I spend a lot of time and money at the big three hardware stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, and Ace) in Colorado. we stoppéd by GUI's Ace hardware on Grand Island and asked if they had a restroom I could use before I picked up the items I needed (2 to 3 hundred dollars). The person I spoke with (I refuse to call him a gentleman) very rudely told me it was strictly for employees use and I could go across the street and walked away. We left the store without purchasing what we needed and drove to the local Home Depot. I will never enter another Ace Hardware anywhere in the country and will dissuade anyone else from doing the same. I was publicly embarrassed and humiliated, something Home Depot or Lowe's would never do. Please let your local Ace hardware know your disabled veterans deserve better.

We had the Home Depot contractors come and refinish our kitchen. Reface cabinets, new cupboard doors, and a peninsula built. The sales guy Andrew (who said "I'm not a typical sales guy") was extremely pleasant btw told us for an order placed on 9-24-2025, we would be completed for that Thanksgiving. Construction started on 12-29-2025 and I signed the complete paperwork in February or March. We were told we shouldn't have been told that from our not-sales guy. Too much to say here. Bottom line is we are extremely disappointed with most of it. Things don't line up, cupboard doors needed to be reordered at least twice, soft close hinges and slides get stuck and the material chips very easily. For $20k plus, we feel taken with the poor quality and length of time taken to complete ESPECIALLY being told a lie. And of course no one will return our calls or emails. Now I know people probably have had positive experiences and that's fantastic! We were not one of them.

If you are someone who loves hardware stores, and remembers when almost every neighborhood had one,…read morethen Pine Avenue Hardware is for you. In operation for 70 years they have tons of new old stock items and hard or impossible to find older plumbing, hardware, and household items. The store is really part museum with photographs of the owner decades ago with the likes of Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, etc., as well as wonderful old store fixtures. But this is still clearly a neighborhood anchor. When we were there recently people came in to have keys cut, for a large cast iron frying pan, and other everyday items. You will not find the selection of a larger store, but no hardware store aficionado should be within 20 miles of Pine Avenue Hardware without stopping by.
