I'm local and I'm all for supporting local small business owners so I decided to give them a try. At the very simplest, FMD does a perfect job of giving you basic, simple meals that are healthy with your macro count. While the pricing may seem a bit on the higher end, I feel like it's nearly perfect for the amount of total calories/macros you get. And remember, at the end of the day, it's all about macros and eating loss (so you can maintain or lose weight) and of course, you are paying someone else to cook. You can order in house at their store, but you can order delivery like I do. FMD's menu is small, simple, and overall, all the entrees are tasty and worth getting over and over. The chicken alfredo and sirloin steak are my two favorites. I do wish the veggies came flavored in someway, like sauteed or even lightly spiced/flavored, or at least the option to. A couple things that make me knock off a star: - Delivery is way overpriced at $10. No local shop that you buy food delivery remotely charges close to that nor are tips even upwards at $10 for local delivery, even on delivery apps like Uber or DD (unless you are a very generous person on delivery apps). I would understand if delivery price changes based on distance/location, but it's a flat fee. - Despite the website stating weekly subscriptions get a discount, it doesn't. I've reached out to FMD via email in the past but haven't heard anything. - I really do like FMD's sirloin steak. It's basic, the flavor is good, and it is the right cut of meat, but somehow, it always seems partially overcooked/burned on the edges. The inside is always tender. It's just the outer crust always comes burned/black and you can taste it. - I do wish that the main entrees (chicken alfredo, Penne Bolognese, etc) came much higher in protein over carbs. For example, a few more slices of chicken and less penne pasts in the chicken alfredo. It would be a much healthier option can cater towards the "fit" aspect of dieting where we should be consuming much higher proteins over carbs. I really do like FMD and I hope at some point some of my feedback will make some changes.

The website is always changing, before it was easy through the app, now I have to go through a different sign in to get in the website. THEY NEVER HAVE ANY CHICKEN BREASTS. which is insane that's the number one wanted item in preps. If they don't have a certain item they bring it upon themselves to substitute to whatever they want, which happens often. I think it may be time to find a new prep place.

Thank you for consistently providing super delish food! I've gotten countless meals from other meal prep with 2oz chicken claiming 50g protein..... or 8oz cooked rice claiming 30g carbs. Wildly inaccurate.... but with Meal by Mel, I don't have to worry that using a meal prep service is working against my efforts! My favorites so far: orange chicken, red pepper rigatoni, Buffalo chicken wrap (eat on day 1 or it gets soggy), teriyaki chicken Sometimes I add a bit of roasted veggies to the meals that are lacking in veggies. My only constructive criticism would be to make all meals have 1-2 servings of veggies but that's an easy fix for me.

However, the actual meals I ordered for my weekly lunch and dinner were a HUGE disappointment I ordered multiple of the hibachi bowls and they were extremely salty not a bit over salted a horrendous amount of salt that it made my bf and I sick. This last time has made me rethink whether I will be back. There was something off about a few of my meals this week. I picked up my food like normal on Monday evening. Wednesday I was having my steak salad for lunch when I noticed mold on the tomatoes. That evening I had a different meal that smelled weird (like it was spoiling, but wasn't?) By friday morning I had 2 steak meals where the veggies were spoiled and mushy. Having purchased my meals many times, I know this is not normal. Nothing changed about the transport or storage on my end so I think they had bad ingredients for this batch. I messaged them requesting a refund and offered to send them photos. This was about 3 weeks ago and they haven't got back to me. I get things happen and issues will arise here and there. How a business responds to a service failure says a lot about how much they value their customers. Not getting a response says a lot.

For Rancho Cucamonga residents the delivery option is not available. However, you can pick up your order at Self-Made gym. That is what I've been doing. The menu changes every two weeks, and I like that you can get a wide variety of meals. I did have an issue one time, but they took care of it immediately and offered me a bonus to make up for it. I was impressed by their level of customer service. The portions are just right. The key to my weight loss this year has been shrinking my portion sizes and eating to be satisfied. Also, the food prep service is reasonably priced and delivery services are available. It doesn't get much easier than that! I would definitely recommend that you try her food prep service. With the great prices and great tasting food, you have nothing to lose....but weight!
