Zolman's Best One Tire & Auto Care

I've been using Zolman's (a couple different locations) for our non-dealership out of warranty…read moreneeds for about 15 years. Now that our kids are teens, we've added a couple older vehicles to the family fleet and what I can't do myself gets done there. The prices are fair and they always seem knowledgeable. They could stand to be a bit less proactive though. I've seen them recommend brakes be done that lasted another 18 months and they seem to recommend expensive shocks/struts on anything over 100k miles when most will go well past 150k. Taking that into consideration, if you know you need something done like scheduled maintenance, they'll do it right and at a competitive price. They've even done a couple minor things for us and waived the charges completely.

I was out of town on business, and my daughter damaged the sidewall of a tire beyond repair. My…read morewife brought the car to Zoleman's with instructions to replace the damaged tire and the other worst tire on the car. Zoleman's simply looked at the tread on the tires, and replaced the one that was the lowest tread. While this tire was worn, certainly not to a point that I would have worried about replacing it. I know for a fact it was not the worst tire on the car because another tire had sidewall damage from the previous owner. Now I'm stuck needing to buy more new tires in the near future because they didn't take the time to PROPERLY inspect the tires. Or simply because they chose to take advantage of someone that didn't know better. Either way Derek and his techs have ensured that I never return to their store! They get 1 star because I can't give them zero.

I really wish I had better things to say about this shop. I came in with quite a lot of work I…read moreneeded done with my car: the heater was weak, several plastic under panels were missing, many other panels were dragging across the concrete, lock actuator broken, emblem missing, etc. Like I'm sure many others had, I saw the great reviews for this shop and figured I would give them a try because the shop I regularly go to was booked a few weeks out. After dropping the car off, I would call week after week and was almost never answered. I left many voicemails and was never called back except for 1 or 2 times. The times I did manage to speak with someone, they gave me some completely made up timeline such as "We will have an estimate in 1-2 days" or "we will be done by Monday." None of these deadlines were ever met. I ended up being stuck without my car for nearly 5 weeks without any idea of its status. I was frustrated, but accepting because I really did not mind them taking such a ridiculously long time if they were completely renewing the car by fixing/replacing everything that needed it. I even would have paid a bit extra as well. So, finally, after 5 weeks of missed calls, made up deadlines, and almost no communication at all, I go in to pick it up. I look at the car before I go inside. Almost nothing visible is fixed. After inquiring inside, they tell me that they needed some more parts, which shocked me. I couldn't help but wonder what they were doing the past 5 week. They're just telling me they need more parts now? When I come to pick it up? They were able to do the bare minimum that I asked for, which was fix the plastic panels that were dragging on the concrete, but I do not believe for a second that what they did should have taken 5 whole weeks. Another key point is that they claimed they could not replicate the problems I was having with my door lock actuator, but immediately after I drove off the lot, the constant clicking of the door locks started again. So, I wonder if these guys were just trying to avoid working on it. For what they did complete, the price would have been fair if not for the outrageous 5 week waiting period and lack of any communication. I am extremely disappointed. Expected a lot more from these guys given the great reviews. The only reason I am not giving them 1 star is because they did go beyond expectations by fabricating a custom connector to replace a sensor wire to avoid having the replace the entire harness. Other than that, I will not be going back, and don't recommend this business to anyone else either.

We got it from one of those huge sales they have at Walmart. The process was super easy and I left with it the same day. They are so nice there from the salesmen to the service center! Plus they always have coffee while you wait for the oil change. & popcorn too! The only issue I've ever had was when I called to find out how much it would cost to get brake pads and rotors done & the guy couldn't tell me. I asked him how much calipers were, to which he didn't know that either. So, I ended up taking it somewhere else to someone who did know what they were doing. The $50 fee just to look at it is kind of bogus though(Gates). The place I went to was free of charge. They always update my car fax which I've noticed Ireland road service never does! Even though it's slightly out of my way, I love coming here for service & it's worth the extra 15 minutes of driving!

I also found they took off the engine cover and never put it back on. All this took approximately 3 hours to do. I thought this dealer was a reputable one but found out the hard way they do not care about your taking car of business. Also they hire irresponsible ( Lacking a sense of responsibility, unreliable or untrustworthy or not liable to be called to account by a higher authority, workers. I will take my business to a more reputable business in the future.

Both time we had it tested at auto zone and had the print out with the codes and what was wrong with them. Zolman's charged us $130 each time to retest the codes to be sure that was what was wrong. Today I had the check engine light come on and had auto zone test it and was told I had a bad oil pressure switch. I went to Zolman's and told them I just wanted to buy the part and have it put on. They refused to do it without testing again. I told them i wasn't paying $130 for them to just to tell me what I already knew. Again i had the print out with what part I needed and the computer codes. They refused to touch the van unless I paid them $130 to do their own test. It's a scam. They use the exact same code reader that auto zone uses. You plug it in let it read the computer and then plug it into your pc to get the readouts. Takes less than 5 minutes but they want to charge you $130 to do that. I've never seen a mechanic that refuses to just put a part on if you specifically ask for the part by name and tell them not to do a computer check 1st. It's just an upcharge to get them more money. Took it to another garage and they were happy to fix it and not charge to retest something that didn't need retesting. So shop around if you don't want to waste an extra $130 for something any auto zone will do for free.
