This was from my third visit to Botanic cafe and I can't say enough great things about this local coffee shop. The location is next to a ton of local businesses and brings something truly artisan to Leonardtown. I am a vegetarian and am never disappointed by their rotating options and delicious staples. The coffee is the best in town. They have creative options and classics and they are all well made. I will say this is not a fast service spot - and for the quality you are just fooling yourself if you expect it to be. The warm interior and pastry case offer plenty to enjoy while you wait. Update: I've returned many times to try their lunches, smoothies, and coffees. I love all the fun coffee and tea drinks, they really get creative and bring new specials frequently. My favorite so far has been the BEAUTIFUL butterfly pea matcha!! The food is great as well. The salads are consistently good, but the sandwiches really shine. I got a simple grilled cheese and tomato soup and was greeted with a great iteration of the classic. I'm not one for overly chunky or creamy soups, and this one was the perfect consistency to keep the great taste. With the sandwich so fresh it had grill marks, theres no better combination. read more

Cute little spot with a lot of food and drinks! We came in for some coffee and a late breakfast. Loved all of the seasonal drink offerings! We got the pumpkin cinnabun shaken espresso and blueberry maple waffle latte, both really great coffee drinks! To eat we got the breakfast sandwich and Turkey, apple havarti cheese sandwich, both sandwiches were also tasty! The service from the three staff members we interacted with was great! Everyone was very friendly and really cared about the quality of drinks/ food they were making. Super cute little cafe on the side of SOF (Shepherd's Old Field Market). They are newly renovated; there's seating available inside and outside. The staff greeted us when we entered and exited and were patient as we decided what we wanted. The food came fairly quickly considering it was freshly prepared. We came at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I got a Turkey cranberry and Brie panini and it was delicious! The flavors were perfectly paired and the melted Brie was my favorite part. It came with a small side salad of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes and balsamic. With your sandwich you can choose chips as a side instead. My family got the Mac and cheese and it was okay. The cheese taste wasn't as strong as I prefer. I also ordered a special - chai Irish cream latte. The Irish cream taste was strong and took over the chai flavor, but it was good. They make chai with a tea bag and not powder or syrup, so I love that it's less sugar. I look forward to returning here and next time I might get a dessert. (Many looked delicious) There is a single bathroom in the cafe (or you could use the larger bathroom in SOF). read more

We've always had good food from Botanic. Today's food was ok what we had of it. We all three had an oz. or so of chicken salad on a sub roll. There were greens and a tomato slice. We each had three quarters of the sub roll left that was thrown out for the birds. At least they will eat well. Topping off the bad experience, chips were not included with the sandwiches. I'm chalking this up to a bad day. And, they were very busy. We will eventually be back. read more

I came with a friend for lunch around 12:15. When we arrived it wasn't very busy but within maybe ten minutes it was packed. There is limited indoor seating, so I'd recommend getting there early to beat the rush and secure a seat if you choose to dine in. Because it's small, it did get pretty loud but that didn't bother us. The staff was friendly and our food was done quickly. I had the winter salad and added salmon. It was an OK salad, but didn't come out as advertised on their menu. For example, the salad didn't have sprouts and the walnuts were definitely not candied. You can see that in the photo. Also, it said it came with and olive oil and vinegar dressing, but I believe what I was given was a raspberry vinaigrette. Not a big deal but I was expecting balsamic. The salmon was a little dry/over cooked. I had an iced pomegranate tea which was very good. It was a little pricey in my opinion for what it was. For the salad, a tea and bottle of water my total was a little over $24 (before the tip). So lunch ran me about $30. I don't mind paying $17 for a salad, as long as it's good. I would return but would probably try a sandwich next time. All of the sandwiches I saw coming out looked really good. read more

I frequent this Deli quite often and find the quality keeps to the highest of standards. The service is exceptional and the all organic healthy food is fresh and tantalizing. The Chef makes everything from scratch so you know it's good. Breakfast to lunch it's a wonderful experience. I especially like the Avocado Toast or the Breakfast sandwich with a great cup of coffee. Lunch has a wonderful selections of sandwiches and salads. many baked goods too. We visited the cafe on a Sunday morning on our first trip to Leonardtown. It's a cute place with a boho chic vibe. Our ordering experience was a little odd, and had a communication issue with the young woman at the register. Beyond that, they had about 3x as many people behind the counter (7-8) than in the dining area (2). Even with that many people working on food, they were not fast. They also just plain forgot half of our order. The smoothies came out early, and were done by the time any food came. We both had the berry banana smoothies - and they were very good. I recommend them if you decide to visit. We did not have coffee, so can't comment on their offerings. My husband's bagel came out a while later, and then my food never came. His got cold. I finally asked about my order, and they plain forgot about it. Note - we were the only people in the place - with an open kitchen. So us continuing to have food sit on the table and get cold, while obviously eyeing the kitchen, didn't cause anyone to notice. Overall, the food was fine, but nothing that can't be found elsewhere. read more

Unique options for St. Mary's lunch. I like the homemade chips and the chicken salad sandwich. Always taste fresh. The owner is rude and almost always has a passive-aggressive tone. The food is overpriced for what you get and not very tasty (underseasoned) and menu is limited. In addition, even when not busy, the food and drinks take way too long. They don't even make an effort to try that the food for a small group comes out relatively close to the same time, so you just sit there watching others finish their meal without even a drink. Everything was fresh and made from scratch! They had non-menu item empanadas with high quality steak, egg, and olive filling in good Argentine fashion. However, the crust was a little undercooked and was too thin to hold together the weight of all that tasty goodness. The lemon bars were very sweet, but delicious. The buffalo chicken wrap was also a savory ensemble of freshness, which was unexpected, but largely due to an unexpected take on that which is buffalo chicken. There wasn't any traditional buffalo sauce and the chicken was sliced deli meat, but still very tasty. The pour over hazelnut latte tasted smooth and creamy. Lastly, the service was great! The wrap's dressing dripped on my black pants, no big deal but they were out of napkins. One of the baristas ran to grab some paper towels for me not even realizing my predicament and she apologized for their lack of supply. She was also very considerate of me when I was waiting to order by asking the previous customer, who struck a 3-5 minute conversation with another employee, to kindly sign the card machine so she could help me.
