To say Discachios was a great staple in Coon Valley would be the truth. Years and years we were customers of Lou and his family. That being said the new occupants, Legacy, are a step above. Geoff and his crew have revitalized a location. The look alone when you enter is Classic. The mood is set with the decoration and the ambiance. Simple, yet comfortable. The back bar alone was the old back bar and it looks great refinished. Greeted by the friendly Leah and seated at the bar. The food selection looks amazing. I settled for a Blue cheese burger with homemade chips, accompanied by a Franziscaner Weiss. The beer was fresh and cold and the glass was clean and chilled. Everything from the plates are to the flooring was fresh and most of all CLEAN! The menu had a variety and very reasonably priced considering the freshness of the ingredients ( Geoff orders fresh meat from a local butcher shop on a every day or so basis. ) Nothing frozen here! The burger was amazing and I actually was embarrassed how fast I ate it. The homemade chips are exactly the perfect accompaniment to the burger and a nice option to the fries. I loved how the owner was on site and hand cooked your food to order. Classy! I will be back. I will invite friends and I will race about this place. I cannot wait to see what he has in store for Oktoberfest. read more

Germanfest was great. They are moving starting in October to the 2nd Saturday of the month. They start serving at 4 PM. They do not take reservations on Germanfest nights. Food was wonderful and the service and atmosphere was all enjoyable. read more

Maybe it's just me, but 40 minutes to wait for boneless wings at 8 pm is a tad ridiculous. It was wings Wednesday, but since they close at 9 pm there's really no excuse. Don't order a side of fries for $2.25 cuz you get 17. Had to send our wings back cuz they were room temp when served. If it wasn't for the fact they have "German Night" first Tuesday of each month I certainly would not plan a return visit. read more

I have eaten here numerous times. First time right was their 2nd night open the food was ok, but not what I expected, but since then they worked out their bugs. Since my first visit I haven't been disappointed! Their cheese curds are awesome. This is the only place I have every finished my serving of chips. The staff is always very friendly. I recommend Legacy to everyone good food and good portions. I love the Philly for lunch, but it is tough to pass off the country fried steak as well or a burger. I love calm chowder and theirs is great. I could go on and on about this place, but why not try it out for yourself? read more

It was sad to see Discachio's go, but as time goes on, things change. Legacy is a wonderful replacement to Discachio's! The food is delicious and the employees are friendly. I would definitely recommend eating here whether is is for a few drinks out with your friends or a family night out. My first time at Legacy in Coon Valley WI. It won't be the last as they were able to take 7 of us with no reservations and able to seat us in 10 minutes. The service was very good. The special was Pearch and clam chowder was the soup. I had both. Easily the best clam chowder I ever had. And I'm old! The pearch was very good. It is hard to find and get good pearch in West WI. Theirs was top notch. Others with us got steak and a chicken wrap and everyone thought it was great. Great change of pace. We will all return soon! read more

Last evening I led a group of H.O.G. Chapter members and guests on a supper ride. We elected to try this restaurant and was the first time for everyone. Thankfully we had a nice ride, because this place was a nightmare. Initial Impression: We were a group of 8. Two of us went in ahead of the rest of the group to get a table...and waited...and waited and waited. There were no signs to either seat yourself or wait to be seated. The servers saw us and didn't even acknowledge us. I eventually walked over to the server's station and politely asked if we could have the two tables of four next to each other for our group. I assumed he would come over to our table once we were all seated (2 minutes later after everyone was parked and in). Service: Our server couldn't be bothered with us. We ended up getting our own menus after watching him take orders from two tables that came in after us. A trip to the bar finally got him to come over and get drink orders (this is 10 minutes after we sat down). Drinks came back and our server disappeared. One member, who only had water, made the wise decision to leave before ordering. Another 10 minutes and orders were finally taken. Over an hour later, we still didn't have our food, the server had not come back once to check on us, refill drinks or apologize for the long wait. Another trip to the bar to speak to what was maybe a manager. I was obviously bothering her by expressing my concern. I worked as a bar manager for several years and I judge people on how they treat people they don't have to treat well. As such, I am always polite to those who serve and have to deal with the general public as they generally have to deal with difficult and demanding customers. I continued to be polite and indicated how log we had been waiting, the no refills on drinks and that one of our members (who only ordered water) and that this was a first impression for 8 people. I should also note that it wasn't a full house or a full bar. I said the group was simply going to pay for drinks and leave. A short trip to the kitchen and I was told our food was being plated up and that the delay was that they only had 2 fryers and a lot of people in the bar had ordered wings (but no one in our party had and I could only see 3 wing orders in the whole place). This isn't a big place! 12-16 total bar seats and 8-10 four top tables at most. For food that "was being plated and would be right out" it took another 10ish minutes. In fairness, the food was decent and hot. I didn't hear anyone in the group complain about the food quality. But here we are, over 2 hours later, and just finishing a meal. Afterthoughts: After returning to La Crosse and discussing it with the group over ice cream and coffee at The Pearl (A La Crosse, Wisconsin classic, 5 stars all day, every day), it seems that if they know you at Legacy, you get seated right away and faster service. Apparently a group out-of-towners isn't an important demographic to this establishment. I know what some of you are probably thinking - "group of bikers, rough crowd, probably rowdy, scared them away and so they ignored them" - but this is not the stereotypical biker crowd. Our group was all in clean, decent clothing, a few "Harley" logo items, but nothing offensive or profane. This group was diverse, but not loud and there was no profanity or anything to make us appear as anything other than a group of friends out for supper, which is what we were. This is the easily the 15th ride I've led this year between HOG and other groups, both in the La Crosse area and abroad. At no time, even at restaurants during the Sturgis 75th Rally, did we encounter service this poor and a staff cared less. The final insult was them crediting our drinks, most of which were fountain soda, because of the delay (the cost of a glass of fountain soda is less than a quarter). Avoid this place unless you are friends with the staff - it's not worth the wait. read more

This place is a gem in a small town, fantastic food, fantastic service, and great prices. I recommend the clam chowder, fish fry, or smoked pork chop. I've never had even an average meal here, all have been excellent. read more

Stopped on our way back home. Great appetizer onion rings. I had a wonderful cup of home-made Clam Chowder. Main meal: my wife's order was bacon cheeseburger. She cut it in half (because the portion was huge). The burger was underdone and dripping blood. Immediately sent back. Instead of replacing burger they placed burger back on grill and steamed it. Sent it back out (same plate, same side of fries). No blood now, still red in middle. Bottom of bun soggy so it has to be cut up into pieces with knife to eat. She ate 3 bites and didn't enjoy it. Complained to Manager and it was stated "this is how they recook un-done meat. They "steam" it. So when the burger with the melted cheese and bacon on top is steamed and placed back on the bottom bun all that steam and liquid soaks right into the bottom bun. WHAT? What happened to re-doing the burger? If we ever go back its to only have appetizers. At least they can't screw that up. Not impressed. Not planning on going back. read more
