The place is filled with friendly teachers & staff, all classrooms & facilities are SPOTLESS & most importantly it felt SAFE. I'm so sad my daughter is leaving the school to start kindergarten in the fall but let me just say they are BY FAR the best! My child absolutely thrived at marigold academy and we were SO sad to leave due to moving out of town. The child to teacher ratios are also amazing and small- much better than most other daycares. The staff does so many fun things to keep kids smiling and having fun such as weekly music class, holiday decorations and music, yoga, outdoor play, water play in the summer, etc. I love this place and recommend it so highly!!

Upon enrolling into Zadie's early childhood development center I was excited. My child was getting…read moreintroduced to preschool and I was referred to them so I was happy. I informed the school of dietary restrictions for my child and also had given all forms required by them prior to starting from the doctor. Unfortunately this allergy was not taken seriously. On multiple occasions my child was served foods that they were allergic to. After the 1st time I was then told that the allergy chart was not up and that there was a miscommunication and it was understood that there were no restrictions for the child's diet. (Even though there was doctors notes in place) I was also told I would have to bring food from home or that they can serve the sides of the day excluding the protein. I was also told that the child would be separated from the rest of the class to make sure of the possibility of the child eating someone's else food wouldnt happen. I thought this would be a good idea but still from then on I was so paranoid that I would remind the staff the day of and call after lunch each time this item was on the menu to assure my child was ok. On the second occasion I spoke to the teacher who ASSURED me that my child did not eat the allergic item. 30 mins later I get a call that my child actually did and was experiencing allergic reactions. I was told that the teacher, yes the teacher was out of the room durning lunchtime and that the aid served lunch and fail to check the chart. With all that being said if you don't want to micro manage your child's school just skip this one. The staff is undertrained and the most important things get overlooked.

Ms. Debbi, Ms. Michelle, Ms. Christina, and Ms. Leanna (and the rest of the staff/teachers) are wonderful. Our son loved going to school every day, and he always - without fail- had a huge smile on his face when we picked him up at the end of the day. It was so clear that he was loved, nurtured, and encouraged when he was there. Ms. Debbi and her team were very responsive, and used the Brightwheel app to community with us and document his day (naps, meals, activities, pictures). They also got to know our son very quickly - his likes, dislikes; his temperament and nature; what food he likes the best; and how to get the best nap out of him (to name a few). There was never any hesitation or concern about the care he received. His teachers loved him as if he was their own. Aside from the amazingness of the school, Ms. Sheri (the owner) is a pillar of the community and is involved in so many events, as well as Whole Spectrum Austim. Legit - the caring nature trickles down from the top. In sum, Smile is a hidden gem in JC and we were so fortunate that our son was in their care!

My child is well taken care of and even though we just started the staff all know my family by name. Highly recommend for all children because the curriculum is excellent. It is not just a 'daycare' but they strive to prepare our children for Kindergarten and help with socializing, sensory stimulation, nap schedules etc. I also love the additional activities and philanthropic fundraisers they support. So we had to un-enroll her. Also had an experience where there were only 2 kids in the class around 7:45am, and 2 teachers. One teacher was holding a crying toddler, yet the other teacher neglected to comfort our daughter who was screaming at her feet, while she continued to talk to the other teacher. She only interacted with her when she saw me looking at her from the side window. This was day 3 of my daughter being enrolled there. Which completely broke my heart seeing this as a first time day-care mom. I spoke to the director and requested a specific teacher be assigned to my daughter because I noticed she was the most nurturing from what I'd seen, but was told they could not honor my request and assign a specific teacher cause they don't take requests. A few kids had yellow snot running down their noses which also resulted in my daughter having a terrible flu for 2 weeks. Stopping in a couple times during the day we also noticed that her bottle and food was placed on the table and left, and if they dropped or she didn't eat, there'd be little attempt to ensure she has something in her tummy. So she was always extremely hungry and cranky when we picked her up and drank 2 bottles on the drive home from roseland to Montclair. Our experience was not the greatest, but yours may be different. Eventually, her stopping eating and drinking after a week of being there forced us to remove her & we appreciate miss Tessa understanding and issuing us a partial refund.

They have great enrichment activities like music and field trips. We particularly liked that L&F has its own outdoor play area behind the classrooms. If you look across different daycares in Manhattan you will find that this is rare. We often came to pick our son up and found him smiling and laughing and running around the play area. Another nice benefit is that they serve the kids food from Veselka, so you know it's good :) And despite all these advantages, we found the price was lower than other options in the area. I was also impressed by all the adjustments they have made to re-open after the COVID shutdown!
