Lenny's is a true local gem! It is hard to find authentic homestyle diner's like Lenny's. This cute restaurant on colonial avenue is the perfect breakfast spot before a day on the beach! They serve breakfast food all day along with lunch items. I LOVE their crispy hashbrown potatoes. They are SO good!! They also make the bacon super crispy and eggs perfectly. On our way home today we stopped to visit friends in Colonial Beach, VA. Colonial Beach is a historic waterfront town on Virginia's Northern Neck, known for its second-longest public beach in Virginia, a vibrant boardwalk, and a variety of water activities like kayaking and boating. Located on the Potomac River, it offers a mix of local history, including Civil War sites and birthplace monuments, alongside modern attractions like breweries, restaurants, and year-round events. Visitors can enjoy the beaches, explore the town's shops and eateries, or take a golf cart cruise to discover the area's charm. Plus we enjoyed delicious brunch at Lenny's Restaurant. Under new ownership as of 2016 Lennys Restaurant is currently run by Shirley Griffiths. For 30 years it was owned and operated by Leonard S. Skeens, who passed away in 2007. Lenny's is a small family style restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. I had their delicious ham steak breakfast and Carol had their Turkey and Swiss sandwich. All in all, it was a good breakfast experience and a chance to spend quality time with some good friends. Since last year I've ways gotten the French toast egg and cheese with the meat on the side. I really wish I had taken photos of what I got yesterday but I didn't because I was too hungry. My French toast was just cinnamon bread and wasn't dipped in the egg wash and pan fried/ seared. And the country ham I got on the side looked soggy and grey. Like too it was too wet. Could've been seared a little at least so it was kinda crispy but no. So I tossed it. Wasted a whole $2.50 on a slice of that that's like the side of a dollar bill. And $1.10 for a slice of cheese? Eating at Lenny's for years living a few blocks away it's outstanding , as I really appreciate it's menu my favorite is Breakfast although I will often get a Reuben with fries and Lenny's sauce it's one of the best Reuben's anywhere , additionally there Chefs salad is always fresh and delicious . Recently came for Sunday brunch during a family visit. Had to wait for a little while because the place was hopping busy. Let me tell you, the wait was worth it. The food was absolutely delicious and filling. I got a breakfast burrito and could only eat half at the restaurant. Whenever we made a trip to CB, we'd always make plans to see you! But we're done! It's over! You know what you did! In case you're scratching your head, here's why I've fallen out of love with you: This past weekend, my sis and niece came to see you. My niece had never met you and we were excited to introduce her to you. Sadly, you made a terrible impression. We sat outside at one of three cute wrought iron tables all with umbrellas and the front door was bright hanging plants and flower pots. Looks can be deceiving though. Our server, Kyle, polite and friendly, was just not efficient. We asked for items several times and he'd come back and forth and forget to bring them. When our food did come out, very slowly I might add, it was awful! My meal: the scrambled eggs weren't scrambled, it was like a big flat yellow blob. I ordered country ham but was served a burnt ham steak. When Kyle brought the correct ham, it was tasteless. The pancake was sad and doughy, they used to be fluffy and golden brown. The grits were lumpy and just plain blech!!! My niece's meal: She ordered Eggs Benedict with crab meat. DON'T ORDER THIS! It was simply gross. Not only did it look disgusting, but when she and my sis tried it, they gagged. It was smelly, fishy and bad. The management made lame excuses when I told them and gave me a hard time when I asked to take it off the bill. Instead of taking the whole price of the entrée off, they just took off $3.50 for the bad crab. My sister's meal: She ordered sausage and eggs which was edible but not great. She and I went in to see about the bill, and we saw that the staff had changed... the short order cook was some young dude who was plating up some nasty looking food. Was out enjoying the drive when I ended up in colonial Beach and all of a sudden I became very hungry and I came across Lennies. It was a small quaint little place but Man was the food good and the staff and waiters and waitresses were just super friendly. I got the sausage over biscuits and they gave you one and a half biscuits, I did good just eating one whole biscuit. If you're in the area stop it. They're open from 6 to 3. read more

If you're looking for where the locals go then this is it. Our motel highly recommended Lenny's for breakfast and lunch and they were right. Our meals and waitresses were both great. We ate there three times during our visit and had fun connecting with the locals and the staff. They were very welcoming to us and made us feel like we were from their community too. So my first review of this place was ten years ago. Sadly, my opinion of it has now changed. New owners, new remodel......but inferior food and service. We visited in May 2019 and I had some apprehensions about the situation we found ourselves in. After this past weekend, I'm done with Lenny's. We walked in around noon on Sunday (well past the breakfast rush), took a look around and there were five empty tables but they still had dirty dishes all over them. There were 6 or more dishes of food on the counter presumably waiting to be delivered to diners (and obviously getting cold). As we stood there waiting, no one even greeted us. I had breakfast at Lenny's yesterday morning with my mom and aunt, and we were excited because Lenny's used to be really good. It seems maybe they've made some staffing or management changes because it is not the place it used to be. We sat outside, which was nice and apparently the outdoor seating is new. Our server, Kyle, was pleasant and attentive, but the service was really slow. It took forever for our food to come out, over 20 minutes, maybe longer. Kyle checked on us a lot but we did have to ask him several times to bring items we requested like pepper, which was empty on the table. When our food finally arrived, it was not good. I got the eggs benedict and had added crab meat. I had expected the eggs to have the hollandaise on top and then for the crab meat to be added on top of the sauce. The crab was cooked INTO the sauce, which might have been okay, but the crab was not fresh and tasted fishy and bad. I tried a few bites of it and it was just foul, so I had my mom try it, and she made a loud "Ugh!!" sound as soon as she tasted it. And she LOVES crab. All of our grits were thick and lumpy, and my aunt's order was slightly wrong, with a ham steak instead of the country ham she ordered (they were different items on the menu). The ham steak was half-burnt on top of being the wrong item. My aunt explained to the woman inside that my crab had tasted bad and I wasn't able to eat it, and asked for it to be taken off the bill. The woman was very reluctant to take the item off, saying there "was nothing wrong" with the crab and it had just come in that day. My aunt had to go back and forth with her, explaining my mother had tried it too and it was fishy-tasting and foul, before finally she would take it off. They were not apologetic or accommodating. Also there were several other mistakes on the bill overall, drinks we hadn't ordered and wrong items. We definitely won't be back. read more

For a diner, this place is top notch! We got there and Megan (our waitress) sat us wearing her perfectly pink flamingo headband! My six year old, who never eats, ate all of her waffles and bacon. My eleven year old ate all of her pancakes, eggs and sausage. In a special display of selfless kindness she offered my husband and I a bite of her sausage patties which appear to be made at Lenny's. Those things were amazing!!! My husband and I split the chicken fried steak with home fries, toast and eggs. The steak was great, and smelled so good the eleven year-old asked for a bite! If you like places that remind you of having breakfast at home, go to Lenny's! Excellent food, the servers are really nice, and accurate with your order and you won't leave hungry. We usually come here after Church on Sundays, and it can be somewhat crowded, but you can usually find a spot. Either way, it's worth the wait. But now it has come into its own and the food has come back to the old Lenny's I loved. Take my family to this place every time we are in town. Ok so, this review is two fold. Good: The cook was lovely, she waited on us when the servers wouldn't. The eggs benedict was tasty, and they have hash browns which is rare in this area, usually you can only get home fries. Bad: Service was horrendous. There was an older man and woman that would disappear together, regularly. We found out they were the owners. When we got into the restaurant, no tables were bussed, they were all dirty. We sat down at the clean table that was available, and it took 15 minutes just to get coffee. I went and got the menus they never brought them by. Eventually the cook realized us, and two other groups had not been waited on. She got us coffee and took me ur orders all while cooking for the rest of the diner. Then the male server/owner had the gall to come in, stomp his feet and be rude to the customers. Then when the cook finished cooking my corned beef hash much later than the rest of the meal, he mocked her, when it was his behavior and the other server that caused the issue. I gave Lenny's two stars because my eggs benedict was good, and my husbands breakfast was good. We tipped the cook because she was stellar. The service and pouting behavior by the servers however, makes it almost intolerable. Went back today just to see if this issue was standard. The cook from yesterday was waiting tables, and the owners were cooking instead, we asked for extra crispy hash browns, and instead received extra greasy. The grease literally rolled off the hash browns and they were mush. The rest of the food was fine, and service was better today. read more

My husband and I have been eating Sunday breakfast at Lenny's for over a year as we built our new home. The staff is attentive and always pleasant. Pancakes, waffles and the #3 OM hard, hash browns, sausage and rye toast always good. Before we even order, Tina brings us our coffee, water w/lemon and OJ since we're regulars. When they're busy you may have to wait 10 minutes for your order to come out. OK with me. You can eat in or order take out. Great food, attentive staff and we're always happy when we leave. read more
