Fantastic - timely, knowledgeable, and a great listener. Great doctor if you're a runner.

However, I was recommended an orthopedic boot and given no information how to put it on or walk in it. I waited for her to come back and give me the boot and explain how to use it but instead a person came back into the room that I think was an assistant or a student in training? He was by himself and handed me a boot and said here you go I was told to give you this. I expected a little bit of info of how to walk in this new boot to prevent further injury or even how to put it on, but that didn't happen. I googled it in the exam room by myself before I left and figured out how to put my boot on so I could leave the room. Later I was billed over $700 for this boot that I found online for $75 while I was trying to figure out how to walk in it. When I found out it was a $75 boot I could buy from Amazon, I looked at the notes from the doctor that said they explained the purpose of the boot and how to use it and walk in it but no, that never happened (not like that's worth the $625 premium anyways). I was told the only way to dispute this charge is to talk to Tatijana, the office manager. I called 14 business days in a row but she was in a meeting all 14 times I called so I left messages and finally after 14 calls she took my call (she never called me back despite 14 days in a row of messages). She said she would look into my concerns and call me back. No response after 30 more days and I have continued to call once a week but she's in a meeting each time I call. Even if I received a call back that said "hey we know we sent you out of this office with a boot that was marked up over 800% with no instruction how to use it and you have to deal with it" that would be better than being ignored by the manager 20 times. There are a lot of foot doctors in the area, don't waste your time on this one.

The chair in the exam room is huge, sized for giants, it seems. They are efficient here. I was able to book an appointment online, finish e-check in before hand, and arrive on time with everything already in their system. They simply asked to scan my ID and that's it. No need to fumble for insurance card. After a short wait, the nurse came out to get me. I love it when there's no long wait at the doctor's. In a corner in the waiting room is a stool with two cute legs / feet underneath. Interestingly the stool says "do not sit here." Tempting! The office is on the ninth floor of a building near Dupont Circle, and there's security guard downstairs who asks for your ID and make you sign in (a bit different from most medical offices in similar buildings).

I knew something was amiss and thank goodness I opted for a second opinion. I suspect that if I had waited any longer, I might not have been able to narrowly dodge surgery like I just did for a much more complex and serious bone condition that definitely is NOT a stress fracture (and apparently was missed on X-rays, too). It's difficult to write this review but I know that many patients like me rely on these opinions. It's scary to think that intuition and some luck are what saved me from letting this go incorrectly treated and facing a much bigger problem down the road where it'd be too late to avoid surgery.
