When I visited Dr. Stein's office, I was (eventually, after a long wait) taken to the X-Ray room. The X-Ray room contained an X-ray apparatus that looks to be years obsolete. Other orthopedic clinics in the Washington, DC area have more sophisticated diagnostic equipment. The X-ray technician took X-rays of my feet and knees and then it was time to meet Dr. Benjamin Stein. I told Dr. Stein of the problems I have been having: 1) an injured big toe on my right foot; 2) persistent soreness in my knees, especially when walking on stairs; and 3) I need new orthotic foot pads. Dr. Stein then addressed each problem in the most cavalier manner: 1) Dr. Stein examined the X-rays of my injured big toe: a very small bone fragment has splintered off and is pressing against the flesh in the top of the toe causing pain. Apparently from the X-ray, it was evident even to a medical neophyte like myself that it needed to be surgically removed. Instead, Dr. Stein simply said it will heal by itself. A few weeks later, it is still evident that the bone fragment has not healed back into place and needs surgical removal. 2) Dr. Stein said the X-rays did not reveal any problem with my knees. I have to admit that to my untrained eye that I could not see any visible damage to my knees from the X-ray, but I asked Dr. Stein why the soreness in my knees persists. Dr. Stein said he didn't know. I asked Dr. Stein if there was no improvement in my knees nine months from now and I remain in pain would he write a letter to my landlord noting that walking on the stairs in my house causes me pain in my knees and recommend that my landlord release me from my lease so I could rent an apartment with no stairs. Dr. Stein looked at me as if I had asked him to kill someone for me and took offense saying that he did not write such letters. I suppose he has never heard of the phrases "reasonable accommodation of a medical condition" or "supporting documentation." 3) I explained to Dr. Stein that I have a genetic disorder that creates a larger than normal dorsal bones in my feet that extend bottom-wise half-an-inch or so, requiring orthopedic foot pads - at least two other orthopedic doctors explained that to me previously. Dr. Stein said he had never heard of any such genetic disorder of the dorsal bone! Where did he go to medical school?! Dr. Stein simply gave me a prescription for new orthotic pads and a few weeks later I received a bill for a total of $245.56 for the X-rays. Apparently, Dr. Stein charges approximately twice for X-rays the amount that Blue Cross/Blue Shield will pay for, so we patients have to pay a large co-payment and deductible to The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics. If your doctor refers you to Dr. Benjamin Stein or any other doctor at the The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics in Washington, DC refuse the referral and find a new doctor who will refer a better orthopedic doctor or orthopedic clinic (I am changing primary care doctors because my current one always refers me to mediocre specialists, which is why I ended up seeing Dr. Stein.). Please find yourself a better orthopedic doctor: you will receive only inadequate care and excessive bills from Dr. Benjamin Stein and The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics in Washington, DC.

As she mentioned he was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and had outstanding bedside manner. He took the time to listen, explained everything in a way that was easy to understand during the exam and made me feel completely at ease. What stood out most was the flexibility and thoughtfulness in discussing treatment options and next steps--I never felt rushed and truly felt included in the decision-making process. It's rare to find a provider who combines expertise with genuine compassion. I'm very grateful for such a positive first visit and would highly recommend this practice. Everyone from the front desk personnel, his administrative staff, the x-ray technician, then his shadowing residents x2 were great. I visited the 20th st location but will visit Georgetown due to ease of transport.

Dear GT Medstar Medical Team,…read more My name is Sheila Westerfield and I was an in-patient at your hospital from October 25 through October 30, 2024. I must apologize because this email thank you is a very long time coming, however, I have been working on my recovery and PT. I wanted to thank each of you for your amazing care both medically, physically and emotionally as your team and you guided me through my recovery period at the hospital during my stay. From the excellent medical care and advice that was given to me both pre op hip replacement surgery to post op surgery, Dr. Park, I must say you are the BEST! I am so grateful that you are and were my surgeon involved in my care from the day I came to you for consultation, during and after my surgery and your excellent follow up and care! Your attentiveness to my requests and care will always be appreciated with deep gratitude. You also possess an amazing beside manner. I grew up in a family of physicians from my grandfather, uncle and brother -- so I am quite familiar with the quality of care that can be given to a patient -- not just medically, but the overall support emotionally that makes an outstanding doctor like yourself stand out from the rest. Thank you! Secondly and not really secondly, the amazing care that I received from the nursing staff, your staff, Dr. Park -- your resident, the physical therapists, nurse techs, the client care experience staff and down to the young man who cleaned my room twice a day and the food services staff, I remain extremely grateful. The quality of care and attention and kindness and compassion of all of the staff mentioned above (the names are listed below) -- I hope that I didn't leave anyone out, please know how fabulous you all are and I am grateful that you chose the medical profession because you are exactly where you belong. You all have huge hearts and exude patience and devotion to the career you chose. It is my hope that the director's of GT Medstar and your immediate supervisors and managers will have the opportunity to see this email. Because I don't have access to their emails, I am hopeful that this email will be forwarded to each -- from the president/ceo at GT, the head of the surgical orthopedics department, the head of nursing and patient experience department, director of physical therapy, food services and the janitorial department. I am healing quickly -- walking sometimes without a cane and having no difficulty navigating my 14 steps (LOL). All of this is due to the excellent care that each of you provided me and your encouragement each step of the way. The qualities that each of you possess are those that each person who has to undergo surgery or just a stay at the hospital prays for!!!! I know for certain as I am a praying "gal" who when my eyes open I am prayerful and thankful and before they close my prayers and gratefulness are repeated to my God -- and, what I can say is that HE answered my prayers, for TRUE!!!!! I wish each of you all of the BLESSINGS that God has in store for each of you and your families. I know that each day that you come to work, you are BLESSING yet many more patients! Thank you again. I will continue to keep each of you close to my heart and in my prayers. Tomorrow, my plan is to post this on Google!!!!!!! Blessings. With much thanks, Sheila H. I chose another pain center, National Spine and Pain, in the same area. During three visits I have never met the doctor, although visit records claimed that I had. The office experience was impersonal, waiting then rushing through the appointment. A neurologist diagnosed injuries requiring neck spinal fusion surgery. It stabilized my neck but left me with chronic pain. This time, I was able to make timely with ROSM. Each of my three visits so far have been directly with Dr. Imran Siddiqui, with assistance from attentive PAs. Dr. Siddiqui's manner is holistic and empathetic towards my pain. His approach itself reduced my anxiety. His careful diagnosis and treatment of my neck pain has produced results. The communication between me and the office via the patient portal is very efficient. I get a response from the receptionist Miss. Kaitlyn Lee within 24 hours. She also replies promptly to emails. Most practices take days to respond and sometimes require repeat requests. Kaitlyn is very personable and helpful for all patients there. Finally, I have never met any medical assistants who are as kind and understanding as Chawdry. I told him that he seems born to be a medical professional. He checked on me several times in a very caring way while I was waiting to see Dr. Siddiqui to make sure I was okay. He apologized for wait, even though it wasn't long. It was the opposite of my experience with the National Spine and Pain Center, where no one checked on me even though I was waiting for a long time. Whenever I visit ROSM, I feel that my health and wellbeing matter to each of the people in the office. Not only the doctor but also the staff members of ROSM empathy and care for the patient in their medical practices. I wish all other medical professionals would visit ROSM and learn from them how to manage a caring practice.

I had an appointment with Dr. John Ferrell on September 12, 2024, at the ROSM Washington, DC office…read morebut left before seeing him because I was not seen in a timely manner and left after an inappropriate time to wait. This is the second time I have experienced this problem with ROSM including previously in July with another doctor in the practice. Both times I was taken to an examining room in a timely manner and was left to wait in the room. After over 30 minutes, I left the room and spoke to one of the staff to ask if there was a problem. Both times I was told that the doctor was with another patient and would be in to see me in a while. My first complaint, therefore, is that it is not the patient's responsibility to determine why there is a delay. The doctor should instruct his/her staff to let the patient know that there is a delay and what are the patient's alternatives. Both times the staff person apologized for which I appreciate their apologies. An apology by a staff person, however, does not indicate that there will be any change in how waiting patients are informed of delays. On September 12, 2024, the staff person told me that the doctor was in a room with no clock, which is not an excuse but demonstrates poor planning by the doctor. Therefore, my second complaint is that the ROSM Washington, DC office is poorly managed and fails to properly plan appointment times for patients. I will not be returning to this practice for any reason.
