Excellent results after Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment, hoping to be on the road to recovery…read more I went to Dr. Deming after desperately seeking a treatment for chronic Achilles tendonosis/tendonitis for over 10 years. The typical conservative treatments (rest, ice , NSAID, and PT) did not work for me, in fact, my condition got worse after PT. I had constant pain and swelling behind my ankle and even walking for long periods was difficult. I received different opinions on possible treatments. A well-known orthopedic recommended the Topaz procedure and ankle ligament tightening procedure. Other orthopedics recommended doing absolutely nothing. After 5 months, my Achilles' tendon had not improved, which lead me to I start researching alternatives. I heard of PRP treatments as possible alternative. I found Dr. Deming from his very informative website regarding PRP. Dr. Deming performed the PRP procedure and I could not believe the results. Two weeks after the procedure, I no longer felt pain at the insertion site, even when I pressed on the area. Several weeks after the procedure, the notable swelling in this area was not only reduced, it was completing gone. To my surprise, a bump that existed behind the Achilles due to years of micro tears and injury at the insertion site had disappeared. Then, Dr. Deming fitted me with custom orthotics and he instructed me on how to use them. I am taking things slow post-PRP. I am slowing using the orthotics for longer periods each day. I returned to limited exercise in the pool, performing mat yoga (no use of legs) and I will gradually move to strengthening exercises. Thus far my results have been good. I am looking to return to full exercises in 6-8 weeks. I appreciate the personal service from Dr. Deming and Amy (office manager). I recommend Dr. Deming for this treatment.

My concerns about the affected area were not addressed. That same morning, after seeking outside guidance online, I was advised to go to the emergency room due to the risk of infection. I contacted Dr. Deming and was seen that morning, after which I was admitted to Suburban Hospital. At the hospital, the area that had previously been ignored was confirmed to be infected, and I ultimately required surgery that included the removal of bone. I then requested care from a different podiatrist. After I informed the nurse practitioner that I was withdrawing consent for further treatment from Dr. Deming, he later entered my hospital room unannounced, closed the door, and raised his voice, asking, "Am I fired?" I told him I did not want to discuss the matter. Despite this, he proceeded to give unsolicited medical advice about my foot, even though I had withdrawn consent. He ended the interaction by saying "good luck" in a derogatory tone and left visibly angry. I found this interaction distressing and inappropriate, particularly given the medical circumstances. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this provider.

I initially went to visit the doctor because of a bunion on my foot. I was not certain if it was related to a prior work injury and sought to have an assessment done by a podiatrist rather than my orthopedist. I completed the paperwork and explained that I had a work related injury which was still open but wanted to know what was going on with my bunion. Dr. Fox treated me for my work related injuries, which I knew about and was documented previously but said his office did not accept workers compensation. He claimed he would treat me without knowing my work related history and that my "bunion" was the least of my worries. I wound up walking out with a brace and a stretcher for my leg and paid my co-pay and told to come in for a follow-up a month later. I returned to the office for my follow-up and upon walking in the front desk informs me that I owe $215! I received no notice in the mail from either my insurance carrier or from them that I owed additional money. It was a complete shock that I found unprofessional at the timing. I inquired what it was for and she said it was for the equipment I received. Irritated, I contacted my insurance carrier and unfortunately I was indeed on the hook for that amount as it was considered "durable medical equipment". I'm glad I only received the stretcher and the brace as Dr. Fox originally wanted to put me in a boot! I can only imagine how much more I would have had to pay for that out of my pocket! It was then I had my "ah ha" moment when I now had to pay a significant amount of money for something that my own orthopedist could treat me for without any cost as it was for my work related injury that Dr. Fox was trying to treat me for as well. I paid my balance and said I would not be treated anymore by the doctor, asked if I had to pay for the visit in spite of not being seen and was told no, then walked out. I came to this doctor for a bunion and he treated me for my work related injuries. Upon reading other Yelp reviews it appears he no longer does surgery for bunions but whether he does other treatment is unclear. He should have informed me that he does not treat bunions at this time or something to the effect and not have wasted my time and money knowing full well I did not come to him for treatment of my work related injuries. I wish I would have understood my insurance plan better before accepting the medical equipment from Dr. Fox as I would have insisted he only treat me for my bunion and not my work related injuries. Regarding the balance I owed, thankfully I could afford to pay on the spot. Not everyone can. Maybe discuss large co-pays or deductibles with a patient before issuing them equipment that their insurance may or may not pay. Hence, even though Dr. Fox was nice and personable, explaining everything in detail, I can not recommend his services as in my opinion the treatment I received bordered on unethical.

Summit Orthopedics works closely with Sibley Hospital so I was able to schedule a Monday morning surgery and overnight stay at the hospital. The Nurse Navigator Supervisor at Sibley provided information on Pre-Op procedures and an appointment with Sarah, Summit's Nurse Practitioner, involved a review of the surgical procedures and the list of medications with a review of frequency. Dr. Siram brought together a great surgical team comprised of the Sibley Hospital Orthopedic doctors and nursing staff and an anaesthesiologist. The first nurse assigned to my post-Op care placed top priority on Pain Control and coordinated a meeting with In-House PT/OT Team to review and practice the Post-Operative exercises. I completed 2 weeks of In-Home physical therapy with Potomac Home Health Care, affiliated with Johns Hopkins and Sibley. The PT specialist was exceptional: checked vitals; reviewed my medications; provided a home exercise plan that helped me to begin walking with and without a cane, before starting In Office Post-Op PT.
