I called up Move Assist, Mark the owner answered the phone, I gave him the general amount of furniture and other stuff we wanted to move the date and they have quotes on their website so you can get an idea of the prices. Plus you can provide the truck or they can. They arrived, surveyed the apartment and got to work, how they managed to fit everything into that truck I will never know but they did! And really fast too! They made sure to wrap up out delicate furniture and make sure our glass doors were safe. Brought our stuff up to the 2nd floor (at no extra charge!) and put it just where we wanted it. They were a third of the cost of a large moving company!! They also denied using my microwave and leaving splatter from beans all over inside. Additionally, two large antique mirrors were not boxed. Did they really think their employees would admit to doing the damage? I have folks who had seen this item previously and can testify that the photos are exact. And the lack of holders for the shelves. And folks who can testify to the mess left by their beans in my microwave.

Here are the issues I experienced during the move with Father & Son's: -Property damage: There were gouges and scratches made in our hardwood floors during unloading. -Exterior damage: Their vehicle ran over and broke one of our driveway lights upon arrival. -Truck transfer: The company did not disclose in advance that our belongings were transferred between trucks during transit. -Insufficient staffing and equipment: The team arrived without proper moving equipment (no dollies, no lifting gear, Martin was wearing Crocs) and was unable to move our bed to the second floor. We had to hire another company after the move to complete this. In addition, the crew handed items to us to carry inside, which is unusual for a professional moving service. -Insurance issues: We are now working with their insurance regarding the damage, and learned that the coverage does not include the full-value protection described at the time of booking. -Late Arrival: Martin and his crew were an hour late to load the truck Overall, the service provided fell below expectations for a professional long-distance move. These other people who are saying he isn't nice must have been a**holes to him first because he is literally the nicest person ever but I wouldn't blame him for standing up for himself if people were being rude to him and his crew. Moving is stressful for everyone and of course as a client we are worried about our things and the costs of everything but it's no reason to be rude to the people who are literally making the move happen. Yes, with any moving company there are fees that come up and in order for them to move your stuff without breaking it, they will use tape and plastic wrap that THEY purchase to ensure your things don't get damaged and then they add the cost to your bill, just like ANY OTHER MOVING COMPANY. They also give you the option to supply your own tape and plastic wrap so you won't get extra fees added. All in all, AMO is a great company and I refer them to everyone.

I'm gonna say that again, an entire one bedroom apartment worth of furniture on an 8" flatbed truck from Home Depot from TWO different storage locations 20 minutes apart, then another 20 minutes to my new place, all within 2 hours. And they did it with confidence, professionalism, and positivity, without stressing at all. Unbelievable. I was worried I would have to wait until next Saturday to move in, but Windy City Movers made it happen. I cannot say enough good things about them.

This review isn't so much about the men who picked up and delivered our items (they were great) but…read moreabout the management and owner of the company. We were moving from Illinois to South Carolina. We closed on the house on June 29th and notified Maria of this. Because we are moving so far, we asked them to give us a 4-5 day notice so we had time to get there, get hotel rooms along the way, in order to make sure we would be at the new house. We put down July 4th as our first available date. We heard nothing from the Moving Crew so we started calling asking for not a specific delivery date but for which week they were planning on coming so we could make arrangements on our part. Anything of value, such as jewelry and keepsakes, we moved ourselves but needed to rent a U Haul to get everything to SC which was another reason we needed a little advance notice. Despite numerous calls, Maria was unable to help. The Moving Crew had until July 16th to get our stuff to us per our contract. Finally, that week we headed down, secured hotel rooms on the way as well as a hotel to stay in at the new location. We kept being told that they had no information and Maria would call us back. She never did, despite several promises to do so on their end. On Tuesday, July 14th, we called again and were told that they were going to pack the truck on Wednesday and would call us to let us know if they would be here Thursday or Friday of that week. No one called as was the norm evidentally. On Wednesday, we reached out again and Maria said that the driver was suppose to have called us which of course he didn't. Because we were given the impression that Friday was the most liely delivery date, we had to extend our hotel stay one more day. At 5:30pm that same Wednesday, we received a call from the driver saying that they would be there in an hour! We rushed over there and the 2 men arrived at 6:30. We suggested that they unload the following morning but they wanted to do it that night which went well past midnight. I've heard of people moving out in the middle of the night but not moving in. The driver also told us that this was an unexpected trip for him as he was scheduled to make a delivery to Texas but was told to deliver our items instead. All of our boxes were marked as to what room to put them in, but as the time got later and later, boxed were just put anywhere. In addition, Moving Crew combined small boxes into large moving boxes of their own so items items were all mixed up. It took 5 days to find our silverware for example. Then, there were a few damaged items but 2 large ladders were missing. Again, we called Maria on Thursday, July 16th and informed her of the missing items, She said she would check with the driver and call us back. Well, it's been a week and we have heard nothing. We are working on filing an insurance claim with Safe Ship which I also do not recommend. I hate leaving negative reviews but we paid over $10,000 for this move but when you cannot have a call returned or dates narrowed down, I had no choice. Their customer service was terrible. I would have rated them one star but the men who picked up our items were very careful & efficient. I also didn't like that the head of the crew at pick-up, when we gave them a tip, asked us to put down a smaller amount on the document, I'm assuming for tax purposes. Maybe Maria thinks we only gave them $100 and that's why we couldn't get any assistance? I have no idea.
