Well, you know you are hurting when you have to go to an orthopedic doctor... And you know you don't want to, but for the sake of longevity, sometimes ya gotta bite the bullet... I personally hate doctors because they all tell me to rest and do less... As in: not listening... Dr. Pereles, on the other hand... Is a veteran endurance athlete. He was recommended to me by a handful of folks who sang his praises. Trusting them, I made an appointment as soon as possible. I was most delighted to learn that I could make an appointment that matched my schedule in just a couple days. They have an on-line patient information portal, but they ask for all that info in person... So, I am not too sure about the value of the portal except to check your appointment? Day of appointment... Arrive early... And I am seem early, too. Awesome. It gets better- thanks to Dr. Pereles. He identified and diagnosed my issue, then provided some stellar advice, and Most importantly, didn't need to quit my training. Smarter training was advised, and I am so happy for the insightful medical advice. I would recommend this fabulous doc to any endurance athlete. read more

This is the worst PT unit I've used and I speak as one having done years of PT In the area . The staff uses a lot of trainees who are randomly called on during your session with the actual PT who seems to have several clients at one time and can't focus on you . The aides seem incompetent and often don't know what your warmup routine is or what you're there for, as if the information is not updated for your visit. Also, some of the therapists seem over aggressive in their treatments, and as an older patient I don't and can't do heavy weights and frankly I got worse going to my sessions. They also leave you unsupervised for gaps of time where no one can correct your form or take your heavy weight from you. The therapists also are always having in depth conversations about sports, their weekends, their lives, their pets, as they 'work' on you and seem unfocused and careless about their jobs. The front desk staff is also rude and disrespectful at times and there is always a backlog of patients waiting to be checked in! I came here because it's close to my house and i have used a doctor from this practice for years but I've now found other options for my treatment and PT! read more

This is an excellent practice. The physical therapists and assistants are amazing. However, the front desk experience has become absolutely brutal. Unprofessional. Uncaring. Untrained. I have never dealt with anything like it. We will continue to see Dr. Keeling, but we will never return to the physical therapy division of this practice because of their incompetence and inconsideration. read more

Yesterday I was seen by Dr. Dan Pereles for the soreness and stiffness I had been experiencing in my right knee for close to two weeks. I am 71 and an avid e-bike rider putting in 60 to 80 miles a week, so when my knee issue flared up unexpectedly, kept me off my e-bike, and began to adversely impact my other day to day activities, I became concerned that maybe I was headed for something complicated and unpleasant. Dr. Pereles took one look at the x rays and said it was just some arthritis and nothing structural. He was wonderful and gave me all the time and attention I could ask for. We discussed a couple of treatment options, and I opted for the cortisone shot. Just as he said, the relief was nearly immediate and one day later I was back to riding for the first time in two weeks. Dr. Pereless first treated me probably 20 years ago for torn meniscus in both knees. Over the course of six months he performed two separate very successful outpatient surgeries on me to deal with those issues. I just want to stop and thank Dr. Pereles for his expert care and "bedside" manner. It feels so good to not be in pain and able to go about my normal routine. Thank you again. read more

Extremely disappointed with the physical therapy unit of this organization. The staff members I saw seemed very inexperienced. In one visit, I was not sure the technician was looking at the correct patient chart. They gave me little explanation of what they were doing. I tried to contact the referring physician to find a different PT organization but the answering desk just told me I could take paperwork to any PT outfit. Thats hardly a helpful referral. read more

This review is long overdue. Dr. Solomon performed surgery on my spiral fractured middle finger in 2013. (I broke my finger while bowling). He used 3 pins to hold them in place, and was able to straighten out the finger like straightening the tower of Piza. My finger to this day is more straight than it was before the surgery. The physical therapist in house at the time, was fantastic and got me to 100%. I am truly grateful to this facility and the service providers for restoring the use of my hand! Thank you! read more

1/16/19 UPDATE: So, after all of what was described below, we finally managed to schedule the first two procedures. My mother was in pain. We didn't have the time to start fresh with a different orthopedist. First procedure ended up being on 1/2/19. All was good with that. Second one was scheduled for today, 1/16/19. Very worryingly, got a call from them late yesterday afternoon. They had just realized they needed more info in order to get a separate/second pre-authorization from the insurance company for the second procedure. Provided them the info they requested. They said all would be good. Just now, with my mother not only already at the surgery center but prepped for the procedure, unbelievably, I received a one-line email from their insurance/billing person saying the pre-authorization is pending and today's procedure needs to be rescheduled. WHAT?!? This organization is THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Completely disorganized, stumbling along one minute at a time, with no idea what's needed when for what. Clearly, have no process management whatsoever in place. And, obviously could not care less whether they're causing their patients and their families supreme inconvenience or, even more critically, their patients to not receive the treatments they're supposed to be getting, when they're supposed to be getting them. We'll never have anything more to do with them. Done. ******************************************************************** SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, I scheduled a series of three injection procedures for my mother, at two week intervals, per their instruction. The first one was scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Here it is, the afternoon before, and they just contacted me to let me know they cancelled our appointment for tomorrow because THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO SUBMIT ANYTHING TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO HAVE THE PROCEDURE PRE-AUTHORIZED. "We will notify you when we obtain approval." No apology, no concern, no timeline, no nothing. Meanwhile, I had scheduled a paid caregiver for the several hours that would have been needed tomorrow to take my mother there, stay with her during and after the procedure, and then bring her home, because I have to work tomorrow. Even worse, I was also told this afternoon that, actually, the three procedures are not supposed to be at two week intervals, as they had originally told us and scheduled, but a different time interval. Say what? Disorganized. Uncaring. Unprofessional. Very disappointing. Time to find a new orthopedist. read more

Very bad experience today at the Physical Therapy there. although I arrived 5 mn ahead of my appointment and the lady took my name, she didn't confirm that I checked in. As a result the PT took me with 20 minutes delay, my session was shortened by 15 minutes (for the same price!!) and on top of this I had to pay for the car park because I stayed for more than one hour. I was treated in a rushed manner as if on a conveyor belt in a slaughterhouse. There is a disregard for Covid protocols as too many people were crammed in an examination room with me. The physician attended to me for under a minute or two. An obnoxious and overbearing x-ray technician was dictating to me her political views and how I should think -- it was a demeaning experience. read more

I have been to two of the doctors here and the PA, and everyone has always been professional and spot on to help me from my Achilles surgery, to a bad neck and back. The downside is the paid parking, but at least you can park here. The old location had NOWHERE TO PARK in the Kensington location, so it is better than circling the block. I have not had any issues, and from workers comp to regular visits they have worked with me on my , my son, and my husbands orthopedic problems. read more

Jeslin Thomas, also known as Dr.Jeslin Thomas, Jeslin has a doctorate in physical therapy; not only is she well prepared for her position, Jeslin is compassionate and sincere. In my first meeting with Jeslin after sustaining multiple injuries from falling off a bike, I felt incredible as I departed walking without a knee brace and no pain. Jeslin challenged me physically and psychologically to gently and safely exercise my knee in subsequent appointments. Jeslin is insightful as she knew I was strong and capable of completing the assigned exercises. The goal was to recover and resume a healthy and active lifestyle fully. I looked forward to all appointments scheduled with Jeslin. It was comforting to have a provider demonstrate a genuine interest and patience in my health as I'm a mature-aged female. We just had a really bad experience with Dr. Kelling. First, although I had asked while making the appointment and with the nurse to see if my son needed an additional appointment for his back, Kelling walked out without answering that question. Second, when I tried to explain that my son was underplaying the amount of pain because I see him wincing quite often when his foot is touched, he was incredibly dismissive and offered no follow up plan. He spent 5 minutes with us and rushed off without offering us any idea of what to do next. The practice is really great, but we are going to find a new doctor - maybe one who has more than 5 minutes for an appointment! read more

This practice does not value your time. Each time I have been here, I have waited over 45 minutes. The most recent visit, my appointment time was double booked with another patient. I was told they do this in emergencies. I spoke to the other patient and neither of us had "emergencies" though. They do not value time, only revenue. Use another practice. read more

Expect unnecessary unapologetic delays bc communication breakdown, inadequate documentation, limited support staff, cross coverage in group practice apparently for emergencies only. While I owe Dr Keeling debt of gratitude, this review is about the Byzantine and frustrating practice operations, in the hopes they might be willing to consider modifications to meet patient needs. Of several healthcare practices involved in my care, this is the ONLY one that prohibits meaningful physician-patient communication in between visits. Most other docs personally call or email me back (including surgeon dept chair, in detail; even gave me her cell #), minority will answer questions via assistant (but will at least actually answer questions). One radiologist even made concerted, totally unsolicited efforts to reach me after hours, without any actual medical indication, and didn't fuss when I returned call to her cell on her day off. Here I'm constantly begging for crumbs in what feels more like a law practice that only allows pt questions on billable time. I've been seen here for years for ankle problems and was only prescribed supportive brace last month ("oh, thought we did that already"). Dr Keeling suggested surgery on Friday afternoon and advised me to return (without appt) for another brace. As recommended, returned 330p the following Monday and also had also developed a few questions after thinking over the weekend. For surgeon, 40-minute procedure; for pt, months of recovery and years of rehab requiring careful planning. When front desk told me he was in process of leaving for day, I took time to write out questions so wouldn't have to rely on asst and trying to make answers as straightforward as possible. Quick personal call back would have been ideal (but apparently nonoption with this practice), but I was trying to patiently wait at least for for asst responses, including just trying to reconfirm formal name of proposed procedure (even though, as a physician, I had some idea from discussion and googling). Asst voicemail after 430p the next day telling me that all questions would be answered at next month. So apparently pt is not even allowed to simply reconfirm proposed procedure name -- in the midst of trying to figure out all home care arrangements and responsibly setting up second opinions if finally heading to OR. Trying to patiently await response yesterday was for naught since he's now on vacation again (see below). Majority of practice staff were empathetic and trying to put me in touch with practice manager (which I had already requested). But asst just left another cold/annoying email telling me to wait for one month, ultimately reiterated by another unhelpful manager. Last month, I was told possible MRI if no improvement after one month. I called a couple weeks bc more concerned about symptoms, no one responded at all to voicemail. After trying to patiently wait for few days, called back to learn doc on vacation, asst unable to order bc MRI plan had not been documented in writing. Practice has been this way for years -- exasperated pt hoping (but with limited optimism) that they might consider substantial changes and/or updates. read more

Customer service is TRASH. Called just a moment ago to make an appointment for a friend who was injured and the scheduler (I think she said her name was Benae) treated me like I was a nuisance to even call her. I'd been trying to get through to their number that rang busy for an hour and finally was able to get through to only find such poor customer service on the other end of the line. If that's how they treat potential patients I can't imagine how they treat their actual patients. Even scheduling the appointment was as hassle. 1. She threatened to hang up on me because I didn't have the insurance information right away. I told her it would take me just a sec to get it and she told me to call her back if I had to look for it (after I just informed her that I'd been trying to get through for over an hour!). 2. It took LESS than a second to get my friend's insurance info (I found it in the midst of her threatening to hang up on me) and then she promptly asked for a rundown of the info on the card with plenty of attitude of course. How dare I call her and ask her to do her job! 3. She told me what day and time my friend could come in for the appointment. "exasperated Sigh! She can come on x date at x time but since she is new she needs to be here no later than a half hour before AND I see that she cancelled an appointment before so...." Really!! Was that necessary? And why would you tell that to me? Confidentiality??? So rude! And typically schedulers will ask you which date YOU would like to come in or at least give you options for availability not just tell you when you are coming in??? 4. I told her my friend needed to see a doctor for two parts of her body and was informed by Benae? that the doctor only sees one part of the body at a time... So forget her other ailing parts the doctor will just focus on just one. So my friend has to try and figure out which one is hurting her more her neck or her knees??? This is terrible. The service here is just absolute trash. I promptly told my friend to see another doctor. read more

I came for a follow up visit today and arrived early for my appointment. Even paid my copay upon arrival. I am used to waiting a while to see any doctor, but today I was stuck waiting for an hour. I got up to ask what was going on when a half hour went by. The receptionist said she would go ask. After another half hour of waiting, I had to decided to get up and go ask for a refund of my copay so I could leave. Finally as I did that, the ortho's assistant came out the doors to give an announcement that the doctor was an hour behind schedule. They should've said that to me the second I got there. I will not be returning here for treatment. This was the worst service I've received. Very unfortunate since I am still in pain and have no idea now what to do. read more

These folks are awesome - and they just moved in to a new facility recently, so visiting them is even more pleasant than it was before! All of the doctors are top notch - we've seen Goral, Pereles, Hinkes, Solomon and Keeling for different things. They all are terrific at explaining the problem, and giving you multiple options for treatment. We've never been disappointed - they've always gotten rid of whatever the problem was in a timely and effective manner. Insurance billing and making appointments is easy too. I love coming here for PT! Recovering from two displaced ankle fractures has been as joyous as it could be -- I leave each session feeling stronger and looser than previous days...which also helps because it encourages me to do my exercises on my off days.
