it had been paid. I don't know if this is normal for them, but I will never go back, nor will I let anyone I know go to them. read more
