We drive from Atlanta to Birmingham to see the Queens: Gladys Knight, Stephanie Mills, Patti Labelle and Chaka Khan. We purchased parking in the Purple Lot ahead of time. Best decision ever. We literally parked and walked across the street to the venue. The crowd was elderly but that was to be expected because of who was on the show. Big kudos to the contractors who made sure there was plenty of benches in front of the arena. You almost never see that for these places. We went through security very quickly although there was a thousands of people coming through the gates. As soon as you walk in you can identify where you will be sitting. I had to take an up escalator to my section. I was sitting in Section 129 Row V. Handicap seating. Best seating in the house. No one is sitting in front of you and you are able to stretch your legs. Very comfortable. The ushers were on the job. Concessions was quick and easy and affordable. The only down side is the sound was trash in the beginning but they got it together very soon. It was super easy to get to Legacy arena on a Sunday afternoon. We prepaid for parking about 0.6 miles south which was $20 cheaper than next to the arena. My son told me it was built in 2021 and it is a clean and spacious facility. I thought the view from the seats was good and it was easy to get out of the arena when the game ended. The only thing that would make the arena better is if our team did not lose by 1 point to the number one team in the country. read more

The Legacy Arena finally updated after yearssssss. I have had zero interest in attending anything here again until the NCAA Women's Tournament this year. There's no way I was missing Dawn Staley specifically while she and her team were here. Everything flowed from parking, getting in, concessions/beer portables, to getting out. Much more organized than I remember. Who knows. Maybe I'll return for something else or maybe I won't. read more

My family and I attended the CM Newton Classic between Alabama Crimson Tide vs Liberty Flames. We had no major issues doing our visit. Although the workers at the concession area were a bit incompetent. This was the biggest knock for me because how hard is it to get popcorn and a fountain coke correct?! Goodness! Unfortunately, most of the staffers gave off the "I'm ready to go" vibe or the "I'm just here to get a check" vibe. This is the most I've been to Legacy arena and I really like the updates/ enhancements made to the facility. Hopefully the next time I'm here, the service will be more up to my standards. Wow, the Legacy Arena has been around for a minute! It opened in 1976 as the BJCC and can seat up to 16,250 for concerts. The late great John Denver performed the first concert at the BJCC coliseum (known today as the Legacy Arena) on Sept. 28, 1976! Growing up, the BJCC was a big entertainment destination because few and far between were the "great" entertainment acts who visited my hometown of Huntsville, AL. Over the years, I've seen lots of great acts at the BJCC, including Van Halen [pre Van Hagar days] numerous times starting in August 1981, the legendary The Who on November 30, 1982, Kid Rock numerous times, and attended an excellent Alanis Morisette show here! It's nice to have the Uptown Entertainment District nearby and the extensive modernization of the arena in 2020 enhanced the lighting and sound systems, concessions, and amenities for artists. The legacy arena is a great place to gather in Bham!My sister and I attended an event here and had a blast. The ticketing process was smooth and easy, we were inside and cozy in minutes. We ordered nachos, hotdogs, and drinks from the concession area and enjoyed it. The atmosphere was fun and lively! Looking forward to making more memories here. read more

I've been to the Legacy Arena multiple times over the last couple months. My family and I have been supporting the Birmingham Squadron, which is our new NBA G League team. It's very exciting to see the players. Some of them I recognize from their college careers and some from their NBA careers. If you're in Birmingham or the surrounding areas and love basketball, get to a game! It's a really fun time! The Legacy Arena looks good! It definitely gives NBA vibes. It's easy to navigate and all the employees I have encountered thus far have been nice. The only thing I am not impressed with is the food. It was underwhelming. I hope they will look into getting some of the great restaurants in Birmingham to be food vendors. I can just imagine myself enjoying a game with some food from Eugene's hot chicken or some place like that. I love supporting the Birmingham Squadron so I'll definitely be back! read more

I came to attend a special church service on a Sunday. The food stands & what not weren't open so I can't rate them. The building itself was fine though. There was performances (the sound system was great) and the seats weren't cramped. I wouldn't mind attending Legacy Arena again. Overall I had a good experience. read more

Came here for the SEC gymnastics championships. GEAUX TIGERS!!! The arena is Spacious and clean. For me and my hubby being in the tall side the seating leg room is tight. That's my only complaint. Bathrooms have a lot of stalls and seemed to be kept pretty clean. read more

One thing that keeps it from being five stars: When you're having a performance, particularly someone like a comedian, can your janitors or food service or whoever stop rolling massive bins of whatever through the concourse in the middle of the performance? Nice venue since the renovation! Easy entry and exit. Bathroom are clean and have higher capacity. Seats are nice and provide good views for the events. They have a lot of concessions, but have a poor process of running them, being a cashless venue slows things down, they don't have ample people running transactions which slows the line down. read more

I was very impressed tonight to see how well maintained and clean this place was. I also appreciate that they had the mask-mandate required. We were able to visit tonight to see the Birmingham Squadron team. Although they didn't win, I was really impressed with the overall experience. The food was typical 'ball park' food. Not fantastic, but okay for the occasion. The bathrooms I went in were spotless, and there were cleaning crew everywhere. I was super pleased to see how clean they maintained it with an event having over 2000 people. The game was over all very fun, it was not too crowded, and I felt I could finally enjoy a night out with my family. Everyone I also encountered during multiple food and snack trips were also very friendly. I look forward to returning. Make sure you leave within plenty of time to find parking. Parking can be scarce. read more

Throughout the years of coming here, everything is still the same except for a newer name to the arena and some minor updates which mustn't had been nothing big. What I like about coming to Legacy Arena to purchase tickets is they only charge you the price plus the facility fee compared to ordering your tickets online and having to pay more fee which isn't necessary. Choosing your seat has never been an issue for me and you can actually select your section after the tickets been released a few hours later and sometime, it'll work in your advantage. Paying for parking can depend on if you wanna park close to the arena and it can range from $15 to $20 dollars. read more

So, I totally understand why a comic who's getting ready to release a new special on Netflix wouldn't want the audience to have access to their cell phones. However, there needs to be a better process for it. Tonight the BJCC used Yondr pouches to help ensure a cellphone/smartwatch/smart device-free zone to prevent the audience from recording and uploading videos of the live show. They did this by using the Yondr pouch. Said pouch is a bag that holds your smart device and gets locked closed by an employee before you enter the venue. The bag (with cellphone locked inside) is taken with you to your seat. This was particularly annoying at the BJCC because they do not allow purses/bags inside the facility. These pouches are NOT small. Leaving you to hold it awkwardly (too big for a pocket) and try to juggle the pouch (with your expensive phone inside), a beer, nachos, and your car keys all at the same time. If you're uncoordinated like me, this is a disaster waiting to happen. Also, we had to place our smart watches in pouches too. So add another awkwardly shaped pouch to the aforementioned mix of items to juggle. If you need to answer a call, you have to exit the theater and get the pouch unlocked by a staff member to access your phone. God forbid someone in attendance have a medical emergency that requires immediate intervention. They'd die before finding someone to unlock it. If someone in the audience is discovered with a cellphone that has not been secured in a pouch, they will be "ejected" from the building. Not the showroom. The actual building. At the end of the show, you have to locate a staff member to unlock the pouch for you. Which is insanity. They have to unlock each pouch individually and tonight there were 6,500 people seeing John Mulaney. It was a slow chaotic process getting out. There was no direction at the beginning of the process. No one told us where to go to have the pouches removed or where to return them. No one knew where to go. The crowd wasn't really moving anywhere after we got back out into the lobby/food/drink area. Like are we in line to leave the building, get our pouch unlocked, turn the pouch back in, go to the restroom, or for the merch table? No one knew. It was insane and took forever. "Why not just leave them in the car" you ask? Well, the tickets were "live" tickets with a little blue line that ran across the barcode and could not be printed or screenshot. They had to be scanned live from the vendor's website on your mobile device. I apologize for the rant, but dang that entire debacle was frustrating. John Mulaney was great, by the way. I'd go see the show again tomorrow. read more

Went to NBA game 10/12, it was my first time at the arena, its pretty nice, large and roomy, large numbers indicate the aisles, seating is marked on the back of the seats. Several food and drink venues in proximity to my seats and bathroom large enough to handle the crowd. Parking is all around the arena. I didn't care for the no cash accepted, cards only. No one accepted cash, not even our parking attendant. Since I prefer using cash, I may not go back anytime soon. read more

I had a great time at the concert I went to, which was the KISS concert. The only thing that really makes me want to give them a bad review is that I noticed when we were leaving that the steps were very slimy/slippery. There wasn't much I could do about that as a mass of people, including myself were leaving. The stairs were so slippery to me that my feet went out from underneath me, I fell, & then slid down the 8-10 steps walking down 7U to the lobby area. I developed a bruise on my left inside forearm (as seen in pictures) & hurt my pride more than anything else. I also felt that the security getting into the concert wasn't very difficult to get through. read more

The most exciting thing about the Legacy Arena is that it is hopefully getting the update it has needed for many years. For being one of the (if not the) biggest arenas in the state, it has needed updating for quite a while. Nothing terribly bad about it. It has just been in need of an overhaul for a while. As with many venue review I have done over the years, I have some insight in the more restricted areas of this arena. The big hospitality area is just fine. The boxes are well behind the times of other big arenas. And the private meeting areas are good for some things, but terrible for other. For example: if you want a good press area for a big sporting event, you have to do it in the underbelly with pipe and drape covering everything. There are some dressing rooms. But nothing you should feel great about putting A-class acts into. I don't want to be too critical, because I know everything is sufficient. That is why I give it a 3 star A-ok rating. But for being the premier attraction for the biggest indoor events in the state, it can be kicked up a notch. And it looks like they are working in that direction. read more

Went off to Legacy Arena in Birmingham Alabama near, malfunction Junction At I-65. We saw the NBA Houston Rockets play the Memphis Grizzlies. Strangely enough Houston Rockets were the home team? Traffic was a mess we arrived an hour early to try and find a place to park. (They do have a new adult beverages area near the stadium. See Texas De Brazil & Cantina Laredo ) The Legacy Arena, concession stands were terribly slow and overcrowded. took me 30 minutes to get a barbecue sandwich and a beer . The beer was eight dollars and mixed drinks were nine dollars which I thought was quite high. Especially since we had been to Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A bowl and drinks and food were much better tasting and they were cheaper in Atlanta. read more

We went to see a band we liked. They were great. BUT we purchased more expensive tickets in section C not knowing that there is NO ELEVATION on the floor to differentiate those from the pit! They sit out folding chairs behind everyone standing. I've never been to an arena where they sold flat seats (temporary folding chairs) behind the designated pit area - where you can't use the seats at all. Every other larger venue we've visited they've very clearly labeled the pit area as a flat area for standing. Seated areas are generally graded away from standing room only. In this arena, we really wasted our money. Maybe we should have done more research about the arena, but they shouldn't sell folding chairs behind the pit as "seats." As if anyone wants to pay extra to look at everyone else's butts in front of them. I really don't mind people standing in the seat section to dance and have fun, but I shouldn't HAVE to stand the entire set when we thought we bought seats. On the positive side, there are hotels attached, which makes attending an event easier. read more
