Horrible store with horrible customer service. They won't bother to help if your job is below a certain $ amount.

Ace itself is rarely the most economical option when I need something for home improvement. Also…read moreI'm a cheapskate. With that said, I am a happy patron of this particular store and always go there first if I need something. When you get there it doesn't seem like they are definitely going to have what you specifically need because it's in such a small space (compared to say Home Depot is Lowe's) but they do such an excellent job of curating their stock that I have never not found what I was looking for. I don't even know how they do it but it's really impressive. When I'm shopping for something I am really adverse to employees approaching me (I fall for an up sell really easily so it just makes me anxious). The staff here though are always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It has the feel of a neighborhood mom and pop type of store and I attribute most of that to the staff. It's clear that everyone there actually wants to be there and it makes for a great experience. The only negative is that the Ace Rewards is one of the most useless rewards program I have ever encountered but that's not up for to the store so I'm not holding it against them. Getting a five dollar coupon for a specific item I'm never going to need if I spend a hundred bucks is kind of silly though. The worst customer service I have ever received has consistently been at Home Depot and Lowe's. Between waiting for a couple employees to finish their conversations when I need help to asking where something is and getting an "I dunno" it makes me really happy to have an option where I am positive that will never happen. If you need something for home improvement go there first. Even if it's not the closest, it's worth it for the great shopping experience.

For some reason, Benjamin Moore has this address as a choice to pick up online paint orders…read more However, there's apparently no communication between this brick and mortar and its neighbor, Schuele Paint Company, which is where the paint is mixed. I showed up at 6:45pm to pick up my order that was allegedly ready and waiting for me at 22 Summer Street. I was told that paint is only ever at the 12 Summer Street location and that the location closed at 5pm. Not great. I specifically chose 22 Summer Street since it closed at 7pm. I'm not sure why it would pop up as an option unless there was a prior assumption/agreement made with/by Benjamin Moore that this company isn't honoring. Either way, I will place my order at other locations to ensure that I no longer make unnecessary trips.

I know the business name is "Hertel Hardware," but they do quite a bit more than just sell tools…read more For years and years, Hertel Hardware has been my family's source for our plumbing needs. I can plumbers visiting to snake pipes, drain our basement, repair a line out to the street. Agh. Since my buddy bought a property that I've helped manage, I've had to call them myself to deal with frozen pipes, clogged pipes, and recently the diagnosis of whatever the heck was going on that resulted in some severe water damage in the kitchen ceiling. The plumbers who showed up have been personable and professional, explaining each step they were taking, what the causes of the issue are, and what maintenance solutions could be taken to prevent recurrence of said issues in the future. In other words, they've successfully dispelled most of the mystery that so often veils the sphere of plumbing. Most of the times I have needed to call them out have been for emergencies, and they really accommodate such emergencies pretty well, oftentimes pushing and reordering less urgent calls in order to do so. The downside of this practice is that if you are a less urgent call, you can find yourself waiting longer than you expected. When calling to schedule an appointment, you receive a window, not a fixed time... much like Time Warner Cable. Billing is transparent and is now accomplished on site via smartphone, which I do appreciate. Mario and Luigi might still be my favorite set of plumbers, but Hertel Hardware isn't far behind.

Hertel did a wonderful job with our home's plumbing renovations. They replaced galvanized pipes…read morewith copper and replaced water tank, and in the process of these repairs, they found other issues which they alerted us to, and fixed them right away. We also hired them to renovate our HVAC system. They were patient with us as we spent a great deal of time looking into various options in terms of energy and cost. The only small issue is that it is sometimes hard to get a hold of a plumber to answer questions, and you are often relaying messages through a receptionist.
