Repeated Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Charges** We originally contacted Royal Renovators because our roof was leaking. They came out twice and still couldn't identify the source of the problem. Each visit came with new explanations and new charges, none of which made sense in hindsight. Eventually, they claimed they had finally found the issue and charged us approximately **$4,800** for the repair. We trusted their assessment and paid, hoping the leak would finally be resolved. ### **2. Leak Still Present -- and More Confusion** The next time it rained, the leak was still there. Same spot, same issue. When we called them back, they used a drone to inspect the roof but still couldn't figure out what was wrong. Their uncertainty was alarming. We ended up using **our own drone**, and we were the ones who actually located the problem area. When we pointed it out to them, they insisted the leak was coming from the chimney area -- which was completely incorrect. At that point, it was obvious they were guessing, not diagnosing. ### **3. The Skylight Disaster** While they were assessing the roof leak, we made the mistake of agreeing to have a skylight installed at the same time. That turned out to be another huge error. The skylight they installed looks like a **DIY project**, not professional work. It has a **constant draft**, and when the weather gets cold, the draft is unbearable. It's clear they had no idea what they were doing, and the workmanship reflects that. Instead of adding value to our home, the skylight became another problem we had to live with. ### **4. Lack of Professionalism and Skill** Between the misdiagnosed leak, the sloppy skylight installation, and the inconsistent explanations, it became clear that the workers and foremen lacked the knowledge and professionalism expected from a roofing company. Their priority seemed to be collecting payments, not fixing the actual issues. ### **5. A Competent Company Fixed Everything** We finally decided to get a second opinion and found **2BQ Roofing**. The difference was immediate. They assessed the roof and instantly identified the real issue -- something Royal Renovators failed to do after multiple visits and thousands of dollars. 2BQ Roofing fixed the problem correctly, and here we are **three years later with not a single drop of water**. That alone speaks volumes. ### **6. Final Thoughts** I would never recommend Royal Renovators to anyone. Their service was unprofessional, their workers were incompetent, and their repeated misdiagnoses cost us time, stress, and money. The skylight installation was just the final confirmation that they were not capable of doing the job. If you're looking for a roofing company that actually knows what they're doing, skip Royal Renovators entirely. I researched and got estimates from about a half-dozen gutter companies and decided on LI Gutters…read moreas their price was reasonable, their service personable and friendly AND they returned calls promptly, which always surprises me with service companies. They came when they said they would, called first, did a really fast and excellent job on our repairs and installation. I had also called them way back at the start of 2014 when we first saw that we needed work but didn't actually get around to hiring someone until now, November. They honored their January estimate. My only problem (and I admit it was my fault) was the end estimate was higher than they originally quoted because we needed fascia replaced. They did tell me that would be extra, and they told me the per foot price. I forgot about that "small detail" so when they gave me the bill I was surprised at the higher amount, but then they explained it to me and I remembered they did tell me that, so it was my bad. They did do extra work and/or gave me an aluminum cover for the replaced wood fascia and did not charge me the extra amount it would have been. LOVE IT!!!! Oh, and one other thing; they originally made a mistake on the color of the gutter and so had to return a second day with the proper color but of course did not charge me extra. This was a small and understandable mistake which they promptly made good on. The workers were fast, came when they said they would, worked quietly and very cleanly. No evidence anyone had been there (we had watched them work intermittently so of course we knew they were there!) because they cleaned everything up so well. Office staff, workers and Paul (the owner?) himself were very polite and nice. What a delightful change from most companies nowadays. Highly recommend them.
