We always have a really fun time at the LEGO Discovery Center in Springfield Town Center! It's a great spot for kids since it's very interactive and packed with a variety of activities to keep them engaged. From building stations to interactive rides and play zones, there's plenty to do and explore, especially for younger LEGO fans. The space is colorful, energetic, and well-designed for kids to use their imagination and burn off some energy. Staff were friendly and the experience felt well-organized overall. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 mainly because it can get pretty crowded at times, and some areas felt a bit rushed when it was busy. We visited the LEGO Discovery Center as a way to get out of the house on a cold Saturday. Unfortunately, the experience didn't feel worth the cost -- $98 for two adults and one child. The front desk staff who sold us our tickets were not very friendly, and although we saw a couple of staff members inside, they didn't engage with guests at all. When you asked questions they acted like we were bothering them. I had read online that this was a good place for toddlers, but we didn't even stay for an hour. The toddler Duplo area was small and many of the pieces were missing, which made it hard for kids to really play. The ride was also a bit scary for our 3-year-old. We didn't experience the movie or Bank game (both geared towards an older age). There was a small indoor play area, but it also seemed better suited for slightly older kids. My son stayed on that for 5 minutes since we couldn't guide him through (children only). Overall, I think this attraction would be much more enjoyable for kids around ages 5-7. We had so much fun at Lego Discovery Center! I loved the layout of the place, there are different areas and stations for all ages. The Duplo Park is where we hung out the most since my niece is 2. There's a really cute Lego Dino carousel she loved. She also liked the big Lego building area. The Lego village layout was amazing!!!! I loved the master class and the Giant minifig Lego guy that came out to take pictures with. We spent a good 3 hours there. The train ride was a blast . We rode this ride like 3 times! Oh boy, review 4,200. And what a place to review. Make it easy on yourself, buy your entrance tickets and addons before you come here. It will make it all easier on you and you will get a QR code that will give your entrance and all your extras. Something to note, you will have to have a child with you to enter here. No adults allowed without a child, so if this is on your list to do, plan accordingly. Also to note, there is a store connected to this to extend your visit. Once inside you are free to go about and do whatever you want to do. Certain areas are timed, so you need to be mindful of that. This is a fun spot to visit with the many different things to do in one space. But before you go about the space, stop and make a Lego person to take with you throughout the space. You can make it look however you want, but attempt to make it look like yourself. When my nephew and I entered we made out way to the dark ride first. There was no line at the time which made for and easy on. The ride is fun and glides from area to area. All the while, you are tasked with shooting from your wand to help the mission and earn points. Somehow, my nephew was better at this than me and annihilated me in points. Another area you need to time is the 4D theater. There are shows constantly but they rotate which one is showing. My nephew wanted to see the city one and we had a bit to wait for that showing. With that, we visited the snack bar area. A bit pricy, and limited, but you have to realize you are in a mall and have other choices, but if you are thirsty, this is your best bet. I mean aside from the water fountains...but yikes. The 4D theater was fun to experience. Bringing you into the movie. The glasses making the characters in your face, the wind/fog effect made you feel like you were there, and if you don't want to be sprayed, sit in the area where you won't get hit by it. As far as the rest of the area, it's like one big daycare. You'll have to be careful where you are walking because kids are everywhere. The biggest highlight here, to me at least, was the mega build display they have. That thing was awesome. Being in the DMV you will notice the DC area within it. The White House, Capitol, Washington Monument were all amazing to see. Be sure to stand in place and take it in, there are moving parts and some interactive spots (baseball park, hot air balloons, jackhammer to name a few). My favorite part, and it took me a minute to realize this, was the subway. The way they added the Metro into this is amazing. Be sure to look down while checking out the display as there are several Metro stops. All in all, it was fun. But I leave you with this. Be sure to take whatever precautions you need to when you come here to combat illnesses. I felt fine when I came here, took everything I could to shield myself, but I ended up getting a virus that has taken me out for nearly two weeks. So, wear a mask, wash your hands, use the hand sanitizer that is everywhere, and whatever else you think might help. I wish I would have done more. read more

We had a good time but definitely won't be back. It was something fun to do once but glad I only spent $20 on it. They need to replenish their legos. It was about half of what I would expect for a build place. The space game is fun but hard for the kids to understand what to do. I wish they had at least a couple rocket build ideas so the kids could see how the pieces fit together to build what they wanted or had less custom pieces. Same with the car section. Hardly any wheels available to build with so the kids were scrounging. My boys have built cars before so they were able to put it together but for the kids that haven't they were getting pretty frustrated. There were workers walking around but none offered assistance. Again, it'd be great to have pics of how to build the wheels. The ramps etc to race the cars on were amazing! The kids enjoyed the lazer maze, 4D theatre and the ride. We watched all 3 shows and had a blast. Even though one of them only showed the movie with the lights on and no effects, they had it fixed for the next movie. The middle section with the pre-built DC was closed. So, that took out another chunk. I love visiting this place with my nephews and nieces. Honestly, I think I have more fun than they do! It's an absolute gem for LEGO lovers of any age. We always go during the week in the morning, and it's wonderfully quiet, giving the kids plenty of space to explore, build, and use their creativity and independence without any crowds. There's so much to do here. They have a fun little movie theater with 4D effects, a mini train ride where you use lasers to "shoot" targets and snap photos along the way, and even laser maze where you can channel your inner ninja and try to weave through the beams. It's impossible not to laugh and have a great time. One of my favorite parts is watching the LEGO experts build incredible creations WITHOUT any instruction manuals and getting to talk to them about their process. Their creativity is amazing and so inspiring. If you are looking for a hands-on, imagination-packed outing, this place is a must-visit. I think this place is worth it if you buy the membership. But not sure if it's worth the price for just one visit. I think it's best suited for kids 6+, not a ton to do for smaller kids and some of the games and stations are hard to understand/play with for smaller kids. Some of the movies are pretty scary for smaller kids, I think they should add a disclaimer. We had to walk out of a couple of them. The place is already dirty and a bit unkept. We had a great time here! We went on a Saturday afternoon and even though there were two birthday parties happening, it didn't feel super crowded inside. Its a lot of fun for kids of all ages. There is a big playset in the back for climbing and jumping and what not, a small theater to watch a short lego movie, a duplo area with the mega block for smaller tots, an interactive ride, and bunches of little places to build lego things and crash and smash them. Do not buy the more expensive ticket. It comes with one build and a photo package. The build is literally one of the bag kits you get from Target or Walmart. And i want to be clear it is that exact same bag you buy from the store, there is no change to it whatsoever getting it as part of your ticket. The photos part of it is ridiculous too. Basically, you get a card with a QR code and at like three places throughout the center you can take a photo at a photobooth, scan that code and at the end you can download them to your phone with Lego related borders on them. Save your money and just use your phone. There aren't enough spots to take photos, nor is getting that border worth the extra cash. They have a cafe inside, but its the saddest thing I've ever seen. It looked like it was going out of business, just cheesesticks, animal crackers, fruit cups (like a dole fruit cup in juice), and chips were on display. You can order pizza or nachos, but honestly you should either eat first/after or bring your own snacks. The area is small, but somehow we still managed to spend about 2.5 hours there. Overall, a great experience, the staff were super friendly, I actually lost my first card with the QR for the pictures and they were kind enough to give me another. They have one of the ninjago characters walking around and they were really great about interacting with both kids and parents. If you're looking for a local spot to take your kids , this is a great option. read more

We were able to get tickets to adult night, the Christmas themed night. While it was fun, it could have been organized better. Adults can be like children and not pay attention to who is around them so it was hard to maneuver and walk around in a small space with a bunch of adults while I'm sure with smaller children they have more space. It seemed like legos aren't regularly deep cleaned as I used my own wipes and washed my hands frequently because some legos had food and other questionable things in them. There was trivia, build spaceship, Lazer maze, and 4d movies outside of the building stations and that was a nice concept. I wish there had been better traffic control from the staff in terms of working on crowd control so there was more flow and less congestion. I also wish there had been clearer time calls for when things were ending throughout the night. Overall, it was cool to experience as we've never been since we don't have a child to borrow. If there's more structure, I'm willing to go again. We didn't get to keep the Legos we made to look like us but mine didn't look like me really so I'd love more skin ton options to be had even though I understand these are Legos. A mid week day off school was the perfect opportunity to bring the kiddos here to the Lego Discovery Center. It's closest to the central/main entrance of Springfield Town Center. You'll know where to enter by the huge Lego giraffe outside! This place is pretty awesome, your first step is to build a mini figure to take around with you. My boys (age 5 & 10) took their time and were already having a great time just putting them together. They were then completely stunned walking into the main room. There's so much to do! Highlights: - the ride was fun for the whole family, you ride through some scenery and then use magic wands to get points by zapping different items on screen. - Legos everywhere and different obstacles to play on. My 5 year old loved the shaking duplo table that simulates an earthquake while you build a building. The 10-year-old love creating a car to go down the volcano loops. - the space station where you can build a rocket out of Legos, then get it scanned into a virtual game. - 4D movies - you get wet! - a laser maze - a playground / duplo area for the 5 and unders. For me, mini world was amazing. As an adult this was my favorite part, just walking around and looking at all the details of the different sections and realizing how much talent and effort it took to put all this together. Every area you look has more detail than you originally think. I even found a rooftop rave! I highly recommend checking this place out with the kiddos. FYI: Groupon and T-Mobile offer discounted tickets. Notes: The digital photos they sell are pricey and not the greatest quality $20 a pop. The are mostly green screen type photos with you over a digital background. A cute souvenir is to bring your minifigure to the different photo stations where you can get different digital frames (this part is included - no additional charge) Have fun! read more

Cute experience for our young children (6 yrs and under). It was a lot for them to do, it took us about an 1-1/2 hrs to partake of all the activities except the movie and work shop. I highly recommend doing so as they may sell out of tickets if you try to purchase them the day of. Employees are all very welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, kind, and patient. This place is amazing! So much to do, see, explore, and learn. The kids (and adults) had a wonderful time. Everything is well organized and stations are all clean. I went on a Monday morning with my son. From the start, things seemed off. The Minifigure Creator area where you build a Lego figure had no legs for the bodies! Just a strange white brick that my kid called a "skirt". The "Hook a Duck" in the Duplo Park (where you were supposed to fish for ducks) had no ducks. There were no books on the bookshelf area and when we were waiting for the 4D movie to start, I had to go find an employee to actually open the theater. Makes us wonder whether they're about to close down. Overall, I wouldn't waste my money and time on this place again. read more

When my baby grows up, I'm gonna tell him this was Legoland. For a mall event this is actually a lot of room and a ton of stuff to do even for a one-year-old. Per their description it is a 32,000-square-foot family attraction features 12 zones to discover, including DUPLO® Park, Building Adventure, Mini World, Imagination Express, Make Your Mini-Figure, Creative Club, Lego Tree of Imagination, The Lego Café, Heroes Adventure, 4D Cinema, The Workshop, and Space Mission. My son spent a good two hours in the duplo room building and on the slides and rides. Meanwhile I was trying to figure how to build a Lego car to race. So you can say they have something for all ages. They also show Lego movies in 4d, have workshops, and have an indoor soft zone to play in for those over 3feet tall which is shoe free so bring socks. They also have an impressive Lego exhibit with the DC monuments and national's stadiums . I would say the optimal ages to go to experience everything is about 7-40. You can build your own figures, rockets and cars as well. Admission was about $28 for adults, I think for what you can pay for indoor playgrounds this is well worth it. read more

The place is a lot less crowded a couple days after X-mas. The workshop project this month is a Gingerbread project which looks super easy and would be appreciated by younger kids more than older kids. We enjoyed riding an internal electric train ride with its video game like feature. The movies are good if one has not seen them before but since they appear to be a year old.... I personally hope, the parent company gets around to doing a content refresh. The indoor padded gym has been closed for a couple of months. Hope this gets repaired or renovated soon. read more

10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Our tix were for 4pm but they allowed us to enter at 3:10 and we stayed till closing at 6pm. There are so many things to do here. When you enter you will receive your collectible and begin making a lego person. Everything you need is separated, making it easy to find. There are several attractions +4D movies play every 30 minutes and last about 15 minute each, (my favorite) The realistic visuals with the 3D glasses, fog, and raindrop let's coming out the ceiling were super fun. Kids and adults both will enjoy this. +Workshop happens every hour with a master builder who was super nice and engaging with everyone, he gave our group a challenge to build something they were looking forward to. + "Roller Coaster" as my child called it was short but cute, inside you will play a few games as you ride through and use the wand. +Multiple Lego areas where you can build cars and drive them down ramps etc +Laser room is small but fun, again..we had adults and kids go at the same time +Play area is built similar to the old "fast food" play centers..with a slide & climbing wall (Kids MUST have socks to go inside) +There is an additional area where you create an aircraft and upload it to play a game on a big screen +There is also a section for arts & crafts..we didn't have time to make it to this area in the 3 hours we spent inside! ++ A cafe inside, just in case you get hungry There is really soo much to do here. Came here with my 7 year old nephew and 2 year old niece and they had a ball! As a longtime Lego lover, I too, had a ball lol. The lil Lego person they let you build at the beginning was a cool keepsake to have after the experience. The babies really enjoyed all the interactive building stations, the favorite being the car build/racing areas. We also really liked the ride, felt like we were at a real theme park! The favorite for the group was probably the 3D movie; the animation and inclusion of real stuff (water, heat, air etc!) were so exciting for the children. Located inside Springfield Town Center, the Lego Discovery Center is a must-try activity if you have kiddos. We did the admission and collectible for $34.99/each. The littlest child in our group (20 months) enjoyed the Duplo land, especially the slide and the Dino carousel. The middle (a 5 year old) liked the 4-D movies; however, with the timing of the shows we were only able to watch two unique ones, ninjago and the police chase. Be prepared to get sprayed with water. The oldest child (age 10) liked the bank laser game. Another highlight was the ride with the shooting game. There is a soft play area too but it gets wild. I, personally, really enjoyed the mini Washington DC, particularly the monuments and landmarks. My son loved the Nats pinball but it stopped working. He also liked the interactive driller in that area. There is also a cafe that serves smoothies, burgers, and other snacks. I love legos! I like the discovery center because of the lego models they built. The details in the buildings are amazing! It's an interactive experience for kids, but only for young kids in my opinion. Some older kids may get bored immediately. They have a trackless ride where you aim at targets to get points. It's basic. There's a lot of Lego building areas but you have to use your imagination to make something because it's a big pile of different legos everywhere. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the 4D movie. read more

I passed by this place the last time that I was in the town center, and this time we brought our three-year-old to this store. This place has lego kits for all ages and interests. My kid was gravitating to the Creator Series , and they had a another of options here as well. I liked the Marvel and Harry Potter section for myself. I had no idea that this place was so amazing, and its not exclusively for kids either. I almost purchased the Avenger box which is rated for young adults 18+, and it includes 5200 pieces. If I wasn't so busy already with video games, I would have purchased it. The Lego Technic kit also looked pretty cool, and once built, its operational like a real model crane. It costs $700 so there's nothing child-like about the crane kit. This place was a lot of fun, and its definitely popular. read more

I couldn't rate the Lego Discovery Center at Springfield any less than a 5, given the joy on my kids' faces upon their first visit. It's not a huge space but there is a lot to keep little builders busy for hours -- copious building stations, some with ramps for sending creations flying, some integrated with virtual components like the space station launch/video game. There are also multiple play spaces (a Duplo room for younger guests, a padded obstacle course for older kids), a "4-D" theater, a small cafe (not a huge menu but decently priced and who needs more decisions in the day?), one ride (a fairly short winding ride that lets you aim and click a wand at various targets along the way to compete for points), and a mini world exhibit that I could spend hours poring over. You get to build a little mini figure upon entry and bring it around to little photo booths. We haven't yet checked out the workshops or creative club spaces. No major complaints -- it does get busy/crowded on weekends, and in my opinion is best for a 5+ crowd. You can bring younger kids and find enough to occupy them if they're tagging along with older siblings, but if I were to bring a 3-year old alone I think we'd run out of things to do pretty quickly. If you have Lego fanatics in the family, consider an annual pass -- holders don't have to reserve a time in advance, can leave and come back during their visit, and also get a cafe and store discount. The discount wasn't working / set up for the attached Lego store in late August when we first went, but was fixed by September. The store still wasn't able to take Lego VIP / Insiders though, so hopefully that's also been fixed since then, since you know you're bound to be "persuaded" by your kids to pick up yet another Lego set. All the staff members were very friendly and able to maintain their composure amongst frenzied crowds of excited kids -- all in all, well worth a visit! read more

Been visiting Legoland and another Lego Discovery Center for 8 years but DC was bad. The facility is dark, cramped, and poorly stocked with Legos. For example, there are several places to build race cars but almost no wheels for cars. Many of the attractions also do not work: they have a common theme of making a minifig and using it to interact, but none of these exhibits work. read more

Just went to the grand opening of The Lego Discovery Center, all I can say is that it was a great time. There is so much to do inside for every age group. When you enter you start by creating your own mini-figure and take a picture to add to your memories. Then you walk through the lego figure opening to a lego filled room. We started with the build stations and tried all the ramps. Then we checked out all the different builds, off to the obstical course and then the attempted to beat the laser maze. We took a breather by catching some a 4D movie then hit the interactive train ride. Mini meal break, we got the chicken sandwich with chips and a drink. The off to the Duplo area, where a mini fort was built, went fishing for ducks and rode a dinosaur. We ended with another 4D movie and another lap in the obstical course. This was such a fun experience and we can't wait to come back. read more

Kids had ample time to experience everything the center had to offer. There was plenty of staff around and they were all friendly and helpful. Activities were fun, but limited. Mini land is very impressive. But the volume of the music playing in the center was deafeningly loud. I took an autistic student here on a field trip and we lasted about 30 minutes before we needed to leave to find a space that was quiet. I couldn't hear my student's voice over the music and could barely hear my own voice. Lego as a brand has been really accommodating towards neurodivergent individuals and I would love if they considered sensory friendly hours for the discovery center too. read more
