I ordered the Chicken Alfredo, expecting the $13.99 dish shown online with garlic toast and a decent portion in a ceramic dish. What I got was a tiny foil tray of random noodles drowned in so much mozzarella that it was mostly just a chewy ball of cheese with two burnt black breadsticks. It looked and tasted like a bad TV dinner. Never got the included side salad. The pizza was just okay- and cold. A little girl who seemed to be the server's kid maybe was sitting alone all night and was later handed the burnt breadsticks sent back from my plate to eat at the table next to us. Arcade machines blared randomly so loud (without anyone playing them) we couldn't even talk at times. This place used to be a favorite, but it's gone way downhill. Won't be back.

This is a really cool older building and I think there's a lot of potential for it to be a really neat gathering space as the brewery matures. It looks like they opened in 2020, so I'd love to see how they settle in and "find their voice" more, if you will. Not being much of a drinker, I had perused the menu ahead of time and thought I might try their ciders and sours. They offer flights in 3 or 6, but it doesn't change the price. (I always thought that was the idea behind a flight, like bundle and save lol.) I tried Bauer Sour, Coyote Verde, and A Little Prickly in the flight and a sip of the Kellyfish that my friend ordered. I was surprised that I liked all four, but my fave by far was the Coyote Verde. The prickly cider was much sweeter than I expected, reminding me of jolly rancher more than prickly pear, which was a little bit of a bummer for me because I expected to like it more. Bauer and Kellyfish were more subtle and refreshing, leaning more towards a beer-y taste than the other two. I also happen to be something of a pizza snob, so I'm always hesitant to try it at a brewery, especially now that wood-fired is so popular. While it wasn't my favorite ever, it wasn't bad. I stuck with a margherita because that's my usual gauge for new places. If/when I come back, I'd try the (blasphemous/Iowa famous) taco pizza that sounded oddly satisfying at the time. I got too comfortable though and ordered a dessert Nutella pizza...only to be disappointed when it came out covered in marshmallow. I should've clarified topping options for their desserts before diving in. My friend ordered the Sweetopia cheesecake and said it was delicious. Overall, a decent experience but not great. A solid case for half stars because 3 feels too low and 4 feels a bit too high. Cool small town spot and big points for live music from some of the best musicians in the area. The menu is small but ample, but keep in mind it is in a small town and I xan understand not wanting to have a huge inventory to go bad. Disappointing. Such a shame I was so excited to have Happy Joes again…read more I'm an area native and hadn't had Happy Joe's pizza in awhile. As in decades. There are no Happy Joes where I moved to after putting myself through school. I was super excited to order to go,, while back visiting the area and retirement house shopping. Phoned in order. Arrived at restaurant. They had made the order wrong (had put meat on a vegetarian pizza despite my double checking with the teenage girl on the phone I placed the order with "you understood no beef or sausage no meat at all".) No biggie. Things happen. No big deal. Paid for the pizza and had a seat and cheerfully occupied myself on my phone while they immediately remade the pizza (no apology, no offer of water, nothing) 20 minutes later the correct pizza was completed on the remake. Was handed the pizza by a teenage girl who thanked me and left. Then I walked to my car. As I was closing the car door a different teenage girl (thin, petite, brunette with glasses) ran up to my car shouting "excuse me was that pizza paid for" (her coworker had clearly handed me the pizza) This was too much. Getting a simple order wrong, having to wait for a remake, no apology, then a 16 year old running up to my car and basically accusing me of not paying for a silly pizza. I smiled sweetly and said "yes I had plenty of time to pay for a thirty dollar pizza since they got the order wrong the first time and had to remake it" She then said "oh" (no apology for the bizarre implication I hadn't paid for the pizza.) Very weird and bizarre situation. Very disappointing and although I'll be retiring back to the area, and Happy Joe's was a staple of my childhood, I won't be back.
