    Young's Lobster Pound and Seafood Restaurant - 1 1 - 1/4 Lb Lobster Dinner

I have looked for an excuse my entire life to travel the Maine simply to eat lobster that was fresh…read morecaught on the coast. Over five days, we tried six different seafood restaurants in the hunt for the best lobster roll in Maine. The finale was at Young's lobster Pound and they did not disappoint. We had both fresh caught and boiled lobster, it was cooked well and a great experience. The more important part of our stop was the lobster roll, it was the best traditional main lobster roll we had on our trip. The amount of lobster was above average, the tenderness of the lobster on the roll was perfect, there was only a light bit of mayo on the roll and warm butter was poured over the mountain of lobster. This did not have your traditional type role, they did it on a toasted and butter round type bun, this had me a bit curious as to why, after eating, I realized it was so you could manage the massive amount of lobster they portion. The second bonus about the stop was we were able to take pictures and enjoy the scenery with no crowd as we were here at the beginning of May and very early in the morning. I imagine if you come during peak season, you will be waiting for long periods of time, if not hours as the workers reported how busy they as the weather warms up. Excellent food and experience. Would definitely go out of our way again to visit.

I ordered a bowl and cup of lobster stew, paid, and waited in my car as instructed. The lobster stew was brought out to me. A simple flavorful, traditional lobster stew broth with chunks and chunks of delectable lobster. My goodness! Divine. I can only imagine how marvelous it must be to dine here in the warmer months, outside on picnic tables with a most spectacular view! I hope to get to do that!

We liked the outdoor dining setting at The Terrace Grille so opted to have lunch there outside. We went there at 1PM on a Saturday and were seated right away. We didn't get a table right next to the edge but we could see the water perfectly from our seats. Our waiter was very friendly but he, and most of the staff, were transplants. Our waiter told us he didn't know where lobsters came from until he recently moved here. lol For an appetizer, we shared the Crab & Appetizer Dip. It was delicious!!! Definitely not healthy but we didn't care, we ate most of it. Tip: eat it while it's hot! It's definitely not good cold. For lunch, I had the Bar Harbor Lobster Cobb salad and my husband had the Steamed Maine Lobster. My salad was amazing! The lobster was fresh, tender, and overall the flavors of the salad went well together with the honey citrus dressing. My husband wasn't crazy about his lobster, he said the meal was acceptable but the lobster was overcooked.

The outdoor seating area is GORGEOUS with great water views of Frenchman Bay and Bar Harbor. We ordered a bowl of NE Clam Chowder, Lobster Bruschetta, Lobster Chef Salad, and the Haddock. Everything was superb! What the chowder lacked in salt it more than made up for in deep, rich clam flavor! The haddock was also divine! A great experience for sure!

Just a great experience from the old wold ambiance to the great friendly service. But oh the food!…read more The menu is full of dishes from around the world but done with a Maine twist. You will find Italian, French, Brazilian, African tajine and of course a burger . We started with the house dip which is amazing red pepper served with beautifully roasted pita bread. The portions are huge so we decided to share the schnitzel. As expected, a huge serving. Perfectly cooked so the chicken was not dry but tender and the breading was crispy and crunchy. It had a honey mustard drizzle which I don't normally love but it worked here. We swapped the beer braced cabbage it comes with for the truffle fries which were incredible and so many even shared we could not finish them. Obviously hand cut and fried here. The flourless cake served with raspberries and cream was excellent also. Truly fine dining experience with a very well thought out and executed menu

In fairness to Fresh & Co., our dining experience at a competing establishment the night before was…read moreoutstanding! It was a 5-star dining experience all the way. It would be a tough act to follow no matter where we went to eat. With that in mind, I feel I'm being very fair with a 4-star rating. It was good, but it could have been better. In fact, I would be giving them a 3.8 or 3.7 if that were an option. A 5-star rating may be within their reach, but they're not there yet in my book. The location is excellent. Downtown Camden, steps from the waterfront. Check. We made 5 o'clock reservations, as the website suggested we do if we were hoping for outdoor, upper deck seating--to take in the view. That option is weather-dependent, of course--and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, rain was in the forecast that night. For making those reservation instructions clear and easy to understand: Check. So, we chose two seats at the bar. The bar was relatively small--there was room for ten or maybe twelve patrons--but the chairs were not crammed close together, making everyone feel cramped and crowded. Check. The bartender was clearly very experienced and friendly and she made a great Vodka Martini (very dry with a twist). Check. We started with the clam dip appetizer. It was good but could have been better. It was nothing like the clam dip that used to be very common in New England when I was growing up. I don't fault them for that, but I do fault them for having very little clam in the clam dip. Boo. Then, we both ordered the Duck. I know, boring, right? While we both like Duck, and the description of the accompanying root vegetable medley was intriguing, we couldn't help but wonder why nothing else on the menu was appealing. We *never* order the same thing (so we can try one another's dish). And, why was the seafood selection so limited -- just one item if memory serves They're in Camden, Maine--steps from the harbor. Boo. She loved everything about the dish, but I only enjoyed the Duck--I didn't care for the root vegetables. We were both too full to finish our entrees, so we left with ample leftovers. We'll go with a 'Check.' The 'Checks' outpace the 'Boos' 5 to 2. That's a 4-star rating in my book. Note: As the name implies, this is a farm (and boat) to table oriented place. The menu changes frequently.

**November 2025: Friday Early Afternoon Visit**…read more My friend and I were wandering Wiscasset and were in need of a restroom. We couldn't find one and decided to dine in to use their facilities. I think we were among the first diners and realized that the restaurant was really nice and had such a wonderful view of the water. Our server was incredibly kind and hospitality. She informed us that the soup of the day was clam chowda to which both of us wanted right away. The chowda was flavorful and had a good amount of clams (many other restaurants choose to load it with potatoes, but not this one!). The soup does lean more brothy versus gravy-like which is a personal preference but taste wise it was still soothing. The menu had a lot of really great seafood options so I decided to try their Maine mussels. Our waitress said that the broth was really wonderful and would pair nicely with garlic bread which I also ordered. The entrees came out pretty quickly and the serving size of my mussels was double what I thought it would be. The mussels looked massive and the meat was as fresh mussels should taste. It was an excellent dish. The garlic bread would be a great vessel to soak up the mussel broth, but I felt that the bread was a little thin and slightly over-toasted to really soak up the broth. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the overall experience and it does feel like a local spot.
