When looking at the…read morefit of the jacket, the tailor noticed that the cuff of the jacket has buttons that actually unbutton. The tailor said that the sleeves would have to be taken in from the shoulders and that it would cost $150 per sleeve and probably not worth doing it. I agreed and I left and went to another tailor. I was hoping that I would get a better price and this tailor was able to do it from the cuff and just move two buttons up to keep the look of the jacket. This leads me to believe that the tailor at Park Avenue Tailor is inexperienced. I will give three starts as this is just a review of the interaction and not of their work.

The tailor did not speak or understand basic English, which made it extremely difficult to explain what I wanted done. I resorted to pointing, demonstrating, and pinching the fabric to show her exactly where I wanted the garments taken in. She nodded along as if she understood, but the final results proved otherwise. I was charged $111, and I cannot wear a single item I brought in. Two pairs of jeans now have odd pleating around the waist that wasn't there before, and the dress, originally a loose, flowy Boho style, now has awkward bunches of fabric where it should have been taken in. I returned to try and show her what went wrong, but she pretended not to understand me at all and became visibly frustrated. Not only am I out over a hundred dollars, but I also lost clothing I loved. If a business owner cannot understand basic customer instructions due to a language barrier, it creates serious issues, especially for something as detail-specific as tailoring. I was charged over $44!!! Wow!!!! Scammed!!!! I only discovered it when I was going through my credit card statement. When I collected the top, I pointed out that I had been overcharged. ( I thought it was a genuine error.) I told them they had quoted me $20. They denied it- I was basically called a liar. Wow!!! Great relationship building for a first time customer! When I said I had learned a valuable lesson - definitely worth $20- and that I would NEVER return- they were quite complacent. Later the owner called and offered me $10 off the next time I came in. WOW! I'm sure their work is fine- but they clearly have no idea about customer service!!!
