Good food good service and a nice atmosphere.:a little dated but the food is fresh and you can get a lot for the money

I hadn't been here in 20 years and decided to give it another shot. I wish I didn't. This is the worst Chinese I've ever had. I couldn't eat more than 2 pieces of chicken without disgust. They didn't have General Tso chicken (which I get at every Chinese) the waitress didn't even know what it was. I went for the Szechuan chicken, I've never had it, but it looked closest to what I normally get. I was bad wrong. It tasted like they just poured hot and sour soup over chicken and called it a day. The Sesame chicken my wife had wasn't much better, very bland and not sweet. The fried rice was also bland and had to put a lot of soy sauce to make it better. The best part was the prepackaged fortune cookies. Go down the street to Jefferson or Mt Fuji for better. UPDATE: received a nice surprise when I went to the checkout. $40.92 for mine, sesame, fried rice and egg rolls. We were not informed when ordering that subbing white rice for fried rice was $5 per serving! read more

This was not even close to being good. My Mongolian beef had no flavor. The rice tasted like very bland Mexican rice. The sweet and sour was watered down sugar water with some food coloring. Since when do you get a lunch special and no soup? Not even sure what is going on at this place. There wasn't one Asian person working . Not even the cook. This is the kind of ethnic restaurant that - if it's your first time - you'll forever be saying "I don't like Chinese food." Don't get me wrong, the food is edible, it just isn't good in any way, shape or form. My King Pao Shrimp was swimming in some sort of strange, bland sauce; the Szechuan Chicken tasted as if Buffalo Sauce had been diluted and poured over the dish. They would do better by cooking up the frozen Chinese foods from the Aldi next door. Food tastes like a bad tv dinner. Haven't eaten at Lee's in since Covid but loved it before. Now no lemon for tea, 1 napkin per person, no soup with dinner, and condiments are non-existent. Food was microwaved, Sucked don't waste your money. read more

Darla is by far the best waitress I have ever had... ANYWHERE!!! Her presence alone makes this place a joy to visit. Food is freshly prepared and delicious. We had the mandarin beef and sesame chicken with hot & sour soup and fried dumplings. Only critique is this it she first place I have ever had Hot and sour soup that was not vegetarian (had chicken), used black pepper for the "hot" and lacked vinegar for the "sour" Other than the soup totally enjoyable and delicious experience. This place deserves more than 3 stars. The food was great (Mandarin style...not your normal Cantonese). They didn't have their Orange Beef the night we were in, but will be back to try it later. The service was great as well and our waitress made sure to let us know about some of the things we may not like as we started venturing into areas that were not the norm for Chinese food places. You gotta try it if your ever out in East Texas...not too many Asian places. This one is a safe bet. read more

On a second visit, had the sizzling rice soup and pot stickers. The soup was excellent! I loved the presentation, they poured the hot crispy rice in to the soup bowl at the table and it sizzled and made the soup bubble! The pot stickers were a hit as well. At 5:40pm on Wednesday, June 16th, my daughter and I went to Lee's China in Mt. Pleasant Texas to enjoy dinner. Most of you know that Cayley has a service dog for her medical condition so Cooper, as always, was with us. Before we could even get in the door the owner/manager, older man, waved his hands at us saying "no no no". I told him that Cooper is a medical alert service dog for my daughter's medical condition. He said "no...only for blind". I asked him "excuse me? He's a service dog for her medical condition just like a service dog for a person who is blind." He then proceeded to point to his paper sign that was printed on his computer that says Animals only for the blind allowed. I told him that was breaking ADA law and ushered my daughter out the door. I quickly returned and handed him this card with ADA law and told him he needed to educate are himself and that he just lost loyal customers to his restaurant. We know there is a lack of education and understanding when it comes to service animals. But we are very understanding when others take the time to learn. Ignorance isn't acceptable and the unwillingness of others to learn is absolutely appalling. We have already called to report to the civil rights department Edit: I would also like to add that Cooper (service dog) was clearly marked, wearing his service animal vest and was calm and controlled by daughter on a leash. NOTHING TO TASTE HERE FOLKS. MOVE ON. What a disappointment. The hot and sour soup is neither. It tastes of oil that coats the tongue. Chicken fried rice is a mound of oily rice covered with a grey and orange "goulash". The moo shoo pork was a big oily mound of sautéed onions and peppers with the same grey and orange goulash mixed in. The pork was slivered and was barely visible in this mess. Look at the photos I've posted and see if you can tell the difference between the fried rice and the moo shoo. In all the 140 restaurants I have reviewed, this is the first time I've been angry at the food. And the restrooms were equally disappointing. I think one tipster said it better: "Yuck". read more

We have been coming here for over 25 years. Lee's fried rice is the best they have a wonderful Mongolian beef and our family's favorite is also sizzling rice soup. They have wonderful staff and the owners are very kind and sweet people. Give them a try. read more

Man I really wanted this place to be good. Have a cool old school Chinese restaurant vibe and staff is very nice. But... the food. Wow Wontons. Not cream cheese but cabbage? Weirdly shaped and burnt. Not good. orange chicken is like chicken nuggets in pancake syrup. Not orange at all and way too sweet. No general Taos chicken so had kung pay. So much regret. Look I know this is MP, not Singapore or Taipei. I know the bar is low but the Chinese buffet in the same parking lot is way better. That's sad. I had asked the ladies in the hair cutting shop 2 doors down a few days ago if it was any good. They said to order "Lee's Fried Rice" as it had all the meats and such and was excellent. I've eaten at several of the Chinese buffets in town and wanted to actually order a dish or two. Went in on Saturday evening ~ 6ish. Maybe 4-5 other tables in use. Service was fast and friendly. Food arrived promptly and though it was warm, it wasn't hot. It cooled off very fast. I ordered Wonton soup to start and expected a regular single serving sized bowl. Instead I got a HUGE bowl with enough for 2-3 people. It was good. I'm used to it being a clear broth but this was like a mixture of egg drop with the clear and onion, celery, carrot and a few other things added in. I also ordered Lee's fried rice and Lee's Lo Mein. The waitress started raising her eyebrows at me so I explained that I wanted left overs for reheating at home. I told her I realized it was a lot of food. The rice was pretty good. I'm used to all the ingredients being mixed in the rice as it's stir fried, but here the rice formed a bed and the ingredients were "poured" over the top. The Lo Mein had real noodles vice spaghetti, so that was good (& different). I wasn't that impressed with it though. Can't put my finger on why, just wasn't impressed. It was OK. I had water with my meal so no drink charge. Total with tip was like $32.00. I'll go back again as I'd like to try some of their other dishes like Moo Sho for example. read more

Obviously, not the big fancy chain restaurant, good thing I think. Might even be hard to spot. Inside, simple and not much for ambiance. HOWEVER, and it's a big however, the food is awesome. I am 63, male, and have been from the east coast to the west coast, south to north, sea to shining sea (yeah I know, same thing). This food has the best flavor profiles for this genre that I have ever tasted. My wife and I started coming to Mt Pleasant for Dr. appointments late 2021. She loves oriental style foods, as do I, so we stopped in to give it a try. Wow. Now we go every month after our monthly Dr appts. We have shared 4-5 different entree's, can't remember the names (yah, he's old, right). Twice I ate the beef broccoli, awesome. (I remember that quite clearly). My wife has ordered several seafood dishes, I've tasted each of them, excellent. The fried wontons, the spring rolls, both superb. They make a soup, at the top of the soup list, can't remember the name (prolly can't remember how to tie his shoes), it has crispy rice. Never tasted anything like that anywhere, now we get it every time. The portions are substantial and we always have enough left over for lunch the next day. The chef(s) are very responsive. Last month, we sent my wife's vegetables back, on the seafood dish, to have them cooked 'well done', they came back perfecto. I love real crispy vegetables, but my wife's dentures are anti-crunchy. Today's visit, we ordered the fried wontons done 'lightly fried'. They nailed the cook on those won-tons. First time at Lee's and tried the Lee's Beef. The waitress explained that they used ketchup as the base sauce for this dish. She was not wrong. The portion size was huge, and I really liked how they chopped the meat and vegetables. The rice was good, too. But... this dish was like eating a sloppy joe what with the ketchup base. Lees China has always been my favorite Chinese in Mt Pleasant. I've changed my mind. The restaurant is getting old and run down. It's kind of smelly in here now and not very clean. Owners don't seem to care about what the customer wants or needs or about cleanliness. Sometimes you have to put money back into the business to get more re business. We all have to deal with inflation but I don't think changing what your plates have always come with to less appetizing food is not the way you should do it. Disappointed! read more

Unfortunately our lunch experience here was very bad. Right out the gate my husband ordered a sweet tea, waitress, "no we don't have sweet tea only unsweet. He got a soda. I asked for unsweet tea with lemon, "we don't have lemon." Lime? "no". Ok then just tea. Got our tea and soda she says ready to order, no we would like a couple mins. She leaves, comes back like less than a minute, ready? uhm ok do we ordered our meals and asked fir spring rolls. Our food was out in less than 5 mins. She put down the 'spring rolls' I'm like wait these are egg rolls. She replies egg rolls spring rolls they are all the same. I'm like no they are not. She shrugged and walked away. Came back with sweet and sour sauce for our rolls and it was so watered down and had no flavor at all. I bought wicrowave frozen egg rolls a few weeks ago that tasted better than these. My dish was spicy shrimp and my husbands was shrimp on lobster sauce and literally tasted the same my only a little spicier and colored red. My rice was cold in the middle. We both pushed our food away. she came back asked how was it. I said not good. She smiled walked away brought us 2 fortune cookies... lmao mine had no fortune in it. Went to pay and it was 37.95. We thought wow ok. Walked out and I went back in because I wanted a receipt. She couldn't find our ticket then when she did sh immediately says " I charged you wrong" over charged us by almost $7. took her longer to straighten that out then waiting for our food. I've had to downgrade my 5 star review from 2013. The restaurant needs sprucing up, especially the restroom. The last time I looked at the fake plants they were old & dusty. As of January 2017 they started charging $1.50 each for a small bowl of soup which used to be free with your meal. We get the same dishes each time so I can't speak to the how good other dishes are. I will say it is nicer than the other Chinese places in town. read more

this restuarant has a big sign at the cashier counter says " you order you pay". whether you are served a dish that you did not order or there is something in it that can make you sick, the Owner has " no exchange policy". The owner was very rude. Waitress who work there (only spanish) work in fear of the owner. This place knows no customer service. Don't go there. I would not recommed this place to anyone. The Chinese food at Daingerfirld is much better tasting and people are friendly there. read more

I've eaten here many times when visiting family, and the service and food have always been great. I appreciate that they have several vegetarian options--more than other MP restaurants. I have seen "the sign" mentioned in a previous post but am sure this is for "those people" who find a way to eat their entire plate before realizing something was wrong with the order.
