Worst customer service ever. I arrived at the door which had a sign that said "Please wait until someone assists you". I stand there while all the employees are chatting away at the front desk. I had to wave someone down in order to be assisted. Never coming back here ever again. The service used to be great. Nobody smiled or greeted me. I used to be a longtime LC customer at other stores but this experience has really disappointed me. In addition, there was nobody else in the store that was being helped. The employees seemed to be chatting amongst each other, including the optometrist. Very disappointing. Won't be back. read more

Lord, Jesus, Mother Mary, take Dr. Michael Chin for retirement, this man is ready. If you want someone that looks and acts like he hates his job, get Dr. Michael Chin. He functions like he's ready to retire. He assumes I'm suppose to know exactly what was diagnosed at my previous appointment, a year ago. I'm not familiar with terminology in optometry--thought that was the doctor's job to explain. And, he would second guess my answers, as if they were his eyes. It was a weird and bad experience. However, Ashley was great!! Bless her heart and the other employees who have to work with that doctor. I also witnessed how he speaks to them. I couldn't believe how he speaks to the employees in front of customers, myself and other were in front of them at the register. I have never had so many issues ordered glasses before until I came to this store. There were many issues with the order, including store clerk scratching up my frames, the logo on the sidearm was upside down, the antireflective coating was put on poorly with blotches, and multiple delays in lens fabrication due to their machine not working. I have made over 10 trips to this store alone and every time I go in, the clerk assisting never knows the history of my order, so I have to explain the full situation from the beginning. I would highly avoid this store as this has been the worst glasses experience in my life. read more

Came here to get my glasses after a hiccup with the lens machine at the San Bruno location. I arrived and spoke with a clerk who got me squared away quickly but said it'd be about 2.5 hours. I wasn't happy but I needed glasses so I shopped in the nearby stores. Amazingly I got a call 45 minutes later stating my glasses were ready. I was happy for the stroke of luck. I checked in at the desk and this manager type who is dressed fancier than the clerks but with no name tag gives me attitude. I said I am here to pick up my glasses, I got the call that they are ready. The manager type says, Are you the one from the San Bruno office? I said Yes. Then she snarkily tells me, They called and said you were coming but they didn't explain why and we don't have any idea what is going on. I replied rather pointedly, I said : Your team has handled my order and my glasses are ready.... do I need to get you up to speed or can I just pick up my glasses? The clerk who was helping me earlier pops out of the lab in the back with my glasses in hand and said I have your glasses. I walked away from the witchy manager type and had a great experience with the clerk. I was tempted to knock this down to three stars because the manager type had no manners or people skills .... but that would do a disservice to the rest of the team, so four it is. read more

Everyone here needs an attitude adjustment and serious retraining. The staff never has an answer for anything, except no. Incompetence from the dim-witted front desk to the cranky doctors runs rampant. For years I've been using my eye insurance here. Only recently did someone slip up to let me know that my eye insurance is out of network! You mean all this time I haven't received my full benefit and no one told me?! As for the doctors, they change as often as I change my underwear. Some were good, but of course they left ASAP. The last one just wanted to argue with me. He clearly hated his job, that place and was exasperated with every patient interaction. Every time I call for something, like a simple prescription, there's a new doctor and the front desk staff wants me to come in again for an exam. In 6 months, there's been 3 doctors and with every one, they want me to come in. Why can't they honor what the last guy wrote in my chart? Every call is full of drama. Of course they said they'd call back after the doctor was done with his patient, tick tock... still waiting 2 days later... I've spent so much money here over the years but no more. I'd rather pay a new doctor to exam me than ever go back here. read more

Everyone was nice and the doctor was able to see me at my scheduled appointment time with a small wait. Pretty standard and quick eye exam. It does bother me that end the end of my exam they had me sign a paper saying I acknowledge that we would be skipping the refraction. Before that there was no mention of what a refraction was and whether or not I needed it. I asked why they recommended me skipping it and just replied we can do it if you want without informing me of what a refraction is. Extremely poor service. I walked in, gave all of my information and scheduled an appointment one week later. I gave them my insurance and was told that I will have to pay $20 out of pocket which was fine. I show up the time and day that I was told, and they say I don't have any appointment scheduled. I then make a new one which took another week. I give my information yet again, and suddenly I have to pay $70 out of pocket for an eye exam. read more

The worse customer service ever, I ordered my prescription glasses two weeks ago so I called today to find out about my glasses so I waited 35 minutes on the phone and I was disconnected so I called back and someone finally answered the phone call I spoke with Nicole and she told me that order was canceled she couldn't tell why me so she transfer me another person and that person couldn't give a answer either so I called the credit card company and was told the charge was already made on my credit card, so i went to the store in Colma so I could get a refund for my order, so they refund me the money but they still couldn't give me an answer on why my order was cancel, my main concern was if I hadn't called to find out about the status on my glasses the would have kept my money and no one was goin to call, I have a big family I will sure that no one will do business with any LensCrafters .. the really suck. read more

I haven't been to this establishment in person. But I did speak to Sheri on the phone today. I purchased both a new pair of glasses and sunglasses at the Stonestown branch after seeing the doctor at Tanforan as they seem to have a better selection of frames. After changing the prescription once and then the lenses three times because they weren't correct, I had to go back to Tanforan to have the prisms corrected YET AGAIN and only got my final corrected lenses back in late January though I started the process in OCTOBER 2018.. In any case, I didn't receive the stock or original lenses back with my sunglasses (no case or lens cloth either!) and wondered why as I'd always received them back from Site for Sore Eyes. After I called and they'd checked with the lab to see if they still had them (which they didn't) Stonestown told me that they were unable to give them to me for 'insurance purposes'. But Tanforan told me I should simply have requested them when the first pair were made as they always give them back. So I called the Colma branch to see what the deal was. Sheri (who is the Manager there and used to be the asst. manager at Stonestown) explained that they received a letter last year explicitly stating that they were not to return the original lenses back to customers as too many were committing insurance fraud. Now while I appreciated the assistance and that she told me that I could go online to the manufacturer's website and purchase demo lenses which are the same as the original lenses, it's still very frustrating that I was not told this upfront when I first purchased the sunglasses. Because I'm one of the few customers who does not actually require prescription sunglasses to drive as these are just a computer prescription to provide greater clarity and help with my exotropia. And next year when I'm again forced to purchase a new frame to get the bi-annual discount (which is the same as the insurance discount every two years), I will also have to buy new lenses for my sunglasses as I don't have the original lenses to put back into them. So while I had a great conversation with Sheri, she's super knowledgeable and great on the phone, and I'd say that most of the people seem to want to be helpful, I'm still very disappointed with the overall customer service I've experienced with Lenscrafter's. read more

I'm usually not the one to complain. This is actually my first yelp review because this needs to addressed. I've been waiting two weeks for my glasses as told. My glasses were totally blurry once I put them on and it so happens that they put the wrong prescription on the right lens. They said well it may have been mixed up with an old prescription, but I was never that prescription in the past. I was suppose to have -6 and it was a -6.75. Secondly, the worker Paula, continued and said it may have been the Doctor's error. I didn't like the blame game she put on. I know the Dr. has charted my prescription correctly because she gave me a hard copy of my prescription after my appt and handed it to me. Whatever it may be, a simple apology would have been nice from her or the staff who took my order for my glasses. It was clearly an error during ordering of the new glasses. Instead I was just sent home empty handed with no apology. What's the most frustrating is that I have to wait another two weeks, that's a whole month without the glasses and I have very poor vision. I asked Paula well can I please have a rush delivery or some kind of compensation and it was a no bueno. I really wished they doubled checked their orders before sending it out and made sure it was accurate before they called me to pick it up. I would of accepted anything from this huge inconvenience. I really hope something can be done or a conversation with the branch can happen ASAP, because this situation was handled very poorly. read more

This location is terrible. I've gone to other locations of LensCrafters and the service is always up and down, but the location in Colma takes the cake for being both scam artists and unprofessional. They tried to convince me that I had an eye problem due to wearing contacts for x amount of years and that the only contacts I could wear were $800 a year. They also did not keep track of the multiple doctors who saw me, AND they lied to me and said that Air Optix are no longer in business so they could up-sell me ridiculous contact lenses that NO ONE needs. Ugh, this location needs to close down because their doctors and workers are shit. DO NOT GO HERE! **I did go to another optician for a second opinion, and he concluded that I did not a.) have any eye problems due to contact wear and b.) Air Optix is still alive and well in the business world. read more

I really needed to have an eye exam done as it had been quite a few years since my last and I needed a new pair of glasses. I was able to get a same day appointment very easily and the whole process was easy. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the doctor was informative and made the whole process quick. My only complaint is that they were having a lot of technical issues with their computer servers so that slowed down the checkout process quite a bit. read more

I hate touching my eyeballs. I've never actually done it, at least not intentionally. And I hate it when you touch your eyeball to show me that it's really no big deal. Please stop doing that. So when I decided in July it was time to get with the contacts thing like a big girl, I have no idea why I chose this place. Maybe since it's close to Target and I always like an excuse to go there. Anyway, it was terrible. The girl who did the first part of the exam was great, very nice and patient. The doctor, however, sucked. He was cranky. Very cranky. I had explained my eyeball fear to him, and asked him to go slowly. After about 30 seconds of him trying to get the contact into my eyeball with no luck, he sighed loudly and said, "Look, do you really want contacts or not?" So mean! I slid down in my chair and mumbled something, I don't know what. Anyway, they had to order the correct presciption for me, and would call me in about a week so we could do the lens training and all that. Except they never did. I forgot about it, perhaps intentionally, since I was planning our wedding and was plenty busy. Then comes the first week of December, about 5 months after my visit, and I get a call saying my contacts are ready for pick-up. Thanks, but no thanks, Dr. Meany. The rest of the staff are very nice and helpful, though. read more

*Review Based on a Single Visit* I pruchased a pair of Oakleys. I was called saying that my glasses were ready to be picked up (2hrs before closing time). I decided to come into the store the following afternoon after work to pick up my NEW glasses. I got to the store and the Licenced optician opened the case and the glasses were cracked in 4 different parts of the frame. Wth?!?! My excitement for my new glasses immediately turned into great dissapontment. Now I need to wait another week because they need to special order the frame since it was the last one at the store. read more

LensCrafters was a nice surprise to say the least. I am use to going to Site for Sore Eyes in Serramonte just because my mom always went there. I was recommended LensCrafters by a friend and was not disappointed. They are located in the Colma shopping Center right across from Home Depot and right next to Old Navy. Their store is very spacious and they have a wide selection of frames. I was greeted right as I walked in and ended up getting helped by Aldrin. He was incredibly friendly and was helpful with figuring out what the best options were with the insurance I had. He was able to book me an eye exam upon my arrival and I searched for a pair of frames while I waited. He also gave me enough space where he wasn't following me around but when I needed a second opinion was more than willing to help. You can tell he wasn't just trying to make a quick sale and really took the time to get to know the style I was looking for. I ended up going with some sunglasses for frames and Aldrin informed me that I could switch the lenses at my choosing, ultimately giving two pairs for one. The pre-exam as well as the exam were both hassle free and not awkward. The doctor, though, I forget her name, was very informative in my eye care and future recommendations. The one thing that separates this experience from others and that I love about LensCrafters was the same day pick up. I am use to waiting at least a week if not more for my prescriptions but was able to pick mine up later that day. In addition, I love the machine they have you put on to measure the optimal location for your lenses as well. I can tell in other glasses that I have, if I look far off into my peripherals where the prescription starts and stops. All in all, my experience was quick and pain free. The staff that work here are PHENOMENAL! They approached us in a friendly manner if we needed assistance, checked to see if our insurance covered glasses, answered every single question we had, and were very knowledgeable. There's alot of nice glasses to choose from and the set up is nice. They have a huge selection of frames at affordable prices. Don't waste your time at this LensCrafters. My husband and I are both near-sighted, and he just got new glasses here. Not only did the store put in the wrong prescription, they also messed up the glasses, which had to be sent out to a real lab to get fixed. It took a whole week for this to be resolved, and when my husband went back, the service person didn't bother to adjust the glasses to his ears and nose. It's unfortunate that the errors defeated the purpose of having glasses ready "in about an hour," and really, I am next to get new glasses, so I am definitely avoiding this place and likely to try Costco instead. read more

My sons glasses broke and we needed to get him a new glasses. We couldn't get any appointment from our regular eye doctor so I started calling places that can take my son to get fitted a new glasses. Lens Crafters had an appointment and it was close to the house. Our appointment was at 340pm but it was so busy that he didn't get called in till 405. Joanna was really helpful. Just a headache dealing with this place and the people who work here. Giving them 1 star for TRYING to be accommodating. Mistake #1: The guy sent the wrong prescription of one lens Result: Wait 1 more week to get it redone Mistake #2: The glasses came in, but now, there was a scratch on one of the lens. The prescription also seemed way off and much too strong. Result: Wait another week because they were "out of stock" on the type of lens to get them replaced Mistake #3: Now with the lens replaced, I was able to take it home - but wait: upon closer inspection, the lens were not well-fit to the semi-rimless glasses which caused a lot of tension on my temples. There was also CLEARLY gap between the frame and the lenses. Result: Will take "up to 10 days" to get them redone The team here is terrible with communication and seems to need better training. Initially I decided to come here for convenience - get an eye exam and same-day prescription with new frames... little did I know that this would take up to ONE MONTH. Seriously? My hubby and I had our eyes examined here yesterday. Most thorough eye exam ever! The lady who helped us was friendly, engaging and knowledgeable, and helped me to select the perfect frames. Dr. Kim was super nice, very thorough and clearly explained every step of the exam and results. Huge selection of frames, reasonable prices. Very busy while we were there but it seemed like every customer was acknowledged and helped as quickly and efficiently as possible. Hubby left with crisp clear vision from his new contact lenses. Looking forward to picking up my new eyeglasses today! PS They offer a 30% discount on frames made with your prescription. There was one irate customer who selected clearance frames and couldn't understand why his selection wasn't eligible for the 30% discount even though there was a sign above the frames that stated "discount does not apply". The staff remained professional even though the customer loudly complained and threatened to "twitter LensCrafters Corporate about the terrible service". Hubby and I had the feeling that he was a real blow-hard who was just trying to get over. We all had a good laugh at his expense after he stormed out with his embarrassed wife and child in tow. If he would have selected regular priced frames he would have paid less with the discount than he was quoted for the clearance frames and lenses. Too bad for him! read more

Here is the basic story. First, I see the doctor and get a perscription. The dr was nice enough and the test was throrough. But she says they keep the perscription on file there. This is a problem because to get glasses you need a perscription so you are kinda stuck with them. Next, I buy a pair of glasses. The frames were $199. Then add the lenses, antiglare and other upgrades. By the time I leave my total bill was darn near $600.00!!! I was stunned and about to leave when they found some way to get me a $100.00 discount. So, I make the purchase. About 8 months later my right lense fogs up for no reason. I go there and they tell me it's not under warranty that somehow I caused this problem. After I showed her the only stuff that I use to clean it with is the stuff they sold me she reluctantly agrees to change the fogged up lense. This same problem happens again in about 10 months. This time they tell me they will sell me another lense for ..... get this..... $185.00!!!! I reminded them that I purchased all the upgrades including the extended warranty and they start making excuses as to why they can't replace the lense under warranty. Finally the young lady goes to get a manager who was there in the beginning of this conversation but the manager then says she's on a 20 minute break and to tell me to come back in 20 minutes when she is no longer on break!!!! Can you believe the audacity of this person? She leaves midconversation and takes a break. Just in case you are wondering, there was no raised voices and I was being very polite. After leaving there frustrated I head over to Costco to pick up some items and notice they have an optomitry department. I ask to get an estimate on a new pair of glasses and with designer POLO frames, upgraded lenses and the transition lense the total bill was $169.00 !!! Yes, I got an entire new pair of glasses with the transition lenses for less than Lense Crafters was going to charge me for ONE LENSE! My advice, if you feel you have to shop there at least get a comparison price. But, I advise simply to shop elsewhere. They are so polite when taking the money but when it comes to service they are pathetic. read more

Since moving back to the Bay almost 2 years ago, I was overdue for an eye exam. I've always had great luck with LensCrafters in NC. I don't know why I picked this LensCrafters in the Colma Metro Center, but I'm glad I did. I'm a fan of Dr. Yap and Judy -- great chair side manner and customer service, respectively. I'm only giving 4 stars b/c it was my first visit. Dr. Yap is very direct, thorough and genuinely nice. You can tell she cares about what she does versus just going through the motions. I even brought my 10yo to get her eye exam the next day. Although she had a minute change to her vision, Dr. Yap didn't press us to purchase glasses. She went through exercises for my daughter to increase her focusing skills from short to long distance and back. Then we were told to revisit before the next school year. Judy rocks. Period. The phones were ringing; people were lining up to get fitted for glasses; and people were arriving for their eye exams. Yet Judy covered it all. She was pulling triple duty in all areas. There was another associate there, but he wasn't too quick on the uptake. Like he needed to be told what to do; whereas, Judy just took care of customers. She set expectations for us, i.e., if there was going to be a wait, and did it all with a great attitude and smile. I bought a new pair of glasses and a year's supply of contacts. Glasses were done in 1 hour. While Judy was taking care of another customer, the guy in the lab came out to help me pick out glasses. Sat with me trying on the same three pairs over and over again. Bless his heart. And being in the lab, he went through the price list and could tell me if he had the lenses or not for what I wanted. My contacts would be ready in a few weeks. 2.5 weeks later I received a follow up call to let me know they arrived. When I came back, Dr. Yap was at the cash wrap and remembered me. She even asked about my daughter and husband. Now that's what an exceptional shopping experience is about. read more

I got my latest pair of glasses here a week ago. I have been going near and far to find a store with Prada frames and one night after an unscheduled walk-in, I got my eye exam done, eyes dilated, frames picked, full pair ready to be picked up in less than 24 hours. This is the fastest, most efficient turn around I've experienced so far. The optometrist Valerie Lam is pretty nice. If you have questions, she'll answer them in a way you can understand. Now I took a class or two on optometry at UCB but I still forget the basics like astigmatism, which she tells me I now have, and cataracts. I've never had my eyes dilated but it seemed creepy at first with the risk of blurred macrovision. It really didn't blur anything and was painless, except for the eye droplets which I'm not used to. The eye exam was like a game of musical chairs, one room after another, device after device. I wouldn't say fun but certainly different than before. Pickup was pretty smooth, didn't take too long. Classes were checked for fit and alignment. A case and microfiber cloth was given and I was off. I still wear my old pair, though cause my vision hasn't really changed and the lens is a bit weird on the new pair. My peripheral vision is blurry with those lenses than what I am wearing now...odd. Didn't notice until I couldn't read a sign at Nubi Yogurt clearly and had to switch back in order to read it better. Hmm... Needless to say, I think I will come to LensCrafters for my next pair as well. read more

My experience was terrible! I made an appointment for 5pm but the doctor didn't see me until 6:15pm. AND when the doctor finally called me in, she told me to take a seat in the room while to tended to some business up front. She came back to the room 2 minutes later and kicked me out telling me that there was another patient ahead of me and that their files had gotten mixed up. I then waited another 30 minutes to see the doctor. Spending almost 2 hours waiting and 1 hour seeing the doctor. Also, when I first arrived, they had informed me that they had not pulled up my medical records. Isn't this something they should be doing beforehand?! Another thing, the rest of the employees speak so loudly, you know exactly what is going on with every patient. Totally unprofessional! read more

Came here to get contact lenses for my 9 year old boy who hates wearing glasses. Saw Dr. Brew on the weekend and after a short wait, he was friendly and great with my kid. He was very understanding of our situation and we are very happy. He gave us contact samples with training (nice lady) and upon our return gave us our prescription. Overall, a good experience. Terrible service. Overpriced. I needed new glasses and frames. I needed them fast since my old pair broke. I chose a frame that I liked and the service staff said that the lenses for this frame were special order. So I waited a week for them to arrive. I received a call that my glasses were ready to be picked up. I went the next day and they said that they just had to do some final fitting and would be ready in an hour. So i figured I would do some work at the Starbucks and come back. Went back 2 1/2 hours later and the glasses were still not ready. They said 10 more minutes which turned into 45. Initially I was happy with the glasses but then one of the lenses kept loosening and popping out. I am on my 5th replacement screw, and finally the frame broke. I inquired if this was a manufacturing defect and was told no. I would have to pay full price for a new frame if I wanted them changed. I bought a replacement frame (which I was given at 1/2 price 2 days ago). The same sided lens popped out again! I can't take it! Never going back again. read more

I ended up picking up the Oakley Socket 4.0 and a pair of Oakley Gascan's to go with it. Again, with Olga's help I am extremely happy with my purchases. I appreciated her honest yet professional opinion. 3 months later, I'm still as stoked every time I put on my Oakley's! My initial experience here was so great I had to come back. This time Mike, the actual Store Manager helped me and the experience was as good as the first! This time I picked up the Burberry BE2086. Again, I asked for his professional opinon and he gave me honest answers which I appreciate. I wanted to pay for the glasses with a Visa card I left at home and he suggested that I call in the next morning with the info to pay. Angela helped me the next morning and told me they'll put in the lens within 2 hours to accomodate my picking it up during my lunch hour. When I arrived, all the staff greeted me. Olga was there and she remembered helping me before. She made adjustments to the BE2086 to better fit me but it was a bit defective. It was acceptable to me, but she insisted that I take my new glasses with me and she'll order me a new pair for replacement. Well, that night she went out of her way to get a new pair from another store and called me back to replace it. I went in the next day and Mike happily helped me adjust the new BE2086's. Talk about service...that's what keeps me coming back. 3 pairs of glasses in 3 months? Very uncharacteristic of me, but that's the kind of service the Colma Team led by Olga and Mike has given me. I came here because it's the closest to my house in South City and situated conveniently in the Tanforan Mall. The selection is OK and could definitely do better. I like choosing good, quality products with a brand name (Prada, Versace, D&G) and found myself with hardly any styles that I had liked. Prices were $$, of course... what do you expect from a retail store? They don't accept my current insurance (VSP) but they accept all others (Blue Anthem, CPMC, EyeMed, etc.). They are also partnered with California EyeMed, which performs eyeglass and contact lens exams. I purchased two boxes of 02 Optix (Ciba) from them in June and paid around $60 for them. I didn't know any better because once I got home, I realized that I could've gotten them from www.visiondirect.com or 1800contact.com for at least 40% cheaper! Check em out if ya'll wanna save some money!!! read more

Time for new glasses for my husband and I. Had worked with LensCrafters before for students in my District, SFUSD and my daughter really likes the people here so we thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did. Angela was wonderful and made sure that we understood the pricing, discounts and insurances. Took the time to really make us feel comfortable, while her professionalism and sense of humor kept it all light. Two other staff members were equally wonderful and the selection of frames was great. The two doctors (I've seen them both) are extremely friendly and they are both very knowledgable about their field. This particular visit was with my dad who was seeing flashes of light, which is an extremely frightening sign and may potentially be an ocular emergency. We explained our situation on the phone, and they told him he could be seen within 20 minutes (timely service, eh?). After running through some initial tests, the doctor sat down and fully explained the situation to my father and helped him feel more at ease about the situation. Turns out, the flashing was caused by the less severe of two situations! Being an optometry student myself, I appreciated the doctor for explaining to me the tests she was running and why, and also allowing me to look through equipment and discuss with her potential issues regarding my dad's case, etc. Loved it. This is my first and last. Sucks customer service, I made an appointment for eye exam and Im pretty sure my appointment is Feb 5,2019 tuesday at 10 am and I cancelled all my appointment just to have an eye exam and One of the lady (sherree) working here, Im trying to show it to her that I called them last friday feb 1, 2019 to make an appointment by showing her my call history, she didn't even try to look it up and I know she heard me but she wasn't listening. We love LensCrafters! Our son has gotten his glasses since he was 4 years old, and they always make adjustments to his glasses. There was a time when we would come in at least once a month. My son recently just wrecked his glasses, and because of the warranty we purchased, we got a new frame for just $25! Ok, so I have been going to this particular location for at least 10 years. Of course, in that period of time i have had better experiences than others. I bought a pair of German frames in NYC, and I wanted to have my lenses done locally. Ryan was my first contact, and was very friendly and knowledgeable in taking care of my lenses. Today, I had the pleasure of dealing with Matthew the optician. He worked with me on tweaking my frames to make them fit. He had some sick frames on himself, and is fine. read more
