Every visit reminds me of those times. Dad and gramps would've liked it here. You need to call ahead or go online and get in the queue. Walk-ins are welcome, of course; you will be waiting. For a reasonable $30 I had the sides tapered and trimmed the top. I have a half dozen cow licks to contend with, two extremely large ones. That doesn't phase these boys. The cuts always come out looking great and the banter in the shop is typically funny and careless. The best place to try out a new joke. I've seen Kyle and now Brian. Both were very professional and both excellent stylists. My next trip to this area will be right around trim time. Good for me. 03/25

You walk in and there is a TV playing whatever game is on and Michigan sports memorabilia covering the walls. You have a seat and are pretty quickly offered a cold beer. If that wasn't enough to make me feel at home, I was immediately included in the conversations with everyone about the upcoming college football season. Just a few minutes later I was called up for my haircut. The barber asked what I wanted and verified the lengths so there was no misunderstanding. The haircut was awesome and the conversations was fun. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a great haircut from a good neighborhood shop. The conversation, the care taken of ones hair, the beer, and the straight razor touch ups lend to the authenticity that makes this place really stand out.

I don't know how to describe what I wanted, so I took some photos with me and Steve was able to make my hair look just the same. I've been back to see Steve several times since then. I just got my hair cut by him yesterday when he mentioned he gets some reviews on Yelp. I thought I would help him out by adding my review here, too. I don't use tanning services, so I can't say anything about what Arm 'n' Anvil offers for that, but they do have a number of booths for it. As another reviewer noted, if you're going to Westgate just to visit Arm 'n' Anvil, it's much more convenient to park at the back and use their back entrance. IMPORTANT: Bring cash with you, because Arm 'n' Anvil accepts only cash for payment. They don't accept credit, debit, or any other kind of card. That may be somewhat inconvenient for the consumer, however, it lets the business keep their prices down because they don't need to pay card processing fees.
