If you love Lego, this is the store for you. They have all of the major lego packages there -- Chima, Star Wars, City. Can you tell I have boys? You won't find a lot of accessories here though. I believe most of those items are licensed out so you'll have to go to major retailers for storage boxes and the like. Whenever I take my boys there they go bonkers. What kid wouldn't? And while you won't get any sales here, they do have a VIP program which goes toward future purchases. And one Tuesday a month they have a "free build" where your kid can make the small item and take it home -- for free! We particularly like the "fill your bucket" where my kids can fill up a container of loose Legos and bring it home. It's a great treat for them. read more

This store is just like any other Lego store. The people who work here, however, are the nicest, most helpful, knowledgeable builders we have ever met. I hope the employees of this store are recognized for their amazing customer service. They treat every customer with such kindness, and a caring attitude. They don't mind if you are playing with their samples, or window shopping. They just are the best! Updated- we are here every other week, and they even know us by name! What is more appealing than walking into a Lego world? The children were drawn to this store like moths to a flame.....and I had no choice but to wonder with all three as we looked at every single crevice. It was pretty cool, as it was May 4 and the fourth was with us as we attempted to make awesome Star Wars microfighters. Prices are all comparable to what Legos are at places like Target, but the selection! Oh the selection! So many options to choose from! The store was very clean and put together. My children enjoyed themselves and that was all that mattered. read more

Located at Northbrook Court on the 2nd floor between Macy's and AMC Theatres, the Lego Store is a boutique for the renowned construction sets we all grew up with. I came here with my kids for a birthday party at the store. When I first got there, I didn't think of it as anything more than a shopping themed party, as there really wasn't a place for the adults to hang out and watch the kids playing. But then I got an idea... What if I made an airplane-like thingy with a propeller on top and some wheels, and these two fins. Before long, I was tinkering away on Legos with my two kids and helping them with their own creations. At a party like this, you can't just be a spectator. Two store employees ran the party. They had a dedicated Lego table for the 10 kids in attendance (and myself). No other parents tried their hand at Lego building, so either I'm a big kid or a cool parent. The Lego Store has a bright yellow floor which seems to give the whole place a glow inside. Round, clear bins on the back wall contain individual Lego pieces of a specific type and color. Around the sides, there are Lego play sets you can get, plus exhibits behind glass cases showing Lego masterpieces like a Space Shuttle or an AT-AT from Star Wars made out of hundreds of pieces. In the end, instead of the usual goodie bag, every kid got to make their own "Lego guy" and then fill a cardboard box about the size of a McDonald's Happy Meal box with Legos of their choice. These included all kinds of colorful bricks, wheels, hubs, pivots and oddities for making almost everything you can dream up. A fun place for kids - or adults who never forgot how much fun Lego building can be. read more

I take it back. I'm setting the record straight once and for all. I have new information. No, not the information about the super cool new Detective's Office that just came out on the market, but the fact that we were misinformed the last time around about free Lego build Tuesday. After my last review, being one of my saddest parent moments, my kids didn't get to do the build because they ran out. After asking about it, we were told by someone there we had to pay next time. What? When one of my kiddos asked whether they would ever go to the free build again, I saw a glimmer of hope and picked up the phone to find out what the heck was going on. I mean we spent nearly $200 on the Parisian Restaurant Lego set this Christmas, so I felt fully justified that they should get to do a free mini build - and we're a part of the VIP club. Here's the deal. There is still free Lego build Tuesday during the first Tuesday of every month. But, I was told by an employee that they now offer the kids a choice to build in the store or take it with them. With this being the choice, they run out fast, because most people take it to go - which we witnessed the last time around. We were advised to get in the line early, this last time around, and we did. And, we got to build...for free...right in the store. My faith in Lego has been restored. Not that I ever really lost faith, because there is no stopping my purchases, but I was hoping more than anything they weren't forgetting to reward the customers who spend hundreds of dollars in there. I love this store, it makes me feel like a kid again. Plus it's a much safer and less costly than plastic surgery. Anyhow, I really liked Lego's when I was a kid, however if they had these years ago I'd be addicted. I wasn't into dolls I even had a love/hate relationship with my Easy Bake Oven. It made me smile to see little girls in the store, I'm sure American Girl is a fine store, but if I had a little girl I'd bring her to Lego! read more

I absolutely love this store. We have been visiting this store twice a month ever since my 4 year old decided that he was "into" Legos. The staff here is excellent. I learned a lot about the history of Legos from their store manager. I did not realize that the Lego Discovery Center that we recently visited was not owned by the Lego Corporation. That totally explains the difference that I immediately noticed in merchandising, retail prices, and selection. I also learned that working for the Lego Corporation is actually really fulfilling and that they really take care of their staff, a total bonus in my book. Their back wall is filled with circular windows full of assorted Lego bricks, gates, ladders, wheels, doors, windows, flowers, trees, etc. You can fill either a pint or a quart container for either $7.99 or $14.99. They charged $21.00 a pound at the Discovery store! You can also build a set of 3 mini figs for only $9.99. You choose the head, body, hat, and tool. They also have tons of areas where kids can build and use their imagination. We did not feel at all rushed, we were encouraged to stay and play. Even grown ups can have fun in this store. They had quite a few sets that my husband and I lusted after. They even have Lego silicone cake pans, ice molds, banks and sets where you can build and display at your office such as the Seattle Space Needle or the Sears Tower. I definitely recommend shopping at any of the Lego Corporate owned stores. It's fun, and it won't break the bank! read more

This review is mostly a shout out to the great employees at this specific Lego location. For weeks, I was trying to procure a popular Lego item as a Christmas gift, with little luck. I called all of the Lego Stores in the Chicago-land area, and this location was the only one that offered to take down my name and call me when the item came in. A few weeks later, a message was left on my voice mail from this Lego store saying that the item was going to come in next week. One, I was impressed that they did fulfill their promise of calling me back. Two, I liked how they didn't mention the specific item on voice mail, just in case the gift-receiver were to hear the message. All of the other Lego stores that I reached out to pretty much shut me down, telling me there was no way I'd get that item by Christmas. Everyone at this location who spoke with me was extremely nice and very willing to help me find the popular item. Thank you so much to the great employees at this store. read more

The best place ever! It's lego!! Super awesome store. Extremely clean. Fun little stations for smaller and larger kids to play! They carry some of the hard to find sets and always love to come for mini fig series release days to get all the new minis we need!! Every staff member goes above and beyond and is super friendly no matter how busy! Excellent place to go play, check out some cool sets you want to buy, get a present, buy your sweetheart that special something, and just an overall cool store! read more

Having been into lego bricks myself when I was a kid, and now having two little lego fans, this place is a must-go. The staff was very friendly here. As you can imagine, the lego kits are not cheap. But I do love the idea of having a huge lego wall where you can scoop up a bucket of spare parts for under $10 to replace all those teeny-tiny ones that got vacuumed up around the house. read more

This store immediately makes you feel like a kid again. My first time there I came to pick up a birthday present for my nephew and ended up picking up a little VW van for myself.
