Holiday pie line up
Judy R.

I consider Legacy Pie the best pie in the Denver metro area! The crust is delicious and flaky. My husband and I love the tart cherry hand pies, but we have many other favorites, such as the key lime pie, the French silk, apple, pumpkin, blueberry, and the chicken pot pie. Oh, forgot the mushroom pie! Today, I had an iced coffee with half & half, which was perfect, and I tried the egg and bacon hand pie. It was so good and very filling. I would consider us regulars at Legacy Pie's two locations. I love the look and feel of the Wash Park location, but I wish they had some seating. With such good coffee and breakfast items, it would be fun to go with friends or family. We always get our holiday pies at Wash Park because they have the best parking. The service has always been very friendly and accommodating. There is no better place for pie at this family-owned business with so much history.

Michigan is the home of the Montmorency cherry which has a delicious, firm, tart fruit--perfect for pies. "Great grandma" Katherine opened a roadside pie stand in 1929. Her children moved the pie company to Loveland in 1960 as Colorado Cherry Company. The next generation opened shops in Lyons and Estes Park. The great grandchildren expanded to Denver in 2020 as Legacy Pie Co. The original Montmorency cherry pie is still featured, although the menu has expanded to other fruits, cream, and savory pies plus cookies and scones. The pies come in Cutie (single serving), Mini (2-3 servings), and 10" sizes plus very generous hand pies. I'm a frequent flier at the original store on Tennyson Street, but I'd forgotten this location on Alameda Avenue had opened about a year ago until I saw the sign while visiting a neighboring business. This is a cute space with a large selection of the pies and other baked items. The bakery is in the back and everything is made fresh, from scratch. This business is also noted (in my mind) for delicious, bottled cherry juice. I noticed they have expanded this sideline to a number of varieties of cider. You can't beat the Montmorency cherry pie, in my view, but the many other offerings are also tasty. I do think these guys have a bit of a heavy hand with the crust--particularly on the fruit pies. The crust is well-made, but I'd prefer a bit thinner, lighter crust. Unlike Tennyson Street which offers drinks and has quite a bit of seating, this location is takeout only. This is a small shopping strip with only a few stores and a good-sized parking lot which is great since parking in the neighborhood is difficult.

Great looking pastry and execution! Chicken was seasoned perfectly, thick gravy on top that did not spill out everywhere or make the pastry soggy, and loved the herbs on top. Just picked up but staff were super friendly and informative. There is no seating inside so just keep in mind it is just to pick up/take out!

This spot just opened up on our way to school and we were excited for an after school snack. It is cute and clean on the inside but I was a little disappointed that there is no place to sit and share a pie! On to the pies- variety, flaky crust, savory or sweet- lots of options! We had the mixed berry and the bourbon apple- ooooh that topping was yummy! Both were delish! This is a local company so I always love to support a small business! They even have black bing cherry cider, which if you know- you Know, and if you don't, it's a Colorado think not to be missed! I used to have to drive to Estes Park to get that juice but now I can stop on the way to school, yay!

If you are looking for a place to get your pie fix, Legacy Pie is it! Run to get their Wild Maine Blueberry Pie. No one ever uses Maine blueberries, and they are so much better in a pie than regular ones. We have done the take and bake twice and they turned out delicious, and are so easy to bake. We tried cherry last time and that was great too. You can do mini pies as well, but if you want a few days worth of dessert, go for the larger size. Staff is always friendly as well, and very accommodating. Looking forward to the next visit!

I got an email a few days ago indicating they had Palisade Peach pies. I went by today. The full size 10 inch pie is $35, but mini's were $14 each. I got the Palisade Peach and the Tart Cherry mini's. My housemate ate 1/2 of the cherry pie. It had lots of cherries. I also got a blueberry packed scone for Sunday morning. Service was quick. The inside display counter and case was clean. They have 1 picnic table outside on the west side, but no inside seating.

Legacy Pie is delishhhh whether you are wanting sweet or savory. I have tried multiple of their items from breakfast hand pies, to mini pot pies, to dessert pot pies & a large chicken pot pie. They have all exceeded my desires. The crust is so delicious on all the pies. Would recommend if you want a quick hearty meal or a take and bake, home-y meal.

I had it saved but couldn't quite remember why...until we turned the corner and saw a line out the door around noon on a Sunday. Normally that might be a dealbreaker, but once we saw the food coming out, we were all in, it looked way too good to pass up. The menu is stacked: everything from sweet pastries to savory sandwiches and even pizzas on what looked like fresh, fluffy focaccia. I went with the prosciutto sandwich (prosciutto, cheese, pesto on focaccia), and it was incredible--simple, fresh, and packed with flavor. My girlfriend had the ham sandwich on a baguette, which was just as good. We were also tempted by the turkey and some seasonal options, so we'll definitely be back to try more. We couldn't leave without grabbing a couple pastries. The almond croissant was a hit (my girlfriend saved it for the next morning and loved it), and the standout for me was the cinnamon white chocolate cookie--kind of like a snickerdoodle but with white chocolate chips. Easily a top tier cookie. Between the quality, variety, and how clearly everything is made with care, this place jumped straight to the top of my list. Worth the wait, worth the hype, and absolutely worth a return trip.

I sure was one of them today as when I stepped in it was past 2pm. What I had in mind was (of course) all gone which forced me to go some alternative option. The vanilla custard bun was simply the right size for me (I not too long ago had just had my late breakfast so I was still quite full from it.) Perfectly brown on some of the custard on top. This Portuguese style dessert is a staple at any bakery or dessert shop. It's moist and yet the flaky out layers made the perfect sound as I bit into it. As of this writing, I haven't had the baguette yet but I can only imagine how delicious it would be (as the kind lady upfront was telling other customer that.) For a great business like GetRight's, I do the drive to get to it from my southeast Denver home. It's my utmost duty to support them.

I always look at photos of a baguette - the whole "figure" and how it looks when cut. I could find photos of the baguette, but none of the cross-section. The beef curry wrapped in dough, crusted in panko crumbs, and deep-fried was excellent. The curry itself had real flavor and zest, and the surrounding crust was delicious too. Somewhat small on the inside with a cute bar, a variety of both high and low top seating, and a bakery case for quick ordering near the entrance. We tried the hash, Benny, stuffed French toast, veggie omelet, sourdough baguette, macarons, croissants, and a pop tart. For the meals: - hash (corned beef is perfectly cooked and it's a nice sized portion with a runny poached egg on top and hollandaise over a crispy/well-seasoned Rösti - very good but a little on the heavy side for me) - benny (loved the flavors of this one and that duck confit was so flavorful and tender. Also, loved the bright, refreshing salad it comes with) - veggie omelet (I didn't try this one, but my brother in law said it was a great, traditional omelet - nice and cheesy) - stuffed French toast (WOWWWW - no notes. It was sublime. The passionfruit stuffing was to die for and it comes with a candied honeycomb. Not something I normally order, but we split it for the table and everyone wanted another one it was so good!) The sourdough baguette is perfect and has little flakes of sea salt on the crust.
