I just moved in to town and needed some help. I Yelped and found John. He and his guys showed up as planned and evaluated my work load. He found the best and most economical way to do the job. They came back the next day and in one day put up bamboo fencing all around my yard, built my new dresser, AND poured self leveling concrete for a foundation for the shed that they built and completed all in the same day. I have worked directly with John, and most recently J.P. These are big men physically and there professionalism makes them Vikings in Tuxedos. Yes they get busy, and you might have to wait a day or two in a non-emergency situation, but the quality of their work, the fairness of the price (more than fair to us, almost feel guilty about how little I pay). In summary, I would entrust them wth any job they said they could do. Why, because there is an immediate sense of trust, and I have had the benefit of working with them on two occasions already. If I had another job for Leimer Construction to do, I'd hire him and his crew in a heartbeat! What I appreciated most, was John Leimer's constant motivation to communicate with me mostly via text regarding the next steps in the process of my bathroom revamping. I texted back with any questions I had, which he answered promptly. Also, all of his subcontractors did excellent, careful work. I would welcome them all back as well if I had more work for them. I had to contact him re the follow up and then he never responded when I gave him potential follow up meeting times at his request. The reason I gave him 2 stars instead of 1 is that I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt: could be he's overwhelmed with business from yelp because of his good ratings. Leimer Construction does really great work. They do large and small projects and do them professionally. I had them build and incredibly complex play structure and unusual series of 15' beam gates like you see in Kyoto and they did a phenomenal job. The wood working skills of John's guys are incredible. Not only that John himself and his guys like Brad and JP are just the nicest people. So, I needed to build a garage for my new car out of the existing carport. The garage door installer recommended John Leimer Handyman do this simple job because he had sent business John's way in the past. Ok. His estimate was over the top but he said time and materials. SO, I am constantly at home so I knew I could keep them on track and not turn a simple job into the lottery for John. The first day, 2 guys showed up. John was there, too, and briefly explained what was needed. Then he left. Since the first day was demolition, one would think the genius, John, would order a debris box...NO, he had these two guys load up one of their pickups trucks and both go to the dump. The dump charge was $75 a load and the guys are $85.00 per hour?????!!!!! What? Should have checked what the time meant in time and materials. Ok, so after spending 2 hours, two guys driving to the dump 2 times on the first day, I have wasted $490.00. And they started at 8AM and left at 2:30PM with a half hour lunch. The second day I told the guys I got a debris box...they were very happy and wondered why John hadn't thought of that. The second day went faster cause I wasn't paying for leisurely dump runs. When they went to replace a beam that came out of the house and supported some fascia boards (it was rotten) at the end, they decided to stop the beam before it got to supporting the fascia boards because they said it wouldn't rot the beam again. The fascia boards were FLOATING IN SPACE with no support anymore. I told them John said that he would place some metal between the beam and the fascia boards so they wouldn't rot out again. OH, said the men, he didn't tell us. John didn't give us any plans. SO they said they would get a new beam and make it like it had been originally and put the metal in between. I asked how much their mistake was going to cost me. They said they would eat the cost. Good. I kept track of their hours. When the job was done, one of the guys decided to back down my steep driveway and ended up going over the curb alongside my drive and getting caught there. Blocking everything. 2 hours later, two of my trees cut down, a large branch now dangling over my driveway, the tow truck was able to get the car back up over the curb and running again. I ask about this new dangling branch and I hand a tool over to one of them to knock the branch down. He can't but leans this rake against the back of his truck. The tow guy asked him to move his truck back and, yup, you guessed it, mangled the rake leaning against the car. That day I had told the guys that my outside light was always on because i leave the power switch to the garage on all the time. I ask them to switch it out with a motion detector light when they are putting the light back up. Well, they shatter the glass in the original light when they were replacing it and tell John it was broken anyway, that I had pointed that out! What? I didn't say it was broken but always on because of my switches. The light was fine. John is now telling me he will drop by early in the morning to get my final check. I ask him about disposing of the trees in my yard and the dangling branch. He tells me the branch was always dangling and they didn't do it. What? Were you there, John? I stood there and watched them knock it from the tree. John came by 2 times during the construction, didn't use his License or Insurance or Worker's Comp. I had to manage the men because they had no direction from John. John wouldn't admit he should have ordered a debris box to save me money and be more efficient. He just said, "I allowed for those charges in the estimate"????????? SO, that makes it ok? Oh, ok, you told me I would be charged a ridiculous amount for dump runs at $170.00 per hour cause 2 men need to go to the dump all the time. This guys an idiot. The bill he presented to me had 10 extra hours in it and he said he adjusted it for the beam mishap. No, he added 10 more hours and didn't take out the 4 man hours for the mishap with the beam. I showed him the men's hours and he said well some days they are doing work outside the times they're here, like dump runs or getting supplies. Wrong, John. They never showed up with any materials, they always went to get them on my dime during work and I stopped these dump runs by getting a $162. debris box after paying $500 for 2 wasted dump runs. He said he would insulate the new construction in the garage but ran out of insulation and wouldn't get more. John came back and stood on his truck to knock down the branch and it dented his car top. Yes, John, that is my fault. I was going to hire him for a massive retaining wall replacement and pool house but not now. He told me I lied about the light so he wasn't going to complete the painting job on my garage and wouldn't do the retaining wall or pool shed. That's ok John, I would have never hired you after you tried to cheat me. U did nothing 4 the $ read more

After interviewing half a dozen contractors, we chose John because of his strong references, trust-inspiring personal style, competence and availability at the desired time. The project involved removing and replacing cabinets, counters, backsplash, appliances, painting, plumbing, windows and refinishing floors with more contemporary materials. John is very organized and efficient and is a great communicator. Happily, his team finished the project in 3 months, with little to no lags in between.
