Unfortunately, the little white building is a little set back from the street, and might be easy to pass by, but it's a great resource and definitely worth finding. To start with, I've had all my jewelry (especially some delicate chains and undersized rings) repaired at Leander Jewelry, exclusively, since I found them last spring. They have all the professional resources, tools, and equipment a reputable jeweler should have, including a machine that identifies stone and metal content for accurate valuations. I've noticed that their prices are based primarily on the metal value, with necessary markups for craftmanship and stones. So, prices are always fair, honest and transparent. And I can look up for verification on my phone in real time if I want to check for myself. Best of all, the folks who run the store are so friendly and fun. I love looking through the cases and trying on all the pieces that catch my eye. It's a family run business and they're good to their regulars. In reaction to my earlier review Leander Jewelry returned the silver I sold them and I returned the cash and check that they gave me. My reaction is similar. Their explanation was basically "out of our control". Their refiner only pays 65% of melt value. Chat GBT says 70% is the low end. The rest of the difference was related to Overhead, Profit and market volatility . 110 grams of silver (adjusted for purity) relates to $81. Or $.74/gram. The spot market price is $2.7 to $2.9/gram (again Chat GBT). Their return after the refiner is $1.76/gram so $1.02/gram to them. $0.74 to me. The $1.02 covers their market risk, overhead and profit. Their profit as related to me was in the neighborhood of $47. Overhead included $25 for postage! So seller beware- know the gram market price of the silver (or gold) you're selling. And compare it to the price that they're giving you. Every business needs to make a profit. A reputable buyer will tell you up front. Took my watch in to get looked at. I suspected it needed repairs since it was only a few years old. The dial wasn't moving. They replaced the battery but it still wasn't working. They said to give it a minute and if it didn't work to return. It never worked and I returned. They didn't offer to look at it or repair it. They wasted my time. For weeks I shopped around trying to find a jewelry store to resize my wedding ring. I was starting to lose hope because every jewelry store in Cedar Park and North Austin were extremely expensive and I just did not get the feeling that they were being honest and felt like they were overcharging me. Every jewelry store I visited would tell me I had to do something different and were quoting me an excessive price to enlarge my ring. I came accross Leander Jewelry in Leander. I walked in and was greated by Shadan, an extremly polite young man. I told him exactly what I needed to get done on my ring and his father walked up to take a look at it. They both gave me this peaceful feeling and appeared to be extremly honest. The father told me exactly what needed to be done. I was quoted a price way lower to get my ring resized (not even half the price the other jewelry stores quoted me). I am extremly happy with the work Leander Jewelry did on my ring. They quoted me 2 weeks for the ring to be resized but it was resized sooner than that. It is hard to find honest people to take care of your precious jewelry. I highly recommend Leander Jewelry. So somehow I wound up lucky enough to score an incredible woman for a wife. (I know, right? Whodathunkit...) so I'm looking for a, a simple ring repair on a seriously sentimental piece and b, a new creation that she's had her heart set on for ages. After the usual fruitless trek through all the big mall chain stores and a half dozen mom and pops... i see this place, only because I was at the stop sign waiting for a break to get on 183... literally on the way to yet another far flung "highly rated"... shop. What the hell, check it out. Yeah, pretty unassuming. Why not. Big surprise. Walk in.. you feel the competence, the quality. There's some too hollywood handsome guy manning the counter, I'm like, great, here we go again. But nope. The dude very clearly not only deeply knew his trade...which if you read any of my nonsense, you know is numero uno for me... but he was also not just polished in delivery, but flipping heartfelt. Ummm... ok. Not expected, but I'll give it a minute. Thirty minutes later, I'm still grilling him.. and he's batting 1000. Damn. For this little shop? Then the guy that's been sitting quietly in the corner comes over. This guy is the o.g. real deal. This guy is an artisan, a craftsman... a producer. I've made, created and fixed stuff all my life. It's a if you know, you know, moment. He answers my questions, and gives me his bonafides... holy bejeebus. I'm hard to please... real hard, after almost 70 years of witnessing and absorb it every kind of failure... I leave there having dropped well north of a grand down as an initial deposit for both the repair... and custom work yet to even be designed. After a good minute going round with the ol lady... I scribble out what she wants for Shad (mr. Hollywood, Joe handsome model guy)... Ray, the dad... checks it... yeah, no sweat (echoing Shad)... Shad hits me with the cad drawing a few days later... oh, hell yes. I bring the wife in... she melts. It's beyond imagination... more than a home run. She takes the repair.. swoons. It's fantastic. And it is. I wanted strength, on top of looks. Ray delivered, in spades. The wife was a legit body builder /physique competitor back in the day... still occasionally beats the hell out her jewelry at the gym. So it needed to be hardcore strong. Ray knocked it out of the park... and it is exquisite.... I plunked down a few bills for an in stock piece just to show a bit of appreciation... when the custom work arrives, I'll update this review. The takeaway here is... whether you're off William cannon or liberty hill... do yourself a serious solid and drop in. Whether you're looking to score with the s/o (in either direction...) or you want investment grade or just want to pump up your flash... this is the place to get it done... and the coin will have you increasing your reach way past what you thought your budget could stand... (and do NOT say "that's a really good price!!! out loud... we need to keep this part of their operation to our little selves, ok?)
