We stopped in for drinks and dinner while staying nearby, mostly because it was within walking distance of the hotel. The drink specials were good, and honestly the drinks made the Walmart run before dinner a little more tolerable. We came back later for dinner, and the food was fine. I had the Kickin' Raspberry Chicken for $14.99, which was a grilled chicken sandwich with Jamaican jerk seasoning, grilled pineapple, ghost pepper cheese, and raspberry sauce on ciabatta. It was good, messy, and that ghost pepper cheese definitely had some fire to it. I liked it. I honestly do not remember what Kim had, but not because it was bad -- just because the meal overall was not especially memorable. The bigger issue was the service. Our server seemed like she was ready to be somewhere else, and that threw off the vibe for us. Nothing was bad enough to complain about, but it was just barely good enough not to. We probably should have stayed at the bar like we usually do, because the bar side seemed more fun and the bartender looked like UFC legend Chuck Liddell, which at least added some entertainment value. I would come back for the drinks, especially if I was staying nearby again. We were pleasantly surprised after reading previous reviews, to see that sometimes reviews don't tell the whole story. My sisters and I each ordered something different. I had the breaded tenderloin; one sister had the smothered chicken; and the other ordered a half cobb salad and a cup of the soup of the day--chicken noodle. 5-17-26 Lunch with family to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were seated in a booth by the bar, we had a 2 month old and a 3 year old with us. We arrived at Legends at 12:45, waited to be seated until 1:00, the waitress didn't our drink orders until 1:13. We ordered our food and waited 55 minutes to get our food. There were empty tables & booths everywhere, it wasn't that busy! Our waitress was also bartending, she was talking to the only two people at the bar the entire time, complaining about what a bad day she was having and swearing, out loud in front of us! The food looked and tasted terrible like I forced myself to finish it bad and I couldn't even finish it. Oh my where to start......the food was ok at best, but don't look up at the ceiling tiles. OMG.....the entire ceiling starting near the vents working out were covered in a black substance maybe dirt, grease or dust. I gave my attempt at Legend's Monster Burger Challenge. I had messaged them ahead to make sure there would be no issues since I had over an hour drive and got very good response from them and assured me there would be no problems. I arrived on a Saturday around 1:00 and there were only a couple groups of people eating so I got sat immediately and it was nice and quite. Since I knew what I was there for, I got my order in right away and the plates arrived probably within 10 minutes. The whole thing was obviously hot, but not burning, which was perfect. I got a quick rundown of the rules and they made sure I was all set. Everybody was super friendly and accommodating wi the extra drink and napkins I requested. Even offered me additional plates. (Unneeded) Food was all awesome, especially the crunchy onion rings. I'm fact my only complaint about the entire visit, was the excessive amount of sautéed onions, but I can't really complain about any in excess, kind of why I went. I finished the challenge in just over half the allotted time, and would definitely make a pitcher trip back. Maybe for something different, maybe just to try to be my own time. read more

It's a big place with a restaurant & bar side, definitely a sports bar feel. They have pitchers of beer which we always appreciate. The hostess was very rude & would not even acknowledge us when we spoke to her. The nachos are a big portion & nicely loaded. Chips were pretty dang salty (we must have gotten the bottom or the bag) but overall good appetizer. I got the charbroiled wings - Thai & Hot Garlic. Neither had any spice to them but they were decent. Mediocre I'd say. My husband got the Philly. Good portions but nothing to write home about. Overall, we'd come back for the beer. It consists of toasted sourdough bread topped with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, hand-breaded tenderloin, sautéed onions, 2 Angus beef patties, ham, crisp bacon, sliced pepperoni, melted Jack cheese, hand breaded onion rings and creamy melted queso. We ate here today.... Kinda wish we didn't. My husband ate there a few years ago said it was good. So I went in...reluctantly and now I know why! 1. EXTREMELY Dirty atmosphere 2. Server had some sort of psoriasis scabby stuff all over his arms. Maybe wear long sleeves or work in the back. I lost my appetite, it was not pleasing to see around my food/drink. 3. This happened in front of the waiter's eyes and he proceeded to place them back on the table and I told him they were dirty and he laughed and took them somewhere...let's hope to a hot sink! He even turned one of the channels so I could watch my favorite hockey team play. Host, a young kid was nice as well. 2) I had the riblets as an appetizer. At $6.99 I felt it was good value. 3) Catfish dinner are essentially catfish nuggets. The crab cake was about 2 1/2 inches in diameter on a huge ciabatta bun. For $12 that was a rip off. He smooshed it out to cover the bun then couldn't taste it. Food: I give it 3/5 stars the food was a bit greasy. I had the Avocado Chicken with a salad. My salad had an up charge which is ok but it had a little bit brown lettuce and it was small so I don't think it was worth the up-charge. My kids had pita pizza and corn dog bites. They ate it all so they were happy with their meal. Service: I give it 4/5 stars only b/c when we first came into the door nobody was at the front. Then I seen 2 employees just sitting there talking and laughing in a booth which is cool, but when I asked for help they kind of ignored me, which is not cool since I'm a paying customer. I enjoyed this place When you first walk inyou get a feel of a normal bar and grill that will meet your expectations, but nothing more. However, if you want to roll the dice and risk some fun this the place for you. The experience starts in the bathroom where the mix of clearness and good led zepplin fill your nostrils and leave you thinking of simpler times. The food is also superb. I had the succulent riblits, and I would say that I could not keep that riblit bone out of my mouth. I just had to keep coming back for more. I heard that the wings were pretty K as well. Well, I hadn't planned on writing this. I ordered a Texas burger on August 19th. The burger was way undercooked and the brisket on it was sub par. I should have known not to eat it, since it was so undercooked, but I did anyway, and now I'm paying the price. The reason I said I hadn't planned on writing this review is because I'd planned to call the restaurant to let them know, not wanting a refund or anything else for free. Just a heads up. The person I spoke to proceeded to tell me food borne illnesses take 24 hours to show up. Unless it's chicken. He mentioned some cleanliness certification and then told me he'd check it out. I guess I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't this. Maybe a "sorry about your luck" or something. Not a food Illness lecture. Our experience at this place has always been questionable at best. We came in with a large group (22 people) and had a very good meal. The menu is very large with something for everyone. I had the breaded tenderloin which was good and my wife had one of their steaks and it was cooked perfectly. Waitress at Applebee's told us to head over here if we were trying to watch the game because of the atmosphere. When we got here, the atmosphere was so quiet... not what we were expecting. We could hardly hear the game and the few people in the bar were very quiet. It was a Monday night, but a big game- I guess the Marshalltown peeps don't get out much on Mondays?
