Bad news. Stores like The Toy Shoppe are bad news. Like a kid in a candy store bad. There's a toy…read moreof some kind for every age group. Although I needed only one item and found it quickly, I spent more time perusing. What I saw was every available spot filled with toys. The manager mentioned the toy fair in a couple of weeks and after that, what little space was available now would be crammed with new things. That will be yet more bad news. Nearly everything was reasonably priced, less than in competing stores and in fact, I didn't notice a lot of duplication with things available in chain box stores. That makes The Toy Shoppe good for picking up something different. I didn't see any board games or jigsaw puzzles, unfortunately, but since I can get those anywhere, I'm okay with not finding them here. Perhaps they'll show up later. Despite escaping from The Toy Shoppe with only one item, I saw enough, like balsa planes, classic harley motorcycle models, and what looks to be the first of a train collection, to know I'll be visiting again. The Toy Shoppe, a classic mom-and-pop shop, is worth a visit when needing an escape from the madison-avenue marketing hype for toys.

My daughter stumbled across colorful biospheres that house African Dwarf frogs. A small aquatic frog native to parts of Equatorial Africa. Each biosphere comes with 2 frogs. Jordan educated us on care instructions and we found this be a very affordable low maintenance pet for a child. These frogs are adorable in pairs ! We were informed that we receive free food within the first year of owning the frogs. The lifespan is up to 6 years. Much better than fish. We enjoyed browsing the rest of the store and I scored some personalized ornaments for our Christmas tree 3 for $10. My daughter identified a company called Dope Slime whose items are not sold everywhere. The staff was very friendly and courteous and we can't wait to come back and visit the other locations. I've worked with Caleb Dillon of White Metal Games from 2014 - 2015 on a variety of historical and…read morefantasy projects with wonderful results. For historical miniatures, I commissioned him to paint 17th century Russian Cossacks, over 300 Aztec warriors, and a Bolt Action Japanese force. For fantasy miniatures he converted two Lord of the Rings Mumaks for use in Kings of War, converted a large number of custom female centaurs, and created a playable montage of nymphs and dryads for Kings of War. Finally, he painted about 200 models for me from the Eureka Miniatures "Frog Wars" line of models. In my recommendation of Caleb, I would like to point out three aspects of his service which garnered my consistent and repeat business over the past two years. 1. Communication: Without fail, Caleb provided a weekly check-in with photos to show the status of the models. It gave me a clear understanding of how the various projects were proceeding and allowed ample time to make changes if desired. Moreover, he consistently asked questions to ensure I was happy with how the project with the progress. In projects where he had more room for creativity, he used this opportunity to provide me with an outline of his thoughts and visions which was immensely useful. 2. Conversion Work: All studios are expected to paint well, but not all are great converters. Caleb really did a wonderful job with the conversions. He took my initial ideas and went wild. For instance, I asked Caleb to convert two Mumaks into a traveling Goblin caravan, and he made the tops of the Mumaks into full working cities. For a dryad/nymph project, he made it a seamless transition to make it appear as if dryads were emerging from the trees. I was very happy with his work in this capacity. 3. Timeliness: Caleb has shown immense discipline in delivering the models on time. For 2015 we created a monthly project calendar and an associated budget. For every project he delivered the models earlier than projected without neglecting any details. Overall, I have been immensely pleased with my collaboration with Caleb Dillon of White Metal Games and highly recommend his work.
